  1. Gam888,

The Flowrider is more expensive if you purchase the tickets at Margaritaville, like $50 or so for the hour. It's $30 through the cruise line.

Thank you everyone for replying my post. I just wanted to find out if we didn't want to commit ourselves to the Flow Rider before getting off the ship, but rather decide if my son (it's really for him) wants to try it once we are there. We were on Oasis of the Seas in the summer and my husband tried it. (for free, included in the ship, although we have paid enough for it!!!). My son didn't go with us so he never saw it. Someone posted we can pay when we are there although it could be a long line up. I guess we will take a chance on that, we could always watch other people and be entertained for a while. By the way, is Governor Beach a lot nicer than the beach front near Margaritaville and Jack Shack, how much does it cost to take a taxi there for 5 people return. Do you need to pay for chairs and umbrellas?
  2. It also includes silly stuff like slippers, and different colored beach towels (yellow, instead of blue) In addition to the previously mentioned stuff: special robe, special bath products, 1 free fitness class each, access to the spa Thermal suite and thalassotherapy pool, and "unique decor" - on the splendor the rooms aren't that lovely.. BUT the spa experience was amazing!

We were in a Spa balcony on our last cruise over the summer, and are doing a spa inside on our next cruise in March.... We didn't spring for the balcony again due to the northern port in the winter thing :)

  3. They are occasionally replaced.. Get friendly with the steward :)

I think as a rule they aren't to be replaced, but they're not the smallest of the tiny travel bottles either. I recall 4 oz or so. One and a half bottles was enough for me for the 8 day cruise. My husband has a "#2" buzz cut, and hardly uses anything. He used the shampoo on the wall in the shower. We didn't bring any additional of our own.

They have sort of a herbal citrus smell.

  4. cheerjuulz,

We are on your cruise! :) We are definitely doing the steakhouse at least once, if not maybe twice.

We are aiming for the first night, (for the free wine)... Last time we sailed the Splendor, we did the steakhouse mid cruise - a very early reservation (5:30) We were the first couple in there.. it was so quiet, and so romantic :)

  5. Thanks to all who have shared your impressions! I'm so glad to hear some positive ones! I'm really looking forward to this cruise! 2 months ONE day - getting close!

Another question for the Splendor experienced ... What is the best way to get from the atrium/lobby to the aft part of the ship. We have an aft wrap on deck 6. I've been looking at the deck plans, and it seems like the galley gets in the way. I see there are 2 outside decks one on the Lobby deck and one on the Atlantic deck. Can you use either one of those to get from mid ship to aft?

I'm thinking of embarkation. Should we just take the elevators from the lobby up to deck 6 and walk down that long hallway? Looks like we are going to have to take those forward elevators because I don't see anyway to the one ones near the stern.

Oh ... and did any of you carry on a suitcase near the size that Carnival says you can carry on - 16"H x 24"W. I was quite proud of myself getting everything int a suitcase a bit smaller than that on our last cruise. But the port people gave me a hard time (I think they have a little something going with the porters ;) ). They didn't actually stop me, but one of them harassed me all the way up to the security check in. The suitcase fit through with no problem - lots of room to spare - and the security people didn't even blink.

I'm trying to decide whether the harassment was worth the convenience of having only one suitcase. If I check it, then I have to take another rolling suitcase - the kind that fits in the airline over head bin (we're not flying) with all the stuff I am not putting in checked luggage - camera, nook, laptop etc. Which is the lessor of two evils :D

I hope this isn't an issue! I never even considered it! I'm carrying on my wedding dress!

  6. I think he will be on until the 5/26 sailing. I looked at the CD schedule John Heald posted, but it was difficult to tell since both Malcolm and Big Tex are listed. I thought Big Tex would be covering until after our 6/10 cruise, but John said no :(.

I can tune out the WooWoo - but sometimes I just want to cover my ears! Wish Trevor Block was still around - he was great!

Bummer! I was looking forward to the Texan guy... I've never sailed Carnival before (so I can't compare CD's).. But the WooWoo'ing sounds like it would get irritating :(
