Day passes are sold at the discretion of the Spa. The cost of the day pass, if sold, is the same, regardless of the day. If the Thermal Suite is busy, no day passes are sold. Pre-pandemic, you may have got a day pass on a slow port day and usually never on a sea day. Since restart with less-than-full-capacity ships, day passes were more common. Now that ships are filling up, they may go back to pre-pandemic status.

    Thank you for the information

  2. We both just got our 5th vaccination and really don't care whether other people are vaccinated or not anymore. We got the shots so we could get out and enjoy what's left of our lives. However, we have not had a cold since January 2020 because we have been wearing N95 masks and we will continue to do so when in close quarters, like a theater, with people we don't know. By the time we sail in December we will have had our flu shots also.

I think people are getting occupancy and capacity confused. Capacity is the number of people the ship will hold. Occupancy is the number of people who actually booked.

According to Frank DEl Rio at the Q321, ncl ships sailed at 100% capacity after an initial phase in process. Since all NCL ships have been sailing longer than 60 days, the capacity is 100%. In other words, NCL is not limiting the number of people who CAN book (at least at is information filed with the SEC).

According to the same Frank Del Rio, but fast forward to the most recent filing with the SEC, while ship capacity is 100%, ship occupancy is 65% on average. What is really telling is that they only managed to get to 85% occupancy during July on the very popular Joy. That ship should have sailed well over 100% but it didn’t because, while capacity is 100%, occupancy is averaging only 65%. People just aren’t booking at rates anywhere near 2019.

Occupancy in Q4 will drop even more, with the exception of thanksgiving and Christmas holiday weeks. Brutal.

On a side note- Since 65% occupancy is the figure filed with the United States Security exchange Commission, I will believe that number over any CC member who is clearly uneducated on ship occupancy levels.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Cruise lines were intentionally limiting capacity for a time secondary to covid. My interpretation of the OP’s very simple question was is Norwegian continuing to purposefully limit capacity and if so, what’s that free space margin for December. Consensus seems to be the company is selling to capacity if demand will fill the ship. As with so many posts, a simple question has been turned into an opportunity to savor the apparent endorphin release that comes with gnawing at each other’s necks which seems to happen here with regularity.

Precisely. NCL recently announced that they didn't expect to reach 100% until the first quarter of 2023. I was simple asking what the CURRENT situation is.

just off the Joy. I talked with the hotel manager.  he said there were 363 unsold balcony cabins on the 8/23 Joy sailing. However, due to many cabins holding a 3rd or 4th guest were all but sold out. the ship sailed at 3950 or 102 % occupancy.

    That is interesting

Since they are completely different sets, they preform on different nights.  Two nights of each show, two performances a night (total of 4 performances of each show).

The theater has 800ish seats x 4 shows = 3600 seats. If the ship is full (4500ish passengers), like the titanic, there are not enough seats for everyone to see the show. So make your reservations as soon as you embark at The Social, Deck 6 mid-ship. Then go across the hall to Teppanyaki to fix your dinner reservations.

The online planner blocks 2 full hours on your calendar. So, if you have a 5:30 dinner reservation, the planner blocks 5:30-7:30 inclusive. So the first show you can book would be after 7:31 pm.  There are no such restrictions when booking onboard.

    👍

cozgurl: just got off the bliss last sat.  when you get to the pier, there are porters that will take your luggage (a tip doesnt hurt either) they take it directly onto the ship and it will be delivered directly to your cabin within a few hrs.

if you go to the guest services desk, there are stations set up for the restaurant resrtvations. if your're in a suite or a haven, ask your concierge. finally, go to the ncl website, log on and you can make your reservations on line (i believe its 120 days prior to the actual sail date.

we had dinner a couple of times in the manhattan room and didnt hear any music, or see any musicians

observation deck has a bar that is open during the day, until the deck closes, there is a great choice of food available, meats, cheeses, fruits, breads, crackers, etc, not just measly  peanuts.

as for the mojito tasting, if you have the drink package(even the limited one that comes with the standard booking) go to sugarcane and the mojitos, like most drinks are free. you can enjoy any of the varied flavors,

sorry, i didnt utilize theother services, or games, so i cant comment on those. by the way, if you get a chance to see the show   "Six" , go for it, it's amazing.

we walked out of jersey boys, it drags until bob gaudio is introduced, i though the acoustics were bad, and they tried to emulate the movie, not the original play. plus ive seen jersey boys, both the play and movie, a number of times

    "BON YOYAGE"

What are the showtimes for Jersey Boys and Six and do they perform on different nights. Asking so I don't book conflicting dinner reservations.

Sorry complawyer, but I'm hoping the changeover on Bliss comes in the next two weeks to COKE products....I've suffered for years with the diet pepsi😉

Maybe there is a compromise?  If the bars stock Diet Coke cans I can make do🤔

Diet Coke is caputski as in discontinued.

  9. The problem, as I see it, is not a fear of becoming infected because we have been vacinated since the end of January. The fear is an outbreak of covid-19 among the the unvaccinated and the small medical center onboard becomes overwelmed forcing the ship to make an emergency stop somewhere to off load the sick passengers thus spoling the cruise for the rest of the passengers.

Look at Trip Advisor for Roatan and see what comes up.  Also have a look at the PORTS OF CALL board here on CC for Roatan and you can ask over there for recommendations.

    Thanks you.

Hardly anyone’s key cards are working they have the stewards in the hallways opening everyone’s doors ...because there is over 500 pissed people at the desk bitchin about having to stay in NO 1-2 nites....it’s like a maiden voyage..comedy of errors....they don’t even have the luggage tags out they have no clue they are so overwhelmed...it’s quite funny...they actually made an announcement that your key cards don’t work in your stateroom but you can still buy things so don’t worry....I hope they loose many millions on this disaster, they deserve it...

It's a hurricane, not a planned social event. Next time don't book during the hurricane season.

  12. Thanks everyone for your responses. We decided to cancel the motel room in Hana and do the round trip thing in one day. The money saved will be used for a helicopter tour on Kauai. As for the driving, I just retired in October from driving a 26 ft box truck up and down the east coast from Boston to Richmond for the past 30 years so it should not be a problem for me. Mahalo

  13. We did the Road to Hana. It was the most beautiful drive (and scariest) we have ever taken. We rented a convertible. Well worth it. To look up and see the trees, waterfalls and cliffs you are going by is amazing! Keep in mind that our rental company told us not to take the car in the full circle as they will not cover you if something happens, so you have to go back the way you came. We were told that the reason was the other road out washes out quite often. The drive takes quite a while.

What do you mean by "full circle"

  14. Is the time and money spent driving to Hana in Maui worth it or would it be better spent doing something else? I will be there in 2 months and I have rented a car and a motel room for the night in Hana so I won't have to drive there and back to the ship in the same day.

  15. We are booked on POA sailing Sep 1 this year in a cabin with a large balcony, starboard, 9th deck. I just saw a YouTube video of the equivalent of our cabin and the balcony seemed like a dark metal cave :o. Can someone who has stayed in a cabin with the large balcony tell me if that is how it seemed to them, or was it just the lighting etc in the video maybe? I'm thinking about switching to a Small balcony that seems more open, but we are sailing with another couple who have an ocean view, and I pictured the 4 of us hanging out on the balcony - that couldn't happen with a small balcony. Plus prices appear to have gone up, so I'd be paying about the same for the small balcony that we paid for the large one. Any help would be appreciated!

We are sailing on the POA on June 16 of this year in suite 11014. Some how, a few months ago, I found these Photos of that suite.

  16. Starting some research into a Hawaii cruise. In the past we have stayed mostly in aft balconies on the NCL ships. Does the Pride of America have larger than normal balconies in the aft of the ship? What are the best cabins for larger than normal balcony size on this ship? Been doing some searching and can't seem to find anything that directly answers this question. Thanks.

We are booked for June 16 in cabin 11014. I found this review of the cabin with photos. https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=564457

PS....We were on the Baltic Cruise with you last year
