  1. We are a group of 6 going on Allure out of Galveston and between us we have 3 different status levels;  emerald, gold, and first time cruiser.  Will we all be able to stay together at check-in or will we get split up?  I'm not sure if they make everyone wait at different areas depending on which level you are.  I seem to remember something like this in Florida, but I could be mistaken (it's been awhile).  We haven't cruised out of Galveston before.  Thank you!

  2. We are booked for a cruise next summer using our cruise credit certificates we received when our cruise this summer got canceled.  The passengers are myself, husband, daughter, and a friend of hers.  There is a chance the friend will not be able to go next summer (due to summer school) and my daughter will then ask a different friend (we won't know this for sure until the school year gets underway).  Will it be OK to change the name on the reservation?  I'm concerned because the original credit certificate can only be used by that person's name that was on it.  But, since the reservations are already made using the original friend's name, and if I have to change it, perhaps, next spring, I wonder if I'm going to run into trouble doing that?  I know you can normally make a passenger change without any issue, but in this case, with the credit certificate, I'm not sure.  Thanks in advance for any advise or thoughts!

  3. Ship - ANTHEM OF THE SEAS

    Deck - 6

    Stateroom # - 6672

Stateroom Category – DO OBSTRUCTED VIEW

Starboard or Port Side - PORT

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, quiet. No issues with noise from above or in the hall.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – This was a great cabin for being an obstructed view! Only half the balcony was blocked by a lifeboat and the other half was clear.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size balcony.

Was wind a problem? - No, wind was not a problem.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems with this cabin.

Any other comments? - The only possible issue I could see someone having would be the fact that there was an enclosed smoking area just below our cabin. Only once did I notice the smell of smoke and it was a cigar so wasn't that bad. Overall, I thought it was a great cabin for being an obstructed view.

  4. Kevin- We are sailing on Anthem as well in a few months and have an obstructed view balcony cabin on deck 6. Can you tell me a bit more about that..... if you sit on a chair on the balcony, can you see straight out or do you have to be standing to see over the lifeboat? Do you happen to have any pictures? Thank you for the great review! We can't wait to see her in person :)

  5. Thank you both- I will check out the Liberty 411 thread.

Carol- We will arrive on the 14th and our ship leaves on the 16th. Kids are 11,13 and we can get by with 2 doubles and a modest budget (Think double-tree not a motel 6). We are pretty efficient travelers, so probably one suitcase each and a carry-on. I'm sure we can manage a small amount of public transportation with that and I'll try to time it so it's not during rush hours. We'll want to spend the afternoon and pm hours on the 14th at the hotel swimming and will spend the 15th seeing the main sites- Statue of Liberty and WTC site for sure. Maybe then go to see Radio City Music Hall and Times Square if time permits? Hope this helps you. Thanks so much!

  6. Hi Everyone! Hubby, me, two tweens will be arriving at EWR 2 days before our cruise out of Cape Liberty and want to see the main attractions in NY or a day. In the interest of not getting a rental car and easy of transportation, my question is this: do we stay at a hotel near the port and find transportation into NY for a day (and then back to the hotel), OR do we just stay in NY and find transportation to the port the morning of the cruise? Not sure which option would be the most cost effective and least stressful. We are seasoned cruisers, but have never cruised out of the East coast before, so any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

  7. Sorry if this has been asked already (the search feature was not working for me). Are there always taxis waiting when you depart the ship? I am just wondering if we need to make arrangements ahead of time. We will be getting off our RC cruise on a Sunday morning at an early time. Thanks for all your help!

  8. mommie_2_3_krazy_teens- I am looking at doing the zip line at St. Kitts on our upcoming cruise too. Did you do the full tour, or the half tour? Can you tell me a little bit about it? Did you feel it was worth it and did you have to wait in long lines to do the next line? The ship charges so much and I want to make sure it's worth the money :o I tried to see if I could book it through another tour company (for alot less) but they told me no because RC has a contract with the zip line company. Any info you have would be appreciated. Thanks!

  9. Good Afternoon!

I had finally had enough heat and sun and made my way back to the ship. I'm so glad I don't have to exit the ship and go home tomorrow. I feel bad for all that will be but know there is another batch of cruisers bitting their nails in anticipation to get aboard the lovely Enchantment of the seas. This though is way I'm really not a fan of three day cruisers. Yesterday afternoon (Day2-3) and today is when most cruisers really begin to be relaxed and have a great comfort level to move about the ship. Then they have to get off the ship! :-)

I've been reading and living vicariously through you for the past 2 days now. Great review! I am biting my nails as I write this LOL! My kids are beside themselves right now and counting down the hours till it's time to go to bed so we can get up early and head to the beautiful Enchantment tomorrow!! Keep up the good words :)

  10. We went last year. My kids were 7, 9 at the time and hubby went with them to the water park just to be safe. The lifeguards were good and kept a eye on everyone (I heard them blow their whistle a few times). Before you swim out to the area they give you the 'rules' so I would say it is fairly organized. I wasn't comfortable letting the kids go out by themselves (at their ages). 9 and 11 should be alright by themselves however. The area is pretty far away and not too easy to see from the beach chairs. I waded out to the water pretty far to take a couple of pictures (I've tried to attach them) so you can see the distance. We got the all day pass which, for us, was worth it! The kids loved the giant slide!
