  1. Yes. We've signed up for this cruise for March 2022.  Not sure exactly why Australis would need to avoid Argentina unless it's Covid protocols in transitioning between Chile and Argentina???

I'm also trying to find independent evaluations/reviews of Australis cruises but hard to find.  There are a small number of them on Cruise Critic but most are older, pre-pandemic vintage.  Anything new about them?

I've also requested info from Australis about their Covid policy since virtually nothing is currently mentioned on their website.

Any info or opinions are welcomed!

  2. I see that Azamara has announced a thoughtful new policy regarding vaccination requirements for passengers and crew.  However, I haven't seen how Azamara plans to verify vaccination status.  In the US, all we have to show currently are flimsy, easily replicated vaccination cards.  Is it really just an honor system?  If so, this could easily lead to onboard outbreaks among those that haven't actually been vaccinated.

Also, what safety protocols have been established for shore excursions?  For example, will local tour guides and bus drivers be vaccinated?  Are passengers that go ashore required to undergo Covid testing for a few days once back onboard?

Under what circumstances are masks required?

Does anyone have insight into this?

  3. Buried in the announcement about Capt Jose moving on to another job was a note that the Quest would be going into dry dock.  I looked at the Quest schedule and noticed one week of down time from March 22 -29 while in Singapore.  Does anyone have insight into what is planned for the dry dock?  Is this just periodic maintenance or are there some noteworthy updates?  I would assume nothing very significant could be implemented within one week but, just curious about the plan.

  4. I very much appreciate that LCV members were provided with an early opportunity to book cruises on Pursuit at especially reasonable prices on October 24, 2017. However, if I had been aware that the offer was for a very limited duration, I would have booked within that time period if only the advertisement had stated this important time limitation. Unfortunately, the advertisement sent via E-Mail on October 24 didn't seem to include a time period for this special offer.such a; "TODAY ONLY" or, "24-HOUR SALE". In fact, the advertisement indicated that the double upgrade offer extended until the end of November but there was no mention of the duration of the current pricing for LCV members.

If this is truly intended as a benefit for LCV members, please include time limitations in your future advertising. If this is yet another ruse or computer pricing error, then Azamara is doing a fine job of alienating their most long-term and loyal customers.

  6. Hope you're correct! It seems that Cuban officials have a lot at stake given the value of their newfound tourist trade. Perhaps, they can resolve the issue soon in order to avoid a complete Cuban tourism ban by the US.

  7. We will be on the 3/21/15 cruise leaving Caldera. Does Azamara generally have a preferred hotel in each embarkation port? If so how far in advance are they usually announced?

For January 2014 cruise leaving from Caldera, Azamara used the Real Intercontinental near San Jose, Costa Rica. Not sure if they will use same hotel in 2015. It appears to be a fine hotel but my wife and I stayed at a nice Doubletree Hotel a few miles from the San Jose airport.
