  1. Made final payment today! Can check in in 4 days.

Sadly as excited and how desperate we are to take our journey on the Edge, still dealing with some surgical complications that have made getting excited and further planning of our upcoming vacation placed on a back burner :-(.

We did purchase one excursion when it was on sale about $40 pp lower than the previous price. However, other things that we waited on have either gone up in cost or are now no longer available. Hoping to start checking the cruise planner daily to not lose out on great deals like we did with a 3 day specialty dining package that is no longer available.

  2. I booked the Sept 20, 2019 Italy Spain and Monaco cruise back in June of 2018. Shortly thereafter I looked at shore excursions and picked out some that I would like to take. I wrote down the prices but didn't book because the cruise was so far out. I went back online today and noticed that the prices of the excursions had gone up. Is that a common thing on Celebrity? I usually cruise on HAL and I don't remember that happening on that line. Do the excursion prices fluctuate or will the new higher prices be the best you can get?

There were excursions on sale about two weeks ago as one we had been interested in was down about $40. I have noticed that some excursions had initially gone up since we first booked last year. I would keep checking as Celebrity does appear to have price and offering changes regularly.

Several excursions on the Western Caribbean are now “check on board” or something to that fact. Hoping that’ll mean we can try to purchase when we get on board as one in particular is a “must do” for us if possible.

  3. Some people have said they have a single IV (can't remember if it was on this thread) so have been discussed. Here are the single cabins and a depiction.

There are 16 of them on the Edge and the plan right now for Apex is 24 single IV's (they sold out quickly on my cruises). Four of them are on the 50% obstruction list with davits (6142, 6143, 6144, 6145).

They are 142 square feet plus 42 square foot balcony and have a Queen bed. Category ES Single Stateroom could accommodate 2nd guest on sofa. The regular IV is 201 sq ft plus 42 sq ft balcony with a King bed.

In these “singles” it appears that the closet will be by the door. To me based on the floor plan, these cabins will have more closet space. The closet appears to be large enough to have at least two if not three possible doors.

  4. Re: Traditional Dining on Edge … if you chose this option with a set seating time, does that mean you can choose any of the four main dining restaurants on that evening? Last time we were on Celebrity we were in AquaClass so only dined at Blu … and since then, in the past few years we've mainly cruised Disney so have gotten used to rotational dining …

From what has been said, set dining will be assigned a specific dining room for their dinner meals. According to X’s site, you can attempt to eat at one of the other restaurants if they are available.

We are currently assigned to the early seating and I have been unable to change this time to anytime dining. We are on a waitlist to change so we can attempt to try all the main dining g restaurants as well as some of the specialty restaurants.

  5. I think this is an excellent idea. We are on a back to back sailing in March, concierge class in an accessible cabin. I understand this will have an infinity balcony. I am making an assumption that the bed will be by the bathroom, as this is the way they are usually set up. At this point I have not seeing any photos of these cabins. We will be on deck nine. If anyone has the opportunity to post some pictures of these cabins it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This has been posted elsewhere but the attached USA Today article has pictures of the Infinite Veranda cabins and other areas of the new and exciting Edge!

  6. Thank you steamboats. Amazing pictures - a lot more detailed and the 360s are fabulous! On this one you get a closer look at the electricals next to the bed - the bottom one has something coloured on it but still not sure if it's a socket!

The bottom electrical almost looks like it might be an open/close for the shade as it doesn’t appear to have any type of sockets. Will be interesting to find out!

This whole process of speculation is fun!!!

  7. It has been fun speculating on such a novel ship. I did not interpret comments as complaints... more observations. It is intended to be a disruptive ship... trying new things. Some will work and some probably will not. We will see, but I have found it fun to speculate and then learn what is what as the ship comes to life. I really think it has a nice profile.. I know some disagree. But that is okay. I do find it ironic that people tell others not to complain while at the same time telling us all the MC is a complete waste of money. Do as I say not as I do.

    Amen!

Speculation is not complaining, it can be seen as voicing possible concerns. We (and Celebrity for that fact) won’t know the impact until paying customers are on board. I believe cruise lines really look for our reviews and critiques to help them determine what does and does not work.

  8. I saw something on a thread about couches in rooms without the square (double sofa) or triangle (single sofa) on the deck plan. Hvsteve1 said " Spoke to Celebrity and got the answer. Suites without a sleeper sofa will have a "lounging" sofa which is open at one end (think chaise lounge)."

Guess as ours is a two person only, we’ll have the chaise lounge type sofa....works for me!!!

    From Celebrity:

"A new complimentary venue, Grand Plaza Café is perfect for a quick, satisfying savory or sweet snack on the go before or after you venture ashore. In the morning, it offers a variety of freshly baked French and Danish pastries. Later, stop by for an afternoon pick-me-up of mini sandwiches, such as the Roasted Turkey and Cranberry Ciabatta, and the Curry Grilled Chicken Wrap."

I am pleasantly surprised that they will have so many choices for a bite to eat on port days. One of our issues has always been the lack of choices to eat after going to shore - many times we would rather not do the buffet. We often want something light to tide us over until dinner, so a mini sandwich would be nice here or something from Eden Cafe (they will have salads, sandwiches and paninis)- we could grab something and bring it back to the stateroom balcony.

It's funny, but one of our guilty secrets is to have some gelato for lunch, if we aren't too hungry and plan on eating dinner early. Well, maybe we will have some healthy protein at the Grand Plaza or Eden and then have a gelato. ;)

Here's a list of dining times for some of the complimentary areas. It looks like Eden and Grand Plaza Cafe will be open until 2:30. There is always the Mast Grill, Spa & Juice Bar, Cafe al Bacio baked goods and the buffet, of course.

I like the furniture and overall look of the Grand Plaza Café but not thrilled with the colors. Just not a beige/neutral person I guess, but it does look great! The turkey and cranberry ciabatta has me salivating! Ready for one right now!

  10. Great photos...my take on the latest batch

Agree that the plug box is awful...takes up too much space but maybe we can put our tablets on top while they are charging. Older style in the console was better.

Matresses are really two that make it a King..way too big for the space. I am marked for a non cashmere due to allergies...hopeful they will have it for me. We usually sleep in queen size in a much larger room, which is quite adequate! They should downsize!

We will have bed by balc, in AQ cabin, not our prefered layout, but it may actually work better because the bed is so huge. Cabins overall disappointingly low end, The lamp is a joke!

Hope the shower is not as small as it looks!

    I use Bigelow lavender...love it.

Hope we see the closet interiors soon. Looks small next to the couch in one pic..

Eden and Rooftop look fabulous..They have color...very nice. Other public

spaces are plush and lovely but looked a bit washed out in the photos yet are all amazing .

    Can't wait for more...esp spa!

I like the king size bed! We sleep on a queen at home but share with a medium dog who thinks she is a Great Dane and tried to take up 3/4 of it!

I thought shower looked larger (normally have a tub on Princess and Carnival) and was glad to see that it wasn’t a small plastic shower curtain that clings to you like we had the one time on our 1st Carnival Cruise.

I do agree the cabins overall are a little bit boring. Just not a grey/beige/cream neutral person. Know that these are the “in” colors in design but not for me!

Not sure if I understand the color scheme of the “dressers”. The white and wood grain just looks blah. I would assume the white component will hold the hairdryer and the refrigerator below so that leaves three usable drawer spaces and that’s it????

I thought one of their intentions was bigger staterooms and better storage. Not sure if we’re seeing better storage but the cabin will “feel” larger when the bifold doors are open.

  12. You’ll love Celebrity, for sure it is in a total different category than Canival trust me. For me some of today’s pix were a bit not your typical Celebrity ship. The funnel reminded me of Carnival and some features of NCL, but my mind is open so I’ll see on 11/27 and again on 1/20.

Celebrity is our cruise line of choice.

Looking forward to Celebrity!!! Carnival has been ok (for sailing with family) loved Princess and right now until we try the Edge would be our cruise line of choice. To me some of the pictures were colorless although know all decor is not yet in. Seemed monotone and as I said somewhere else I love colors and patterns.

  13. Posted this earlier but it got lost in the many pix recently posted:

“So loved all the pix today but who is Celebrity trying to compete with; NCL, Carnival...? I guess I’ll find out on Nov 27.”

Doubt it’ll be Carnival think it looks more upscale compared to Carnival and we generally sail Carnival for my other half’s family reunions as they sail out of Charleston which is convenient for the family. Have t been on NCL since 1991 so not sure how much they’ve changed. This will be our first cruise on Celebrity.

  14. That’s what duck tape is all about. Just lay the extension cord down and put duck tape over it. My skinny dh uses a CPAP and we’ve been doing this for years. Also we don’t know what sockets will be next to the beds. Stay tuned,

That’s true. Still think I’ll travel without it. Side tables don’t look like they’d hold much more than the lamp from some of these pics. Also think there is enough blah colors so don’t think I want to add the color of duct tape into the scheme.

  15. The plug box takes up way too much space. Would be much better built in the wall.

Also don’t like it being that far away from the bed. Wasn’t planning on bringing my CPAP and this just about seals the deal. Can see me tripping over the extension cord getting the machine to the bed.

Do like that it has USB ports!

  16. I think we will all need to wear bright colors to brighten up the staterooms. ;) Actually, when the duvets, pillows, pictures, etc. are in place, it will look a lot better. I'm surprised they didn't mock up the cabins a bit better to show the media and TAs. I guess they wanted to show off the cashmere mattresses. ;)

VT didn’t think of the mattresses they do look quite comfortable, hope they are as soft as they look plush!

  17. Sorry, Tall-Cruiser, I thought everyone had gone to bed and I just kept posting. Too excited to go to bed! :D

These are exciting! Not sure about the palette for the IV and bathroom, maybe little too beige/grey. But I have a red kitchen and grape green living/dining room and even though I’m a very quiet person tend to wear bright and colorful pattern shirts, pants and socks!

  18. I am going to have to have at least 2 cocktails for my Eden dinner. It is a bit over the top for me - I'm not even going to warn my DH. If I get asked to participate, I will run (I'm not getting on the dangling moon and I'm not dancing with Snake Man!). I am going for research only, although the keepsake menu with embedded basil seeds to plant at home will make it all worth it! ;)

I did the like the sound of the keepsake menu! It’ll be fun to see how long it’ll take for me to kill the bail if it decides to grow for me (pure brown thumb here)!

  19. I found this interesting take on Eden. Now I am not sure when it was published... but given that talks about entertainment... it could be fairly recent. Interested in peoples reaction. I could see doing this once, and perhaps that is the idea. A real wow factor to bring home and post about... vs steady diet. http://www.cruisington.com/revealed-the-tasteful-sinful-details-of-eden-on-the-new-celebrity-edge/

Kearney, great find on this article. Has more information than I’ve seen before on some aspects of Eden.

The food and design of the space sound/look interesting. Have to admit the snippet of entertainment they showed left me bored and disinterested. The “song” and “singer” were irritating. As far as dinner and a show I guess for me it would depend on when this occurs....are we eating or between courses? I would probably find this entertaining between courses but not during the course.

Am still very interested in giving Eden a try although another concern is the exact menu choices as it was difficult to discern if there are any vegetarian options for my other half who’s love of meat does not extend much past ground beef in Mexican, Italian or basic hamburgers.
