  1. The press does not distort crime in Mexico; if anything, crime there is vastly under-reported. While I agree that crime probably isn't much on an issue in Cabo and PV, it is still very good advice for any traveller to do their own research and assess their individual comfort level. People's opinions on this topic have very little real value . I travelled about 35 times to Bogota in the 1980's and never had one problem - but that doesn't mean that it was a safe travel destination.

Media doesn't distort crime in Mexico? Thanks for the laugh.

  2. see. on the Liberty is is Not like that.

see in the first picture where the table and chair is--

that was on the other side of the vanity-- where in your picture the vanity is right against the wall.

in your first picture the closet is in the hall down by the door.

On the liberty its against the vanity and is in the room some what.

in yor picture there is space between the vanity and the closet which would give you more floor space.

on the liberty the floor space is down by the cabin door. (who needs space by the door-- i'd rather have it in the cabin.

the tv in the picture is a very good angle.. where on the liberty its down a bit-- like over by the pillow area.

our vanity was the opposite of yours.

you had the wall- that table and chair. the vanity, (our mirror was on the other side of tv, shelves, etc. then the closet. then open space then the door.

I really hope they moved the closet down a few feet--- it would make all the difference in the world and it shows in your photos.

The Splendor L-shaped cabins are just like you explained about the Liberty. However we had a flat screen tv on the wall directly across from the bed. I liked being able to put the luggage in that extra space by the door. It made it easy for us to put our dirty clothes in it without having to pull the luggage out from under the bed.

  3. As a CCL shareholder, I'd like to thank you for this! :p

You're willing to pay more for something you probably won't use, just so you won't feel quilty every time you order a drink? Seriously?

This is just incomprehensible to me. You spend the money for the drink program if it saves you money. That is the only sensible reason to purchase it. Really. Trust me. I'm an accountant. ;)

I mostly only drink wine while cruising. Beer doesn't leave enough room for al the food I want to eat, and I normally just purchase a wine package and bring on my one bottle. And I wouldn't want to feel compelled to drink more just to get my money's worth!

There's no way I would purchase this package unless I was positive it would save me money. I prefer to spend my money on other things. Every dollar I don't spend on something I don't need is another dollar that can go toward my next cruise. And, yes, I prefer to actually remember my cruise when I get home! :D

I'm surprised that those who want >15 drinks a day aren't more interested in spending their vacation dollars at an all-inclusive. That $100/day per couple that you're spending on these cards would go a long way toward paying for your room at an AI.

    Makes perfect sense to me!

  4. Yea....to each his or her own....but I would rather spend 50 bucks a day on an open bar package than buy overpriced liquor in the ports and make nightly donations at the casino. Between the bar tabs in the ports and the money dropped at the casino, I would have to wager that you dropped over 350.00 over the course of the week.

But of course, that's why they make vanilla and chocolate, different people have different tastes.

Yes to each his own. We don't pay for overpriced drinks in port we can do that on the ship. What I save on the drink package would be a wash in the casino. I like vanilla :)

  5. It's just like any casino in Vegas or Atlantic City....you gamble and they comp your drinks.....now, if they gave you free drinks the rest of the day poolside or at the piano bar or comedy club at night, that would be really getting something, but in reality, you're paying for those drinks through your casino donations.

I would be paying for the drinks in the casino anyway every night so yes I am getting free drinks. I actually received the free drink card on their money which makes it even sweeter. That is the reality.

  6. We actually rarely drink at all in ports, unless we do an all inclusive, which is rare. I'd rather drink water all day and do ATV, snorkeling, and other such excursions, then drink cocktails all night on the ship. This cruise is all about relaxation, as I am recovering from two surgeries - so no active excursions are possible for us anyway - I think hanging out on board and enjoying tasty beverages will be the perfect way to spend 7 days.

Hope you feel better surgery sucks :)

  7. The people in your group were the exact target audience that Carnival wants for the program. On sea days, they'll drink and get their monies worth on the program, but on port days..they will go ashore and do what they always do, drink cheap beer with the locals in the sun all day, come back on board and maybe have 2 drinks the rest of the night and Carnival makes out, even though they have the opportunity to drink from say 5:00PM-1:00AM and it's easy to drink five $9.00 drinks over the course of 8 hours.

If you're going to purchase the Cheers program and you want to make sure you get your monies worth, all you need to do is adjust your drinking patterns when in port, meaning....drink water or soda. You have an open bar waiting for you back on board and if you're back by 5:00, you could drink for the next 10 hours....why sacrifice that opportunity and spend more money ashore on cheap beers or not so cheap alcohol at Margaritaville...Senor Frog's...etc.

You gotta have a game plan....people are on CC to gain knowledge and map out a strategy when it comes to shore excursions, alternative dining and other aspects of their cruise. Be smart and use the Cheers program wisely and you'll save yourself money, or go blow it at Senor Frog's or Margaritaville and even though you'll have your 3 foot plastic yard glass, Carnival will be the ones laughing all the way to the bank.

Yeah drink water in ports LOL! Not! That is why I would not purchase it.

  8. Some people are saying sodas counted towards the 15 drinks - which is beyond unacceptable. If my 13 year old son can pay $35 for the whole week for a soda card and have 50 sodas a day if he chooses, but I can pay $50 a DAY and be limited to 15 SODAS on that card, then there is a big problem.

Yeah that makes no sense. I would think they would only track the alcohol. We don't drink sodas.

  9. Clear is that the " Young generation " drinks more than the " Old generation". My parents don't use the Program because they don't drink so much in 1 day. But for me it is Okay.. Some Cocktail and Beers at the Day and a few Cocktails at Night.. If i am at the evening in the Nightclub, i wanna celebrate and drink also few Drinks, well understood in the ordinary sense.

You need to try it for yourself and see if you like it. Most in our group were ordering more often than not just to get their monies worth. And they are big drinkers. In port we were gone all day drinking cheap port drinks with the locals. So those days they didn't get their monies worth.

  10. I was at other Ships with ALL YOU CAN DRINk, there was nothing with a " Flag " or " Stop at 15 Drinks ". Just Drink and enjoy it.. Also Carnival told me in a Mail that they know nothing about a " 15 Drinks Limit "

Honestly there doesn't seem to be an issue on the ships. Most people don't drink until they pass out. Most the people that I know that bought it said it wasn't worth it because they didn't drink that many drinks. Especially on port days.

  11. Okay. So that means if you still Okay after 20 Drinks they give you more. Clear is if you are Drunk then NOT. If you have no Card, the can not Cut you of or what ? Normaly YES because if you are Drunk.. Really Confuse..

Not confusing at all. If you are falling down drunk you will more than likely be cut off. Regardless if you have the card or not.

  12. Im a union bartender and I can refuse service to anyone without getting in trouble with a manager. But our managers back us up as we are doing the right thing for both the customer and the employer and are certified and trained to identify problems.Im pretty certain cruise line staff is not really trained (or care) properly.Im sure they are like the million of people who "bartended while in college"

That's why managers get paid the big bucks. Most establishments around here the bartenders don't need to deal with crap like that. Sure they can make the call, but more likely than not the customer is going to ask for management.

  13. Then that is DEFINITELY not what was stated should happen. The 15 drink flag was supposed to be to make sure a passenger was not intoxicated before continuing to serve drinks. If the passenger is deemed okay for serving, they should receive additional drinks for FREE.

In all honesty I only saw one person in our group drink more than 15 in one single day. That is alot of drinks. And on the port days Carnival made money on the card.

  14. So they just cut everyone off at drink 15? This is not the way it's supposed to be done.

No that's not what I said. After the 15 they will charge your sail and sign card. That is if you are not falling down drunk. However I am sure there are ways the bartender can work it. Just like the drinks on us card in the casino they are only suppose to serve you every 15 minutes so you can't order 2. Well they gave me 2 at a time and just had me sign one receipt and 15 minutes later they gave me the second receipt. My hubby drank for free too.

  15. Thats absurd and I cannot believe a spokesman for a company would write this. The bartender is responsible all the time and should have the proper training to see when someone needs to be flagged and not need to get a manager to make that decision. The 100 pound lady who drinkis like a fish and the 300 pound man who takes prescription meds have a different tolerance level

I have seen bartenders alert their managers on several occassions in the States. I would think the manager makes the final decision. Takes the heat of the bartender.
