  1. Thanks for the info. We really really enjoy going to port. Maybe cruising isn't the best option for us then if we shouldn't visit them if they require more than the health cert only.

From my research every single port we have they all require more so I don't think the service dog is an option at all then this time and maybe we will have to stick to land vacations.

  2. Hi,

First off, this thread is HUGE! I have been googling, and researching, and have even found some of the I need to know about traveling with my husbands SD.

We are in the liberty on Dec 6th:

    Barbados

    St Thomas

    St Kitts

    St Lucia

    St Maarten

Can anyone help me out with requirements to these ports?

I am pretty sure we are too late in the game, but all the info I have found is so mind bogling.

    THanks

  3. We are not into the big crowds of the all inclusive type beaches. We are looking for the best quiet beach that not crowded with thousands of people..... but.... still has to have a bar!!! Maybe even bar service??? lol

    Suggestions?

  4. Sorry to revive this but I wanted to know how he did. My dad has agreed to come on a Carnival cruise with me this year. He's a 70 year old Vietnam veteran that spent 40+ years driving a semi truck to cope with his PTSD. My mom passed away last October and he told me he wanted to go because she always wanted to. So of course, we are a bit concerned! How was the muster drill? Did you guys do okay at embarkation?

    Thanks in advanced!

He did actually pretty well. He was probably the worst on the plane out, but managed with his medicine.

Embarkation went pretty good. we had FTTF pass so that helped avoid the long lines and crowds.

When they called muster we just went to the nearest carnival employee and asked for the disability muster station and we were directed to that deck. He was more nervous about the unknown but once we got to where the disability muster was he was ok. It was on the deck where all the pictures are displayed, and we stood in our own little picture cubby.

Note that carnival DOES muster outside on the decks.at all costs... DO NOT go there. we did that prior to my fiances Injury and while it was cramped and horrible n hot and ppl crowded around u literally... We managed then but he would NEVER manage that now.

Good luck on your cruise. I recommend a balcony where he can enjoy the sea on his own as well.

  5. We are driving in all the way from MN a day early for our cruise in Nov, and my friend coming with us has never seen the ocean, and we want to be able to stay near port somewhere where we can talk a quick walk or drive to see the beach quick the night before.

Any hotels that are NEAR POM that offer free parking while we are on our cruise? We dont NEED a shuttle to Port as we will take a taxi anyways the morning of.

We do not want to stay in the airport area if possible.

    Thanks!

  6. Something is wrong there.

I've had multiple agents tell me that once Early Saver, you're always an early saver and you cannot lose that status if you're price matching unless you price matched to a lower type deal like super saver (which doesn't let you select rooms etc)

I agree.. Something seems odd. I too thought You were alwasy and early saver, even if you apply for an OBC from a sale rate????

  7. What ship are you on? We will be on the Splendor on Nov. 30Th. We sail that time just about every year. Not much Children. But on that note My daughter's family will be with us and she has 3 kids, 12 year old boy then a 6 year old girl, and a 2 year old boy. 8. We are sailing Nov 30th. The Sunday just after Thanksgiving. I am NOT a kid person, and truly didnt even think of it, when I booked this cruise. I have read that there are a TON of kids on during the week of thanksgiving, but Im hoping that most of them have to go back to school come Monday, so to anyone who has sailed starting that weekend right after Thanksgiving, how have the kid crowds been?

This will be our 4th cruise, and Ive never really noticed too many annoying kids on past cruises but this is our first time cruising near a holidy. we have cruised in Dec, Jan, and Early Nov in the past.

  9. yep... gotta keep checking. If you are on your roll call you can post on there to ask others to help u keep an eye out for each other, if other people are waiting too.

They usually release about 15 at a time, but not neccesarily. the amount they release depends on # of plat/diamon passengers.

  10. my reccommendation for the sea sickness is the scolpomine (sp?) patch. I have used this, as have my daughters. I was fine the first day or two on my first cruise. It wasnt until day 3 that I got sick. I started taking dramanine but i got SO drowsy that I did was sleep. cant be sea sick when your sleeping, but what fun is that? The next cruise I asked my doc for the Scope patch. Its a tiny patch the size of a dime, and you place it behind your ear. Very discrete, and it lasts for 72 hours, so you only have to change it once mid cruise. I used this on my 2nd cruise, and NO sea sickness at all, and I didnt feel that drowsy effect like with dramamine, and I wasnt having to deal with popping pills. You can get it from you doctor, and they are probably very used to prescribing it for cruise people. my doc knew right away when i asked for it. good luck!

  11. We booked early saver for the breeze sailing Nov 30th. I have been trying to check everyday, as best I can but I read threads on here that talk about checking 2-3 times a day.

Do I really need to check that often this far out? How many people see fare changes occuring so frequently 8 months out?

I know once we get 1-3 months out that when the prices tend to start to drop, or this that not the case? wondering when ppl find the most drops tend to happen, and if checking daily is fine for now?

  12. We stayed with 4 ppl in a suite last year on the dream and it wa soooo worth it for the extra space. It has a dressing area seperate from the Bathroom. That came in handy as one could change in the bathroom and one in the dressing room.

We loved loved the priority boarding and other perks of the suite!!!!

As far as the sofa bed being comfortable, our girls who are teenagers didn't complain..

    Go for it!

  13. Has anyone stayed at one or both of Hampton in Brickell, or Holiday Inn POM?

Being from MN we always fly in a day early, so we will have a day in MIami to shop around, and see the beach etc.

This is our 4th cruise. Last year we stayed at the Interonctinental, the year before the doubletree - I liked their is proximity to the port on tjhe day of sailing, but we have stayed near bayside market 2 years in a row now, and I kinda want to check out the Brickell Village area?

Is Hampton Inn the better choice of trying out? or should we stay close to port again at the Holiday Inn POM? which is more worth it? Being close to port on sailing day, or a little farther away and get to check out a new area? which would you choose?

We are a 2 -young 30 somethings couples who arent HUGE party-ers, but like an active area with good resturant options for supper and a few drinks etc.
