  1. I'm booked on Majesty to Cuba on September 26th. I read that you don't have to buy your "visa" on the ship but have to buy it before boarding (even RCI says on their website that you can get it elsewhere). Article said it could be cheaper to have it before sailing. Has anyone done this and where did you get your card? Thanks!

  2. Just got an email from Carnival. The port is closed Saturday in Charleston. The cruise that is out now will come in a day late (if they reopen the port on Sunday). The cruise I was scheduled to go on Saturday, will go out on Sunday We will get a refund for that one day we missed via a check in the next 3 weeks. We will change from Nassau, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay to Freeport and an overnight stay in Nassau. OK with me - I've been to all those ports before. I just like being on the ship!!

  3. We have put Carvial Hub on our phones and plan to use them only for texting each other on the ship. I understand that you put your phone on Airplane Mode and it's a $5 one time fee for "chat". For anyone that has used it, is this correct? I don't want to come home to a big cell phone bill !!! Thanks!

  4. I booked my October 8th from Charleston back at the beginning of the year. When I went to add my info (credit card, etc) for signing in, it asked me to pick a time. I picked the earliest time available - 11:30 to 12:00.

Is the check in time only for checking in and not for boarding??

    Thanks!!

  5. A couple of years ago, my friend had left the dinner table to go to the restroom. She left her purse hanging on the back of the door in the stall. By the time she got back after realizing that she had left it, a lady brushed past her running from the restroom and the purse was gone. She looked at pictures of all the passengers in the security office, but could not identify the woman. It was formal night and everyone was dressed up. The pictures taken upon embarkation were casual. She lost $400.00 !!

  6. Glad you like it Sky. We had fun. Small ship and I didn't get lost! I wanted a relaxing time. Didn't want to do to much, and didn't feel pressured to! I will tell you that we had late seating and service was slow. It seemed to be our area, not the whole dining room. This was unacceptable if you are a complainer. My husband and I go with the flow but MIL, not so much! Bar staff was great everywhere but the dining room. I never got my wine with dinner the first night, but hey, problem solved, walked into the dining room with wine the second night.

Had the problem of slow service this past October on the Valor. We had early seating, but were always one of the last tables to leave. Most other tables were cleared and already set up for the late seating. We never did figure out why.

  7. Last time I was at Half Moon Cay, I brought the $1 blow up floats you can get at Dollar General or Dollar Tree. We blew them up, used them for a while and gave them to a child when we were ready to go back to the ship. Saves lots. I'll be doing that again in October !!!

  8. BRING your hairdryer! They don''t weigh much, and you'll be glad to have it! Stuff the nose into one of hubby's shoes to save space.

Not every ship supplies hair dryers in the rooms. Sometimes you can ask for one, but they go quickly. And you have to keep the button pressed down while you are drying. They do this so you won't leave it running when you leave the room.

  9. I have only cruised CCL. I've just scheduled my 11th cruise. Under the new rewards system, I have 2 more 7 day cruises (after this cruise)before I hit Platinum. Under the old system (10 cruises) I would already be Platinum. I hate they changed it to how many days you cruise rather than number of cruises. I understand why they did it - but I don't like it !!! Thank goodness I travel with a "Platinum" friend !! :D

  10. Call them ahead of time.

there is a small walk, Or a 2 dollar cab ride to where the tour agents pick you up. (Spend the money)

the cost all depends on what you want to do, but its cheaper and less crowded than any of the on-ship options.

I think it was the best $$ spent all trip

I just booked with Bodden !! He sent instructions that included how to get the $2 cab ride. That is so worth it. I need the exercise but that's a bigggg hill !!!
