Paradise Tattoo,
Welcome to the thread. Thanks for posting the bags you made. What type of fabric did you use? Was the anchor applique or embroidery?
Yes...awesome bags!

However, I could buy a cruise with that money. Decisions.......too many hobbies\not enough cash :D:D
Isn't that the truth about some of the new machines! I'd love to upgrade too but since the ones I currently have do the job, I'm sticking with cruising for now! Haha!

Great review, Lisa! Thanks for sharing your cruise and pictures! I've been on that itinerary and LOVED it, but you gave me some great new ideas and tips...and I am booked for a first-time Calabaza trip in Barbados next March! I'll be on the Jewel for the first time in December! BTW, nice group of AZ Cruisers...maybe I'll run into y'all some time, some where...

What an awesome thread this is! I have a Janome sewing/embroidery machine and a BL serger. I like to make fun zipper/tote bags for cruising and have thought about getting back to sewing clothes for me. All your posts, ideas and tips, and photos of some really cute pieces have inspired me! Sewing cruise outfits would be a fun place to start!

I'll just start this by quoting the saying "to each his own". Personally, we love El Convento for the location and the experience of a small, luxury hotel. It is right in the heart of Old San Juan and we like that experience and "culture". The rooms are luxurious and you feel pampered just being in the room. They have a wine and cheese social that is no additional cost to participate every evening for one hour starting at 1800. The rooftop pool is super small (maybe 10x12) and there is one Jacuzzi. So, don't go here for the pool and beach experience. Although, they do have an agreement with two properties (LaConcha and Courtyard) to use those facilities via shuttle. We had so much fun touring Old San Juan we didn't even use the beach option and we had PLENTY of pool and beach once cruising.
LOVE your review! Thanks so much, specifically, for sharing details and pics of El Convento! We love to spend a few days in OSJ before setting sail and are ready to try a small local hotel and sounds like this is the one! We'll be on the Jewell (first time!) next March...WOOHOO! Looks like a beautiful ship!
