  1. We cruised on the Jewel to Canada/New England and on the Adventure to the Southern Caribbean (see dates in signature line). I loved the Solarium on the Jewel...it was quiet, great for reading, etc. However, we missed things like the larger Promenade, ice show, etc that Adventure has.

Look at the floor plans and what there is to do on each ship - that should help you decide. If I had kids, I would opt for the Adventure. We do not have kids and always figure those with kids probably love the bigger ships b/c there is more to do.

  2. It doesn't seem to upset her. We board her at our vets and she likes it there. It's a family place and they treat her special. Still, she'll be glad to see us when we get back. I do bet she'd enjoy the buffet on the cruise much better. She's tall enough to serve herself. She's too polite to do that but she is a foodie.

Super cute. We call our oldest dachshund a foodie too, he's 17.5. I'm anxious to bring him back gouda from St. Martin next month! He loves it!!

  3. I know this post is old, but thank you for the information. We have never attended a church service on a cruise before but are interested in doing so on our next cruise coming up in November. Even though we will be on vacation we would like to take the opportunity to praise God with others.

  4. Personally I like dogs, but it is because I like them that I would never subject one to a cruise ship. I've never had a dog that I would have thought would enjoy a week of hard floors under him. They need space outside to run and be animals.

I totally agree. Our four dachshunds are our "kids" and although we have often times joked about taking them with, a cruise is no place for them, for SO many reasons. I could go on & on about possible things that could happen. As hard as it is to leave them b/c they are seniors with medical problems and I would rather they are safe at nana & papa's house...where a vet is within reach...not in the middle of the ocean. Would they keep a vet next to the people doctor?! No thanks...

  5. The internet speed is sufficient for email, looking up something on the web -- basic things.

I switched my phone to airplane mode, enabled wifi and used iMessage to communicate with my 91 year old father at home. And it was great. He got a "play by play" and I was able to make sure he was ok. I also used the Glympse app to "text" him our location as we sailed. (It is not really texting with iMessage, thus, the quotes).

Emailing photos or large files was sllllooooooowwww. (I had to draft a document and email it for work and it literally took 20 minutes to send one Word letter via gmail). I wasn't able to successfully download or stream my audiobooks on Audible (download them when you still have cell coverage). And I couldn't stream any videos. Netflix doesn't have offline viewing -- so that was a bust.

But overall, for me, it was worth every penny. Not the fastest, but sufficient to keep me in touch with my elderly father.

This is exactly what I need it for...texting my mom & receiving messages from her to check on our senior/geriatric medical dogs. I'm nervous enough leaving them so I need to be in contact with her. If it's good enough to get through text messages & phone calls then I'm good...yea or nay?

  6. Speaking of the RC Visa card...my points were expiring so I redeemed them for cash towards a cruise, I now have $1,100 towards a cruise that needs to be booked prior to October...or can be applied towards a cruise already booked. Due to "life" right now I'm not able to go on a cruise, (yea I know  wish I would have paid attention to when they were expiring last year!!!), and I can't book one out either because of "life happenings" (health).

So I'm looking for someone who would be interested in buying the credit. I know, sounds like a gimmick. But, we can somehow do a 3-way call or chat or something to get it transferred, I've asked all the questions needed before I redeemed to make sure I could "gift" it & give it away if I had to and that the increments could be used together. Or make me an offer on the $1100. I hate for it to go to waste.
