  1. I have noticed this and I think it is because many of the cruisers are in fact interested in this. It is what it is. I found it odd to read they sell shots at dinner. It is a bit different atmosphere.

However I found this thread informative and appreciate the tips I learned, because I too am one of the ones interested in this.

RCCL sells B-52 shots at dinner. Is there something wrong with this?

  2. Great point. I hadn't even considered that.

Thanks. This helps ease my mind a bit. I won't have to worry about pre-planning CocoCay.:)

Hi Dorothy~Just to let you know, we are 4 for 4 in getting to tender to Coco Cay! :D It is beautiful and yes, you can pay for the slide, etc. when you get there. Enjoy your trip!

  3. Correct, BV purchase won't show up on your booking. Also don't be too worried if it isn't waiting for you in your room since you're FTFF.

In January I ordered a bottle via BV and had only email confirmations. Bottle showed up while we were out for the muster drill if I remember correctly.

Do bring the printed out email though just in case you get checked by Customs. I'd think you needn't declare the BV liquor if any were left since it was purchased in the US, and the email order confirmation should serve as your proof. Just conjecture though, haven't been searched yet.

    Thank you for the info!

  4. when you purchase something from bon voyoge where does it show up? I ordered something to be placed in my room on the first day and I can find it no where and I did not recieve and email even though I was asked for my email address?

I ordered vodka and FTTF and only the FTTF showed up on my booking. I did receive emails confirming both though. I called and she said that the liquor wouldn't be on the booking that it was ordered differently. I will be taking the email confirming the purchase though.

  5. It used to be that you could purchase liquor in the duty free shops during the cruise and take it directly to your room.

Later they offered something like a bottle of Bacardi to be waiting in your room for around $30.

Now, that same bottle of Bacardi for your room is $70! Are you kidding me? They charge the same for Bacardi as they do Gran Marnier. Sheesh!

I think it's greed, pure and simple, but that's just me.

I smuggle and will continue to smuggle. We still purchase lots and lots of drinks from the bars, but come on - I like to have a cocktail in my room once in a while. One 5th of rum lasts two of us a week on board, and our bar bills are well over $1000 for a week. They get our money. We gladly give it to them! But I'll be damned if I'm going to spend $70 on a bottle of rum. So there! LOL

I hear ya! I have smuggled before and wouldn't look down on anyone who does. I just decided this time to not worry about it being taken and paid out the a$% for some booze. I'm sure I will have some frozen drinkies too.

I'm just ready to go now!

  6. Hi jbychurch~

We did Dolphinaris on our Legend trip in 2012. It was a lot of fun!

I didn't buy the pictures, but I do recall that 3 pictures on a disc was around $80 usd. They wouldn't let us bring our cameras down to the swim area.

If one of your group is not swimming, they can stand up on the deck area and take pictures for you.

You can, and should, take a change of clothes. They have a changing area before you go down. It is best not to put on sunscreen before you go as they will ask you to rinse it off in their showers before swimming. You will probably want to change again after you swim, before lunch. The lunch is very good! They offer the lunch that comes with the excursion, but you can also order extra off of the menu.

We had children, but not very small ones. They have life vests for everyone.

When we got done at Dolphinaris, we walked a little ways and went to Margaritaville. They have awesome water toys and it is free-they do ask for tips though. We ordered some nachos and drinks and had a blast in the water.

I have a review in my signature, if you want to read it. There are some pictures too.

I hope you and your family have a great trip!

  7. It is, but it's Carnival in particular that usually takes a shelackin' in the media. Whatever happens on a Carnival ship is repeated over and over. For example, I have no idea what happened with Disney cruiseline. Haven't heard a thing about it.

A Disney Cruise Line employee was arrested yesterday for allegedly molesting a 13 year old girl while in port at Port Canaveral.

  8. what if your a single parent do you need evidence there is no absent one?

Is there a father on the birth certificate? I live in the States and there is no father listed on my daughter's birth certificate. When I went to get her passport, I was able to get it with no problem.

I asked the woman at the passport office if I would need anything else while traveling and she said no, the passport would be sufficient. I wonder if I should take a copy of her birth certificate too from now on, just in case.

We went to Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman and Honduras once and they didn't ask any questions. Have been to the Bahamas several times and no questions.

  9. Which reminds me of doing the Splendor to Hawaii cruise out of Long Beach last year.

BIG BIG wedding party did not arrive until 2pm. (we checked in at 9:30). Long Beach "holding room" is OUTSIDE. POURING RAIN....horrible.

Sorry....I do not understand why thousands of people had to stand out in the pouring rain for HOURS because of a wedding party. REALLY????

Plus ...they were the most obnoxious group of people for the whole cruise. They seemed to think they owned the ship. Ugh...just horrible.

Wow! I can't believe that they waited on them to board everyone else. I would have been livid! The people I know who are constantly late do think that the world revolves around them and have no respect others, so your last sentence doesn't surprise me. Ugh!

  10. Roatan is AMAZING! Look at my review. We had the BEST day there on a Victor Bodden private tour. It's gorgeous. You won't be disappointed!

I agree...we did a VB tour in Roatan and LOVED it! Kenny was our guide for the day and he was wonderful. He took us wherever we wanted to go and was happy to do it. Very beautiful!

We booked our own excursion in Belize too. We went cave tubing and it was a lot of fun too. If you have small children, please know that the hike through the rainforest is just that...a good hike and you may end up carrying little ones, along with the raft. Our guide did carry our smaller children's rafts though.

    Enjoy your trip!

  11. I mistakenly booked a handicapped cabin on the Legend and when I realized, like you, I called and let them know I was not handicapped and offered to move-I never was moved.

That cabin was huge. I was used to insides on RCCL and WOW. I booked a porthole coming up on our Sensation cruise. I am sure I won't be disappointed, but I am also sure it is going to be a lot smaller. :D

  12. Since our time was up, and our tour was over (well, we wanted to get some shopping in), we had Kenny take us back. Unlike pick-up, he was allowed to drop us off at the taxi stand, which did save us the walk a 2nd time.

We tipped Kenny generously and stopped for a photo with him, and we thanked him for his time!

<Saving this spot for a photo when I finally find it>

Then into the cruise port for a little shopping. Bryan was WIPED OUT again at this point, so into the carrier he went and QUICKLY asleep!

We eventually ended up at the Tanzanite International Store, and my wife's inner need for jewlery became too much... it is pretty though!

Then it was time to head back to the ship, stopping to take a picture infront of the Roatan sign

    <insert picture when I find it!>

And one more posing with the boat:

Roatan ranks up there in the top places we've been, and is on the top of the list of places to return to!!!

We had Kenny as our guide in Roatan too. He was great! We also did Dolphinaris and had a blast! I am loving your review. Thank you!

  13. If you read reviews from people that didn't like Belize, all of them have one thing in common: they didn't research and didn't explore beyond Belize City. Opinions from these people are unrealistically biased against a country that is, without a doubt, one of the secret gems of the Caribbean. It's unique and thankfully, not overly commercialized like other cookie-cutter destinations.

But I understand that not everybody feels comfortable unless they see a Señor Frog's or Margaritaville in a pretty Welcome Center. Heavens forbid that their make-believe image of the Caribbean is tarnished by the real thing!

I agree...we had a great time in Belize. The tender ride was just fine, no problems at all!
