Thank you so much for this link. Great info here.
One bit of info I found very interesting was this below.
Visa and MasterCard, the most widely accepted credit card networks worldwide, offer the best exchange rates, according to an Exchange Rate Study by CardHub.com. The study not only found that no international fee credit cards on the Visa and MasterCard networks serve as the best tools for spending money abroad, but also that they save international travelers an average of 7.9% relative to major banks and 14.7% as compared to an airport service on U.S. dollar-to-Euro exchanges. Even if one uses a credit card with the maximum 3% foreign transaction fee, he or she will still save 4.9% and 11.7% as compared to banks and airport companies, respectively.
no international fee credit cards on the Visa and MasterCard is what we swear by. Having said that, we have had problems with credit cards in Athens many times. We usually use cash in most of Greece, but we had no problems using credit in Venice or other parts of Europe.

I made the same mistake first time - bought some prepackaged in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. It was truly nasty. Second trip I was hesitant to try again but after some coaxing, I relented - I bought fresh, chose my poison & had it wrapped - it was wonderful!
I remember seeing TD in Izmir's Kemeraltı District - lots of shops from which to choose but cannot recommend any as I didn't purchase there.
We have been to Kudadasi before and did the whole Ephesus thing. This time our whole goal of the port is to find some turkish delight.

Any in IZMIR? We bought prepackaged stuff last time and assumed I just didn't like it. Maybe I'm ready to try again. We are only stopping in izmir, though.

We are going back and forth. We have never cruised either line. Only Royal twice, Disney once and HAL once. Our favourite has been Royal.
We will be going with the kids and they both have a fun looking top deck and good kids programs. We are doing europe so I am assuming there will be not as much time to enjoy these though.
Pros for 10 day CCL: -Longer cruise, more of Greece (kids want to see Greece more), finishes in Athens (we will be going to Athens after so no need to fly there)
Pros for 7 day NCL: -more time travelling around Europe, can start in Rome, so more time in Rome, cheaper and smaller rooms so we will need to book 2 balcony rooms because the inside rooms are way too small)

Thanks!

We are travelling with our children so can't book into havana but does the age limit hold after 5 too? If it's adults only in the evening I would love to take advantage of that without our kids.

Avignon is about a 70 minute drive from Marseille. We plan on renting a car and driving there plus stops at Pont Du Gard and/or Les Baux. I have also seen some private tours that go there as well.
Thanks. The kids want to "dance on the bridge". I told them I wasn't guaranteeing anything but we'll see.

I usually only do a couple months.
-
Our CAD has devalued quite a lot in the last 6 months, unfortunately. In the end, we are probably paying more once you factor in the exchange rate.
-
Is Avignon too far from marseille to visit?
-
If you watch the promo video I think it gives an idea how to access all those rooms.
-
No, both cruises set sail in 2016.
Sorry. I missed that the first cruise was in the caribbean.

Hmmm. Going between the 10 day may 14 and the 8 day august 26. One ends in Athens, saving us a flight there after and it goes to Crete. The other one we don't have to take the kids out of school...dh just thinks it will be too hot. The whole trip both times are the exact same amount of time so it's a matter of cruising vs family visiting.

You want to cancel your trip is year to go next year? I'd go this year and keep your plans.

We had planned to see Olympia but my father in law (whom we were spending another week after the cruise in athens) called and said he planned to take us to Olympia when we were seeing him so we could see the countryside and what not. So we decided to just walk around. We sat on the beach and ordered drinks and swam. That's it. And it was wonderful!

Ok, I'd like to pack light-ish. I can just take running shoes then? Cool! And thanks.

I was going to bring my winter boots too. Can someone put up a link to some kind of boot that would be appropriate?

We are going to splurge at one port, compromise at another, and hopefully do the other for free.
So far we are planning the ships Tracey arm excursion in Juneau, rented a car in Skagway (less than half the price of the train, though we may decide on the train after all and cancel our reservation), and something free hopefully in Ketchikan.

This so far is the most reputable Canadian page I have found so far. I'm trying to find something on the government site. I have a car rented in Skagway too, so I want to make sure.

I've found a few dresses that can be folded up small that are still appropriate for formal nights (not my fav dresses, but to pack light I'll take them), but not sure if dh will have enough space for a suit if we don't bring a big suitcase. We'll see. Technically we can pack up to 1 suitcase each with no penalty on all but one of our flights. So we will just see.

I've rented a car in Skagway but I keep reading about how foggy it is there and how hard it is to drive. Maybe we should suck it up and take the train?

Hands down I'd choose disney if we were taking our kids. We are currently booked on the volendam (without kids) for a number of reasons and we are so excited about it.

Ships usually use the local time. When we were in the med, we had a bunch of time changes and we always went according to the local time.

I would think not on pre purchased items as that is already paid for.
