  1. [attachment=201856:name]

These were our formal dresses for our Mediterranean Cruise in October. By the last formal night my younger sister couldn't quite fit into her dress (due to all those buffets I suppose) so we recycled mine. The long black dress I purchased online for $50 on eBay, sent them my measurements and it fit like a charm. It's hard to see the detail and rouching in the pics. The shorter black one was reused from a wedding I was in a few years ago.
  2. First, I need to say how happy I am to have found this section of Cruise Critic!

I have picked out dresses to wear on my 10 day cruise (my first cruise). There are two formal nights on my cruise, but I have more than two formal dresses.

Would it be okay to wear a formal dress on a night that is not formal? Will I stick out too much?

    Thanks!

(I love having the "problem" of too many dresses!)

I wanted to add that I am going to the Panama Canal with Princess.

It really depends on how formal you are talking about. I'd feel a little out of place wearing a full length beaded/sequin gown on a non formal night but an elegant black dress or something soft and flowy could be pulled off any night. I typically wear very nice dresses on casual nights (many that were more expensive than my formal attire) that I suppose some could put into the "formal" category but nothing obviously formal but more understated elegance.

If you are comfortable standing out then go for it! It's your vacation, enjoy it the way you want. Just don't expect to see others dressed up as much as you.

You could always wear one in a specialty restaurant and let people assume you are celebrating a special day.

  3. Just wondering if anyone has ever bought from Addie_star on eBay and how the quality, sizing, shipping time was. I really like this dress but can't decide weather to try it out or not and which color.

I figure I can't go wrong w black, I love blue but have another blue formal dress, and sort of want to try red out.

Oh and I'm a size 8 5'7 avg/athletic build w long medium-blonde hair and blue eyes. Skin tone is not very tan but not totally pale either.

It's so hard to imagine a dress on me when they have them on size 0 models but unfortunately they haven't figured out a way to let me try clothes in through eBay before buying lol. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1347881828.225910.jpg.47d2554a8657a9baa9b4534696ab7a5d.jpg

    Suggestions?

  4. I recently discovered them on CC and LOVE them. They are great for organizing, which makes for easier unpacking. I pack some night clothes and underwear for our overnight hotel stay precruise. I also put our "embarkation" clothes in a separate bag.

I am kind of thrifty, so I just look for them at TJMaxx.

I love TJMaxx, Marshall's, Ross, etc. I just have to drive an hour to find one. I didn't think to check there. I got my luggage there for a steal, but didn't even think about them having luggage accessories.

  5. Thanks! And sorry for the poor photos. I originally took them just so that I could remember what they looked like in the store and later thought I might post them. I also should have specified that the 2nd one wouldn't have been for formal night. But I think for now I am going to pass on all three and keep looking.

  6. I would guess that this question has been asked already somewhere in this thread but being in my phone I can't search and there are just too many pages to sift through.

We are arriving to FCO the morning of our cruise departure and were considering touring Rome before heading to the cruise port. We should land before 8am and Cruise leaves at 5:00pm. We have no clue how much time it will take at the airport or how early we need to be at the cruise port but is there enough time to tour both the Colosseum and Vatican/St.Peters/Sistine Chapel? What is feasible to do in the time between airport and cruise port?

Also if our plane were to be delayed, does anyone know what their policy is?

    Thanks!

  7. Thanks so much for your feedback. I had looked up what the typical temp is during the time we will be there but had been unlucky thus far finding out what was actually helpful to pack. It seems that with fluctuating weather I'll have to pack a little extra and plan for different types of weather.

Were you ever able to enjoy any beaches or were they all too cold? We sort of wanted to at least take a short dip in the water one day just to be able to check off "took a swim in the Mediterranean" on the bucket list.

Do they have the solarium closed in the ship so that pools are inclined or was it open to the elements?

What type of clothes did people wear for dinner(or in general)...fall attire or beach attire (I know beach attire sounds funny but I've noticed that you still see sundresses worn for dinner on a December Caribbean cruise).

    Thanks again!

  8. I was on the Millie last fall. Rich was the cruise director. Is there any way to know who the activities staff was? I remember one in particular was a shorter, dark completed, male from Miami. I use to know his name but have now forgot. I'd live to sail on a ship he was on as he was always full of life

  9. I am considering getting a prepaid sim card to use while on land In Italy Greece so that I can use mobile apps, maps, email, social networks, and other data sucking things lol. I'm mainly interested in data/internet as I do not anticipate doing much texting or talking.

Does anyone have info on how to do this? I have an iphone4s that I don't care to jailbreak.

I've tried looking online but feel that I'm running in circles and would like some advice from someone who has done it or knows how it works.

    Thanks!!!

  10. So they have no problem with giving you A drink if you have a drink card reguardless of if you are actually that person? Does the pic or name come up or do they even slide your card? I may just save the trouble and have them pay for each drink but I'm soo afraid they will run up a high tab on a trip they are getting as a gift from the family. Last cruise on RCL their tab was about 1200 for a 7 day. Ouch!!!

  11. I posted a question on another thread but my parents both drink and are not very mobile want to get beverage packages. I don't drink at all but because of their immobility I have a huntch that I'll be their bar gopher.

Who's card should I put the packages on? Can I get their drinks for them? If i put it on mine can they drink at dinner? Can i put two drink packages on one card? Can I get more than one drink at a time?

Anyone have suggestions on how to do this smoothly and not cause a stir?
