  1. Solo cruiser for the last nine years. I have always been "adopted" by groups of people so I have never felt alone. I always take some time in the evening and look over the Compass and decide what to do the following day. I love the dance classes, morning and evening stretching and trivia. You can do as much or as little as you want and that is what I love about cruising! Have a blast!!

  2. Good evening!

I will be cruising in December for 12 days on Anthem and I want to use cash to settle the onboard account. I have always used a credit card in the past but because of a slew of erroneous charges from last June's cruise (and the amount of time it took Royal to remove them), I want to try something different this time around.

I would like to hear from anyone who has done this recently. The one question I have is can I pay the account in full daily so I don't have to wait in long lines at the end of the cruise to settle up?

    Thanks gang!!

  3. I cruised Anthem and Quantum out of NJ solo in 2015 & 2016. Will be going back on Anthem in December this year. Do it. You won't be disappointed!!! The ship is amazing. The single balcony cabins are awesome and I know you will meet lots of friendly folks on the cruise. I always do!! :D

  4. Hi everyone,

Single cruiser who decided on the spur of the moment to book on Anthem for the June 2 cruise. Super excited until I tried to make dinner reservations.

There is NOTHING available before 8:00 PM nightly which is way too late for me. :(

What would you do? Make the reservations for 8:00 then see if they can change them once I am onboard (which is always a nightmare)? Show up at 5:30 for dinner sans reservation? Call RCCL and see if they can work any magic?

I cruised on Quantum last year and they were able to seat me early on a couple of the nights without a reservation but I feel it would be rude to just expect that to happen right!?! :)

Thanks for your thoughts and happy cruising!!!

  5. Hi everyone!

I'm Lynette, 47 and a widow. I lost my husband of 13 years to a heart attack in 2008. So now it is just me and my two Shelties Darby and Brody.

I took my first solo cruise in 2009 at Christmas. It was hubby's favorite time of year and I just needed to get away. Had a fantastic time and I have booked two more solos: Allure in November and Epic in March.

    Nice to "meet" everyone!!!!! :D

  6. My first cruise (with my late husband) was on Holland America's Westerdam in November of 2000 out of Ft. Lauderdale. We went to Half Moon Cay and Nassau.

We were hooked! I lost my husband in 2008 but we were lucky enough to cruise together once more in 2002. Since then, I've been on 5 cruises with two more upcoming.

It really is the best way to vacation!

  7. I lost my husband David of 13 years in 2008 to a heart attack. I cruise because, like Jack and Rose on the Titanic, I promised that I would go all the places we'd wanted to go.

We'd cruised together only twice but it was going to be our vacation of choice. Since he passed away, I've been on 5 cruises (some solo, some with friends) and I have two more planned.

I have a memorial bead that has some of David's ashes in it so he is always with me.

    That's why I cruise!

    Lynette :o
