  1. In October my Husband and I will be on Magic for a 7 day Western Caribbean.

The husband is foreseeing being very bored on sea days.

He works in swimming pools and will not get in public pools. To many horror stories of what happens in pools. Yes the chemicals kill it....no he does not care how "clean" it is.

He is outside all day sun bathing will not be fun for him.

He is not a big gambler.

I am not sure what there is to do on a cruise ship. I heard there are shows. But I assume they are all at night. I don't want him to be bored. I can take a book and hang out in the sun and be fine as long as I get a drink once and a while.

My husband dreaded going on a cruise! He thought the same "he would be bored." He is now glad he went. He doesn't gamble or lay by pool or go in pool. He loves investigating the ship, listening to music playing, talking to people. Just loves the relaxing! If you have excursions planned during the port days, the sea days will be a welcome break! Husband also does not drink and he will be platinum in January when we sail on the magic for 2 weeks! Whatever he chooses to do have fun! Also just an FYI guys pig and anchor BBQ is open on sea days, it is also open the day you get on board ship, without lines! Enjoy your trip!

  2. Well then I hope that you never find yourself fighting cancer like my husband is. KETO helps patients with their chemotherapy. But then again, it's none of yours nor the crews business the reason behind medical needs and special diet requests!!!!!!:mad::mad:

I guess some things never change here on the Carnival Boards and Cruise Critic! Exactly why I try to avoid both.....

Exactly! I often wonder why people need to be so rude! CC is getting worse instead of better!

  3. good afternoon all! Just wondering if anyone had purchased and used the pixel packages offered pre cruise and how it worked out? Thinking of purchasing for daughters room, then we should be able to have pictures taken together included! Wondering if anyone had any comments good or bad about the packages! TIA

  4. I know there are always a bunch of posts about chair hogs so I did my own investigation.

Last week on the Fascination, All the chairs around the immediate area of the pool were taken ( a towel- a shoe- a book were placed on them) by 8:30-9am on the only sea day.

I decided to ask the pool attendants (there were several) if this was allowed?

I pointed out the 2 signs that were posted by Carnival (very strategically placed as well) stating that chairs that were not to be reserved. The signs went on to say any items left on chairs for more than 40 mins would be removed and kept at the towel station for safe keeping.

The response.....oh I don't know what that means???? We not touch guests belongings, it not allowed.......

I pointed out that there were 6 chairs right where we were sitting that no one had been sitting in during the 2 hours we had been there. There were so many people who wanted to sit by the pool but there were none available.

All I got was a shrug of the shoulders........I guess it means its ok to do. Another Carnival rule not followed.

    .

For what it is worth RCI, has same policy and I basically had to get loud with an attendant because they put a sticker on their chair and after 40 minutes things were to be removed. Needless to say 40 min. Came and went the other attendant wasn't going to take the things till I basically flipped out on him. So the rules aren't followed on other lines either

  5. Well I definitely prefer carnival over RCI. Just sailed 2 weeks (b2b on RCI) I am platinum on RCI and carnival. I received absolutely nothing on RCI being platinum oh sorry the free drink! On Carnival I get 2 free bags of laundry per week a platinum gift each week, priority boarding. Also carnival gave every b2b cabin a nice fruit basket and a group picture of all doing b2b. Nice touch if you ask me.

I do not sail for perks, I sail for relaxation and fun! Everyone has different opinions to what they like! So wherever it is you are having the most fun, stick with it!

  6. I booked through this company based on the many good reviews here on CC and the price was lower than some others I checked. The owner didn't exactly give me the warm and fuzzy sales voice I am accustomed to, but he seemed professional enough.

I was VERY specific that I was looking for a towncar/sedan as opposed to the mini van/shuttle vehicles I had read reviews on and was told I would get that. I am a solo passenger so if I am spending $130 plus I want to travel in comfort.

Now I'm concerned that I'll get left at my hotel in Universal or picked up late! Could some of those MANY executive vip fans out there reassure me that I made a good.

I would advise you to have a back up plan. It is 4 days after I was supposed to be picked up and I have not even heard an apology or an excuse for that matter! As I stated we paid the same for a taxi that I would have paid them. Good Luck!

  7. Yep I would never recommend VIP limo either. They were supposed to pick us up at Pet canaveral carnival yesterday morning (2/4) they never returned phone call or email. So we took a cab for 4 to MCO and it cost the exact same thing they were going to charge. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE.

    *port* Canaveral!

  9. When you describe the room as clean but the bed atrocious, I'm hoping you're saying the bed was uncomfortable. I'm staying there in November, you have me worried. I don't like dirty places.

When we stayed there 2 years ago the beds were sleep number beds and they were horrible! I really didnt think it was that clean of a place especially for the price. It is really close to the port. I wouldnt stay there again, but to each their own. Enjoy the cruise!

  10. I have been looking through the posts about James Touring, and this just is not true. The thread titled "James Tours or Spencer Ambrose? Can't decide - Help!" has 4 or 5 negative reviews. Some of the posters later said that James called them after they posted on CC and he apologized, but that doesn't take away from a bad tour.

Also, Martytap, alot of the positive reviews and comments are from you! You seem to be a constant cheerleader for James, even to the point of insulting people who have different opinions.

There are alot of "positive" comments about JAmes from people who haven't even toured with him yet. Their comments are solely about how quickly he answered their request for a tour, and "what good customer service." This is a recurring theme. Then it turns out that that one poster revealed that she was urged by James to post a positive comment about how quickly he responded. He even offered a free tour if she did this.

This makes me wonder about the authenticity of some of the "Positive" reviews.

First I want to say I took James Tours last year and it was a wonderful excursion well worth the money and time. We had 6 of us in a van 2 diabetics and one of the diabetics was handicapped. He was wonderful to our handicapped friend!! We did not want to spend time at a beach so James tailored the tour to suit our needs. The food we had was wonderful, even a full lunch was included. I know there are lots of cheerleaders for all the touring companies, but from experience you won't be sorry booking with James. I don't know about other drivers he has we did have James and had a blast. I am a VERY nervous passenger, and I never felt scared during this tour with his driving. I had seen other vans whipping around those roads and passing others and I was glad I wasn't in those vans. Not bashing other companies.

  11. I, too, received the Premier Cruise offer which we didn't use. I also had a casino rate on another cruise with $50 OBC for me and $25 for DH. We had to cancel that cruise and now we are booked on another for September and one for February.

I sent an email to the casino people and got a response that I would receive a Premier Bon Voyage package. I asked what it included and it was wine, water and a fruit basket. I asked why if I were eligible for cash on the other two cruise offers, why no cash at this time. I was told it was because those offers expired and although I did get the drinks are on us card on our last cruise, the amount I spent in the casino wasn't enough to warrant cash.

I found that interesting as I had more points on the last cruise I actually took and on that one I did get $50 casino cash as well as the other things. Makes no sense to me, but I think this time I will spend less money and time in the casino and enjoy some of the shows etc especially since my understanding is the casino on Liberty is very smoky.

I'm sure they have enough people playing in the casino that my "small" donations don't make a difference.

I am in same boat as you i emailed asking what their criteria is for getting comps cause i am definitely confused....that was last week and still no reply, so maybe they are still trying to figure out what they are doing.

  12. As I had posted in a previous thread I did the 8 day sunshine and got 7.5k points. they gave me a free cruise up to 8 days. I took the free cruise on the liberty and got $100 waiting for me. 9.5k points later they cut me down to a 3-5 day cruise which made no sense. I emailed the executive host but received no answer. I took my free cruise on the sensation but when I went up to the casino counter they had my name down with cash but crossed it out and put a yellow post it note with my name handwritten down with a 'No' next to it. Yep they actually took away my casino cash and tried to tell me it was because I was on a free cruise which is garbage as I got it on my last free cruise. I told her fine I had 17k points on my last 2 cruises and now I will simply not play in this casino and move on to NCL. Carnival is getting worse now and is no longer playable for casino comps. the good thing is with no casino I had a more relaxing fun cruise. Who knew

Way to bite the hand that feeds you Carnival. Fail.

YEP.. This same thing just happened to me, going on my 2nd free cruise and I was told i am entitled to NOTHING..After getting off my cruise inAugust with 11k points they told me same thing...well i will enjoy this cruise and look forward to booking with NCL, for the next one..goodbye carnival.

  13. They must have changed things, because I always get the drinks on us card as well as the free interior cabin on my bounceback offers, as I always get over the 5.000 points like you. Do you know if they are still issuing the drink cards to people who earn 1500 points on the current cruise? I am cruising on Monday and was told I would get the drink card. It better be there!

I have always received it also! They still offer the card at 1500 points. I am sure it will be there for you. I asked for their criteria for drinks card and was not given a reply. Great customer service!

  14. You won't go wrong with NCL. They are the best by far. I sailed with them once. Got a comp certificate through land casino. Upon entering my comped upgraded balcony from inside my drink cards were in there for all 3 of us in our cabin. I received about 2500 pts on that cruise and called to see what I could get for my next cruise. I'm booked on a comped balcony for me and DH with both of us receiving drink cards plus $150 free play. For a total of $639 for 2 of us on a 7 night on the Breakaway. Plus 10% off my sisters and my sons cabins.

NCL is the best by far!!!

Thanks for the vote on NCL will be looking into sailing them next year

  15. Many here like NCL for casino comps.

I don't know if you contacted the Ocean Players Club or Carnival Players Club. I have had better luck dealing with Carnival Players Club.

    Check out this thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2069526

Yes i have called them. Never had a problem with them till now, but then again i feel its because i won a jackpot on the sailing in august.

I was not asking about credits i was asking about comps. Thanks for the replies. I will just do some checking into other lines. To all that think you get a drink card at 5k points, it is NOT TRUE.

  16. I am writing for a few reasons. First which cruise line besides CARNIVAL gives decent perks with consistency? Second to vent and see if anyone else would know of a reason for this. I cruised in. May, earned 5k points and a free cruise offer. Booked free cruise for August, sent email and asked for drinks onus card pre cruise and was told yes! On my August cruise got card upon boarding and earned over 11k points on my August cruise. Another free cruise offer, booked for sep. emailed and asked for drinks card and was told i was already getting a free inside cabin so no other comps will be given unless they are earned. I asked for them to give me the criteria for comps and they ignored my request. So obviously I will be enjoying my free cruise in Sept. But i am not going to spend my money in their casino. So looking for new line that will be more consistent in there comps. Any advice will be appreciated. I always have well over 5k points each cruise.
