...bring your own DVD player and check out some movies from your library.
Have you done this? Wondering if access to the TV hdmi ports is easy? We are on an older ship this time..Vision. Would love to have this as a possibility!

Beer is between $7-$9. Mixed drinks $10-$12.
8 beers at $8 (average) = $64 + 2 mixed at $11 each brings you up to $86 with $14 to spare. Thrown in a few bottles of water ($2.50) and specialty coffee ($3.00), maybe a smoothie or fresh squeezed juice and that will easily cover the remaining balance and then some.
Most likely, you'll come out slightly ahead or break even. But the convenience of drinking what you want, when you want, where you want makes it worthwhile, even if you come a little under the breakeven point.
Thanks. Much easier to get the drink package if it's close!

Trying to figure out the best thing to do, beverage package or ala carte. Between the two of us we will probably have 6-8 beers a day and maybe a mixed drink or two a couple of times. Doesn't seem as though we will drink $100 worth of alcohol, but maybe? Other than that we mainly drink water....

Unfortunately, I can't comment on snorkeling. I do plan to start to snorkel this cruise along with my daughter. Not sure when you are going but we are cruising next month. I'll try to remember to report back.

We head out Sunday. If we go to Red Stripe, I'll report back on it!

Thanks, I'll definitely check out Red Stripe! Any idea if there is a snorkeling area? (son has gear)

Does anyone have a link or copy of a 2017 Teen Cruise compass for Liberty? I can't seem to find one online. We are on the Cozumel/GC/Jamaica cruise next week.
Thanks!

Bumping this up as I am also looking for a day pass in Falmouth with 12 year old son. He wants to play, we want to relax, eat decent food and have a beverage.

Everyone has awesome ideas! Keep them coming as I am sure I'm not the only one navigating these waters. ;)

^^^ just think about that for a sec - 10 years ago very few if any 12 year old (or adult for that matter) had a phone on a cruise - how did they get by?
True, but if the technology is there to make my life easier on the cruise, I am definitely taking advantage of it!

hahaha! our 12 year old son is the issue as well. I'm trying to decide if we're going to spend the money for Voom for all of us when we sail in November. I've read through several threads on this issue....and read many responses lecturing that we don't NEED technology and why can't we just tell our kids where to be and when. It's frustrating. I just want the ability to text them if/when they don't show up for a reservation or to get ready for dinner or whatever. I don't want to be running around a huge ship looking for them. I'm looking forward to being disconnected for a week..I have no interest in any of us having the ability to stream tv or play games or text friends back home. I just want to be able to text IF NEEDED. Of course I will tell them where/when they need to be somewhere, but they are not perfect...and they'll be distracted I'm sure enjoying themselves!
So, thank you for your post :)
I'll try to remember to come back and let you know how it goes...we leave in 9 days!

Just have some "meet up" times with the others in your party...it's not as hard to "keep up" as you are thinking it is. Tell each other your plans, and if they change, find someone and tell them your new plans!
That works if it is not one 12 year old boy that you are trying to keep up with!!

Voom is new since the last time we traveled. I am purchasing to keep up with our son on board. He has an iphone, husband and I have androids.
Does anyone know of a wifi messaging app that will work across both platforms?
-
Thanks all! Good tips and things to watch out for. Now if I can just figure out how to keep up with the 12 year old without any older siblings to help wrangle him!

We made a spur of the moment decision to get away. Booked yesterday for 3/26 sailing on Liberty! How much has changed in past few years? Do they still use the cards or have they gone to wristbands? What can we do for communication on board? This will be the first time we are taking just our youngest with us. He is 12 and will want some freedom to roam. I looked at the Royal IQ app, but it only looks like it is for certain ships.

Any recommendations on places to go and sample tequila? Would like good quality and possibly some food to go with it!
