  1. Your comments do not surprise me as we were on the Noro Death Ship from Barcelona and the same happened when we docked into Miami on the 2nd December. It was probably worse when we disembarked if it helps as most passengers were desparate to get off after 7 straight sea days with virtually no activities apart from needle work classes, bridge and scarf tie-ing lessons followed by 2 days(two days too many) in Nassu to scrub the ship before entering US waters. Oh yes we have written to O about our cruise experiance and guess what NO response and we did not even ask for compensation.

That's the O Life - they take your $$$$ listen to your comments mid way through the cruise and then they simply don't want to know once 50% of your trip has been completed as they had basically given up on us & focused on the next cruise.

This is a bit tongue in cheek I know but on a serious point I did write to Virgin because our Virgin Atlantic Flights were so superb. Got a response within 48 hours. It's very telling that many who contact Oceania do not get responses. The culture of companies is so important and no amount of self promotion (or delusion) can mask a customer service culture that is not succeeding.

  2. I am sure that you have all read my review for this particular cruise.

My question to Oceania and its fans is why do they get you to complete a final survey a day before you disembark and a month passes since you get home and you hear nothing.

Surely the most valuable passenger is a loyal one. I had traveled with O before and if I had not been on this cruise I would have probably booked another one. So it cost Oceania nothing to get my repeat booking but as they can not be bothered to answer some serious questions and react to my comments concerning my substandard vacation then sadly I will not be booking again. Where is the logic? I love the Oceania product including its food and the Oceania Suite but this poor attitude has left a seriously bad taste...........

  3. Hello

We were on Marina Oceania 2 years ago from Barcelona to Rio and had a ball. The food, the service and the fellow travelers were great and lots of G&L clients, the average age was560 plus however we are in our 40's and had a great time. We are doing another transatlantic next month for 14 nights again with O and cant wait. We have done Cunard several times but once you have done O you would not want to do Cunard!

    Best Wishes Grant:)

  4. Hello Ann135,

We are on this cruise too. Tell your other half not to pack any ties as its not needed for dinner. Ask your concierge to get you some more sepeciality restaurant reservations on the day we sail. Cartergena can be explored from the dock by foot you dont have to do excursions and the same for Madeira. The cookery lessons are great and splash out on at least one La Reserve if you like wine and food. When we did a transatlantic on Marina two years ago in November the crossing was very calm and the ship was very stable.

    See you onboard! Grant

  5. When we were on Marina 18 months ago we were very happy with the food and our suite was amazing. Surely if you are not happy with the food served you simply ask for something else or you let the staff aware that its not good enough.

We are still talking about the two nights that we had in La Reserve... it was that good and we loved Red Ginger so much that we went 5 times during an 18 night voyage (thanks to our Butler).

As for the alcohol prices they are reasonable and the prices charged are below what a five star hotel on land would charge and surely that's what a cruise ship really is....!

I would say that if you had spent more money and had a stunning suite and were not so picky about your lobster you would have probably enjoyed your vacation more.

Finally we are in our 40s and yes we were some of the youngest but I can honestly say that we met some amazing passengers who we still keep in touch and yes they are retired!.

  6. We had an OC Suite for 18 days and only used the Exec Lounge once. I am not too sure why you need it if you have a Butler and it only has a coffee machine and a few pastries which you can get from room service..... if this is your thing then enjoy. Oh yes and it is like a small box with no windows and very small so enjoy your suite instead I would suggest!: :(

  7. How does O's food compare to Cunard's Queen's or Princess' Grills?

We were on the last crossing of the QE2 to NYC a few years ago in a Queens Grill cabin andwe had the same cabin grade cabin on Queen Victoria a few years later followed by Marina 18 months ago and I can honestly say I would NEVER travel with Cunard again compared to Oceania. The speciality restaurants were stunning and compared to the Queens Grill no competition however we only went to the Main Dining room once on Marina and it was just ok - the same standard as the Grill on Cunard. Basically we love food and if you compare the food, the service and the cabins to Cunard O is 6 star and Cunard is a 4 plus!

  8. Hello,

We are docking at the Miami Cruise Terminal at 06.00 on December 2nd 2015 on Riviera and was wondering if we would have enough time to catch an internal flight from Fort Lauderdale Airport which departs at 10.26. I am not sure what time O allows you to disembark and how long it might take to clear customs as we are not US citizens? I was thinking it must be an hour by car to the airport too?

    You thoughts would be great.

    Thanks. Grant

  9. Hello,

Sorry to say I was on the fabulous Marina last year in a top suite and they dont have fresh milk even the butler could not get any (lack of refrigeration space I was told) and you can bring your own - hope you have a lot of ports!
