We did Wonder in a Crown Loft and loved going to the suite deck which was right down the hall from our suite...but 90% of the time we were lucky if there was 5 other people there.  Same for Costal Kitchen...very quite each night and also during happy hour at the bar.  We had the same experience on Symphony and Harmony with their respective suite area.

At the end of the day, as a Suite Guest, we have never been like "man I wish there was more to the suite areas!" Most of the time we are like "the people in the suite area are the bomb!! They take care of everything!"

In the times I've been Sky on Oasis class ships, the lounge area/suite bar has always been absolutely packed. I've not yet done Wonder so I can't say about the suite area, but on Allure/Harmony the 'suite deck' was barely used because it was lacking any reason to - there's just nothing there except probably a bored bartender. It's less about 'wow, I wish there were more suite areas' and more so a 'wow, I wish they'd actually do something of substance with their suite areas'. New footage from Icon is looking nice, but it's still no where near The Retreat or The Haven.

I just got back from a room in the Haven courtyard on the Joy and it absolutely blew my mind over any of my suite experiences on RCCL, and I paid less for that room than they're charging for Icon balcony rooms.

  2. I booked Sky Jr Suite for access to the suite area thinking this will be Royal's first decently done suite concept. The more footage I see the more disappointed I am. I'm really, really annoyed about Cloud 17. I was annoyed when it was announced we'd get no Solarium, but figured Cloud 17 had the potential to be a decent replacement. I have absolutely zero excitement for Hideaway. None. The child free area is now 10 decks above the children screaming in the surfside neighborhood? Fun. Awesome.

  3. Hey everyone! Saw posts for NCL Joy before and after our sailing. Anyone out there doing the Bermuda sailing next week? Last minute roll call, I know.

Four of us staying in the Haven, all gay, mid 30s. Would love to find people to drink with if anyone else is on.

Ok....so...what does this mean?  I'm not travelling out of Florida, and wont be, too confusing.  I will be leaving out of NJ.  I am vaccinated, I don't want to be around a lot of people who are not, and I'm leaving in Oct. 21.  I am ready to go.  What's going on in NJ?

This is my concern as well. I have a sailing on Oasis out of NJ 9/12/21. The first test sailing is the last week of August, so at this point there's no word on requirements or if the sailing will actually even happen.

It appears that there are heaters in the ceiling over the seating areas so that could make it more comfortable in cooler weather.  The ship was built with Alaska in mind so touches like that and heated pools were added.

I was unaware of this. It definitely makes sense. Here's hoping I actually get to enjoy the waterfront this time.

Thank you all for your constructive feedback!

  6. Hi everyone!

I’m sailing the Bliss on 3/1/2020 for the Florida & Bahamas itinerary soon and have a few questions. I did the exact same sailing 4 years ago or so on the Breakaway and overall had a so-so to not-so good time. I decided to give it another shot and we’ll see if its improved for me.

Hopefully someone who has sailed out of NYC recently can answer: are the waterfront & Spice h20 going to be in use? One of the things that sold me to NCL and the Breakaway class was the waterfront and outdoor areas but they were never in use. I get that we lose two days due to northern winter weather, but even in the Bahamas and Florida never once was a bar open on the waterfront. The marketing sold me on drinking or dining on the waterfront and it just was absolutely not an option on Breakaway. Has this been the case recently on Bliss out of NYC for 7 night sailings? Also, Spice h20 was only in use the night of the white hot party but no other time. During the day when I’d go back there the water feature was off and the bar was closed. Is this going to be the case on Bliss?

On the Breakaway the average age for the sailing was very, very high. Could this have contributed to why some of the outdoor areas were just closed or was it likely mostly related to the weather? This time I was hoping a March sailing would draw a slightly younger crowd and perhaps more outdoor areas would be in use.

Lastly, completely random but would a coffee with Baileys be covered in the beverage package at dinner? I feel like I saw somewhere that it wasn’t but I could totally be making that up.

  7. Obviously you have no experience with vaping. It is NOT smellable unless you add a scent like vanilla . I asked for experiences NOT judgements. I wish I could smoke it next to you...

As someone who has plenty of experience with vaping I can tell you they do in fact smell, regardless of what scent is inserted. It doesn't appear anyone is judging you simply letting you know that they do in fact smell it. Best of luck on your cruise vaping!

  8. I've been the organizer for my family cruise next week of about 12 people and I've been able to check in everyone except my aunt. When you go to fill out the cruiser information and you select their identification type, if you select Birth Certificate it should create a box that allows you to pick which state issued it, but it doesn't. It instead goes right to which ID you're using with it and the state for that. After you select next it gives you an error and tells you you need to select which state issued the Birth Cert; except you cant, because there is no box.

I thought it was a fluke and tried a few more times later but it's definitely broken. I contacted Royal and they said they're aware of the issue and keep trying and it should hopefully be fixed in time. It hasn't.

Its my aunts first cruise and I explained that it's no big deal she can check in at the pier when we get there, but she's panicking now. Is there a special process at the pier for those that don't have a set sail? I know they ask to see your Set Sail about every 15 feet you walk but she obviously wont have one. Has anyone experienced this and know how the process works when this happens? Thanks!

  9. I personally found that because Oasis has a massive top deck it's relatively easy to find spots to relax and view the ocean. If you wanted to relax inside somewhere and view the ocean you may not have as much luck - other than the boardwalk area I can't think of any spots that have sea views from inside.

  10. Premium went down a little but Select and Ultimate definitely went up a couple of dollars.

And like a couple of people posted here, they're getting different prices for different cruises.

Yea, the different prices for different cruises is interesting. The C&A Rep said that "different regions handle the packages differently sometimes, so a European one will be different than Bahamas" - As for how that explains different pricing for different ships in the same areas I have no idea.

  11. I spoke with Royal C&A and he advised that they changed the way it's presented to you, instead of being "XYZ per day = Total, then add 18%" it's now just "XYZ per day (including 18%) = Total"

The per day should go up but I don't think the overall prices have increased as some have even reported decreases in total amount even though it went from $49 to $57 per day for Premium, myself included.

  12. Depending on the particular cruise you're looking at, the price may actually have dropped. For the 10/31/2015 Oasis cruise, the Premium Package had been priced at $49 plus an 18% gratuity, or $57.82 total per day. It is now priced at $57 which includes the gratuity, so it is actually less now than it was before.

This was my case. My Sept 15' Liberty sailing dropped from $289.10 for the Premium to $285 even. $4 dollars less. I could be wrong but it seems like all they did was reprice them upfront to automatically factor in the gratuity cost instead of it being added onto the total at the end making it more transparent.
