  1. We took our then 13 year old son on his 2nd cruise two years ago. At dinner, we were seated at a large table with three other families that each had a child the same age as ours. The four of them made friends the first night and stuck together for the entire cruise. It was great! Our son is 15 now and still stays in touch with one of the other kids he met.

Before the cruise, he absolutely insisted that he did not want to sign up for "Camp". We signed him up anyway and gave him the choice of whether or not to go. Yep, he went.

  2. I take a couple of those huge ZipLock bags. I pack all of my items that might leak in my suitcase in them (hair spray, sunscreen, etc...) Then I use them to hold dirty laundry. It keeps me from losing anything and you can zip them to contain any odor. When it's time to go home, I squeeze the air out of the bags, zip them up, and pop them in the suitcase.

  3. My family and I are taking this cruise next month (25 days from now...yay!) to renew our vows for our 20th anniversary. I just have a few questions. Are there 2 formal nights, and also what to do in Ocho Rios. I'm not sure if Dunns Falls is for us, and I'm trying to find alternatives. Any help is appreciated.

I was on this cruise in October. DH and I did the Chukka Zip Line and Rafting tour. There were 3 zip lines, very short, good for first-timers. The raft tour was excellent. I would do this again. The water was very cold when we first got in but you get used to it quickly. The water was beautiful and no animal life in the water that we could see. Good for people afraid of fish! Our bus driver did stop at a little shopping center on the way back to the ship. We were there for about 45 minutes. We felt pretty safe and there wasn't a lot of pressure to buy, like at the Falls. However, the shopping center was within eyesight of the ship, probably a 10 minute walk if you didn't want to shop and are brave enough to walk the streets for a little while.

  4. We had a cabin 9264 on the Valor, (sister ship to the Liberty) and were kept awake all night with the kids coming and going. They were in groups and talked really loud. ALL NIGHT. Woke us from a sound sleep. We had 6260 on the Liberty and never heard a sound. Same location the only difference was the deck. The lido deck gets traffic 24 hours a day.

With Cabin 9292 they will be walking directly along your back wall and the entrance to the deck is right next to that cabin. It will be nice during the day but at night maybe not.

Even with the door facing the elevators I'd probably pick the Empress deck cabin. Or find another somewhere else.

There is a big difference in the location of 9264 and 9292. As I said previously, we were in 9293 on the Freedom last October. We were hesitant to book this cabin for fear of the noise. We got no noise from the Lido parties and couldn't even see the deck from our balcony. 9292 is in a seperate hallway, not the same hallway that the other passengers take from the elevators to the Lido deck. The only foot traffic we got was from the passengers in the other 3 cabins in this end of the hall and the stewards. It was very quiet. I would definitely book this cabin again if we were to cruise on this class of ship in the future.

  5. Which cabin would you prefer and why? The empress seems to be in the middle of everything but the lido cabin seems like it's just steps away from the lido deck.

DH and I stayed in 9293 on the Freedom. It was AWESOME!!! I would definitely stay in it again. You're only steps from the pool and the elevators. The passageway is private so, you don't get the general foot traffic. Do it!

  6. Did he talk about his family at all? I found myself wondering about his family and if he was supporting them etc. I hate that we didn't have more time to talk. He was always just so busy...damn drunks on my cruise! LOL

He spoke of his sister and her children. He's very close to them. But, he didn't say whether they were dependent on him. Although, he did say that he worked on the ship because there's very little opportunity for him to work in Serbia.

  7. "We went up to Lido to look around and watch sail away. It was there that I nearly knocked over my soon to be favorite server, Milan. I apologized 40987 times and he just smiled *swoon*. "

    Sweetcurves,

We were on this cruise the week before you. Milan was our bar waiter in the Chic DR. What a great guy! My husband and I really enjoyed getting to know him. His smile is definitely swoon-worthy! ;)
