I going to be at Amber Cove the week after Christmas. Not planning a tour. Just staying in the port area. In May my ship docked in La Romana(sp?). Not a great area. We went to an open air market in town. Trinkets and very poor people. I can see why Carnival has made their own docking area in Amber Cove.

I am going on two back to back cruises each with a Belize and Roatan stops. My travel partner just had major heart surgery and cannot snorkel this trip. We are looking for a nice resort or beach place to go and relax. A pool and lunch would be very nice. I would still like to snorkel off shore if possible. We always go to Maya Chan in Costa Maya. All suggestions are very welcome!

My girlfriend and I will be on the Jewel at the end of January. Loved your comments. I was on the Epic last month and had a good time. I have decided that I like the somewhat smaller ships. Fewer people=better time. Just my opinion. Was on the Spirit last year and two other NCL ships (don't remember names) prior to that. I have been on all the major lines except Disney and have decided I prefer NCL and Carnival. I am 70 years old and yes I prefer the more active ships. Would love to try the Haven but that would severely limit my ability to cruise frequently. I loved the Spirit and I think, according to your comments, I will love the Jewel! Thank you!

Twice while in Cozumel I took a snorkel trip with a tour agency. It was very good but I can not locate the information. We met the tour after taking a taxi to a beach front bar downtown. The bar was white and open-air. Below was a restaurant and practice scuba area. We went to two snorkel areas on a catamaran. Can anyone give me info? Thanks!

We were able to get in a separate (quicker line) to board the Spirit. Do you know if this is common for NCL.
