Jewel does not take over all cruises from Adventure, departure on August 31 from Copenhagen is just cancelled and no rebooking options offered...

I had two Ultra Spacious (Family) Ocean View rooms booked with 8 people for my mom's 65th birthday. Definitely disappointed that there are no rebooking options, just $100 OBC if we "rebook an alternate European itinerary departing in 2021 by October 31st, 2020."

  2. Fall transatlantic in 2013. 14-night Barcelona to Galveston in a D2 balcony for $620 per person. Came to $44 per night per person. And that was the last good deal for me on Royal!

We had a similar deal on Serenade 15-night from Barcelona to New Orleans in November 2013. When we first booked in June 2012 it was $1159 per person, ended up paying $559 per adult in an E1 with a huge (hump) balcony! I think kids were $299.

Our next transatlantic on Brilliance was $1219 per adult in a family oceanview, but the kids were free so it was an OK deal.

Really happy with the deal on our next cruise too. When we booked last month it was $613pp, now its down to $403 on Empress for a 4-night with an overnight in Havana. Not the lowest price per night, but I'm happy with it for the itinerary.

  3. We did a 15-night transatlantic on Serenade with a 13 month old. She had a great time. There were only a couple kids her age, but they had scheduled free classes in the nursery, and you could borrow toys to take back to your cabin. They offer in-room or in-nursery babysitting.

She couldn't use the pool, but we took an inflatable baby bathtub to use as a splash pool on our balcony. I'd go for at least an ocean view, she liked looking outside. A bigger room gives more space for a pack-n-play, and more space to toddle around.

She had a good time, made friends with the staff, ate in the main dining room every night. She loved the towel animals. We took a stroller, but didn't use it much on the ship.

She was teething on our port day in Tenerife, but that was the only day she was fussy or anything. We stopped for lunch and she had some gnocchi, and the waitress gave her some hard cookies and she was better. She didn't like wearing a fancy dress on formal night, but we had another outfit ready and just changed her.

For us the key has been letting the kids' needs dictate the schedule. If it's nap time, let them nap. If you work on their schedule, they'll be fine. Other people may think a trip like that with a toddler wouldn't be fun, but that depends on what your expectations are. Don't expect a vacation from parenting a toddler, but there's a lot of fun things you can all do together.

  4. I booked a July 4th cruise on Tuesday. When I saw the weekend sale prices for they sailing today, I called my agent, who called RC. First RC said they couldn't do anything, because the weekend sale rates are for new bookings only, check back Monday and see if the prices are still lower.

When I asked again, specifically if I could upgrade from our $329/person inside guarantee to a $589/person junior suite, my agent said he would check. Came back and said RC was checking with a supervisor, then said yes.

Of course, it took 3 more calls to get the room I wanted because the room showed available but wouldn't let them save (probably my fault for having it selected on a fake booking while I was on hold), then when the room was released my reservation was locked...

Edit to add: I didn't ask about the $50 WOW sale OBC, and I assume I'm not getting it. If I do, it will be a happy surprise. But, my agent upped my OBC through them for the higher category, helping offset the price a bit.

  5. We're staying in the Garden District at the Prytania Park Hotel. Great rates, about a minute walk to catch the street car, and only 15 blocks to the French Quarter! Saw this place recommended here on Cruise Critic.

Great little hotel. Not exactly modern, but nice. Even though I live here in N.O., I've stayed there a few times, including my wedding weekend.

  6.

I guess there are some devices though that can charge from USB ports. Just nothing I own. Oh well.

Just about every cell phone made in the last couple years can charge off USB. It's actually been required by law in Europe since 2011. In the U.S. it was a voluntary agreement among all the carriers and manufacturers.

  7. You need to call them. It sounds like they booked you in one of the rooms only. You need 3 invoices for all 3 rooms.

So, I called. The PVP and her supervisor were really confused about how the booking was even allowed to be created. They had me in just the D2, but at suite prices... To change to an FJ would result in a higher price now. The PVP said she thought some sort of resolution would be justified to rectify the mistake, but the resolutions department wasn't convinced. They said my options are to pay more for a JS, downgrade my reservation to a D-category, or cancel.

Not really impressed with their handling of a problem their system created.

  8. So are all four in the D2? It’s very iffy as it looks. If you can finalize the booking go ahead and if it’s not want you want you can cancel/change it.

    On the website it says the below;

    NOT AVAILABLE FOR ONLINE BOOKING

    CALL FOR AVAILABILITY

    (866) 562-7625

    Again, gook luck.

Thanks, Tall-Cruiser. I went ahead and finalized the booking. This is what my invoice looks like:

  9. Are you just booking the one cabin or all three? What sailing is this for? If you are happy with the price finalize the booking if you can before they change thier mind on you.

It's for the 3/21/15 8-night Eastern Caribbean. What I want is the block of all three rooms. I'm just not sure if they actually have me booked in all three, or if they have me booked in just the D2 (since that's the room number that shows on my invoice next to the FC code), but at JS prices due to a code mixup. And I'm not confident they know either, lol.

  10. Sometimes a JS is sold by itself and sometimes it is sold as an FC along with the other 2 rooms.

We'll see what happens with my reservation. I made the deposit on the held booking, then called to add a 4th person. Verified with the person on the phone that my cabin is an FC, Family Connected Junior Suite. Asked them to send me an invoice, first two guests are $1,687. Guests 3&4 are $789. Still shows the cabin number as the D2 room, not the JS or some other number to indicate the block of rooms.

  11. I was already confused, and now this thread has me even more confused. I just put a 24-hour hold on the March 21st sailing... It says the category is FC, Family Connected Junior Suite, which I thought would be just the junior suite, not the other rooms since the reservation is only for 3 people. But the room number is 12228, which is the D2 balcony according to the deck plan. So is this reservation for the whole set of three rooms?

  12. We headed up Esplanade Ave. and turned right on N. Rampart St. which turns into St. Claude Ave. We followed along St. Claude, drove through the Upper Ninth Ward, crossed over the Industrial Canal, and proceeded to the intersection of St. Claude & Angela Street. This placed us in roughly the center of the Louisiana National Guard complex. We turned left on Angela and left again on Claiborne Ave.

This is one of several brand new National Guard buildings that were constructed after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

I work in that building on my drill weekends. Awesome review, glad you had such a wonderful time in N.O.
