Just got back home from the 2 day from Hamburg, I can only compare this ship to the Epic. The Escape is fantastic so well laid out, different bars with different ambiance we had a lot of fun and now slightly exhausted!!
I don't have many photos but can answer questions if I can.
We were in 9320 which is an aft facing balcony. We were sharing it with my 70 year old mum so had it set up as twins and the sofa being made up each night. Mum is in a wheelchair however her goal seemed to get us to whiz her round the ship to see as much as possible.

Anyone have pics of an aft facing balcony? I have one booked for the end of next month and can't wait!

Absolutely and I would have no problem moving if someone needs it. I just would want a cabin of equal or higher level like you said. Thanks guys for the info.

Really? Ughh now I have no idea what to do.

We are in 11/28 sailing and have a B1. These are the best balconies on the ship unless you are in the Haven. I also, have sailed on Getaway with a B6 which IMHO the second best balcony!!!
We are on the same sailing and I ended up getting the b1 balcony. I called my PCC with Norwegian to book and the only available b1 was one of the accessible rooms so we took it. Anyone have experience with one of these rooms.
-
Alright guys/gals I need some advice for staterooms for the Novemeber 29th sailing. I am thinking either a b1 or b6 balcony. Price is about the same like $80 difference. The B1 AFT is just a guarantee stateroom it doesn't actually let me pick the individual room. Anyone have experience with this? I just don't want to get stuck with a crappy room that has no loungers on it for an aft balcony. Or am i crazy and should i just book a regular balcony room? Any advice is greatly appreciated guys and gals.
Thanks

Super excited about this ship! Just booked for the November 29th sailing and cannot wait! Went on the breakaway when it first came out, it will be nice to do the same with this ship :D
Fantastic thread so far will make sure to keep looking at updates.

Hello Gambee I have a question for you. Do you by any chance have images of the Atlantic & Pacific Conference Rooms?
-
No, I still think the Allure has the edge Over the Breakaway. The Allure holds a tittle that is very difficult to compete against. The fact that Breakaway got so close, should say a lot about that ship.
But overall the Allure is simply the Allure.
Fair enough Thank You Kind Sir :D

Sounds like NCL and the BREAKAWAY will be a great choice for you! There is no reason one ship/line has to be better than the other. Each can be enjoyed equally for different reasons. One thing I have discovered after almost 100 cruises on just about every line is that no one ship or one cruise line is going to be perfect. They each have something to offer but they all have room for improvement as well. I try to rate each experience on its own merits and not compare all the time (yes this can be difficult!). Loyalists to one line often seem obsessed with "their" line coming out ahead and being the best. To me this is a huge waste of time. Enjoy them all for what they offer and realize no one ship is going to be the end-all-be-all of cruising. Variety is the spice of life!
I think BREAKAWAY looks awesome, but hardly perfect. I'm not sure I will get a chance to sail on her, but the inaugural cruise on GETAWAY from Southampton to Miami is in the works. I can't wait to experience this amazing new class of ship!
Ernie
Absolutely as long as all goes well on Breakaway, Getaway will be in the works for next year as well :D No cruise is every going to be perfect because each line has something that they specifically bring to the table that is better then their competition and also things they are not as good at. Gambee has pointed this out to us clearly in his conclusion.

Hey Gambee quick question for you. Do you think the poor customer service you received is the only reason the ship came in second for you? Or do you think the allure still would have edged out the breakaway?
-
Thank you for that! The DISNEY DREAM is truly a dream, and it's hard to top Disney Cruise Line for a large-ship cruise line. They are expensive, but worth every penny. The quality and attention to detail are second to none.
Ernie
I have been on the Dream as well. I really enjoyed the ship it was very beautiful and did have touches that only disney pays attention too. Disney's private island was my favorite part of the vacation. I enjoyed having the same server every night as well. Just like everything else there are pros and cons. I didn't like the bars as much on the dream and i also felt that the entertainment was very good, but being a disney boat has to keep children engaged. I am very excited to go on breakaway i really enjoyed my last cruise with NCL and the breakaway sure looks to be a beautiful ship i cannot wait to step foot on her. I like the option to choose where and what i want to eat on NCL rather than going wherever they tell me to go. I like having specialty restaurants that offer more options as well. Would i go on the Dream or Fantasy again? In a heartbeat, but do I think I like them better than breakaway? Only time will tell. Maybe that will be my Cruise Review when i return from vacation i will compare the Breakaway to the Dream. Only if people are interested in hearing that of course

Those were some serious waves!!!!!!!! I'm sure she was a rockin and a rollin lol

Gambee just wanted to say once again that this has been so awesome to come home from work and read everyday! Your amazing pictures of the ship have gotten everyone in my party of 18 going on Breakaway July 21st extremely excited for vacation. Thank you for all of your hard work a lot of your pictures and comments have altered my planning process so thanks for paying so much attention to detail.
-
I will get into that soon, I think in the next set. I just have to write about it. overall they are nice, but not a repeat kind of thing.
Oh okay sorry i'll shut up and wait patiently from now on :) lol
-
Just curious, how much were three day travel passes?
When I went last year it was $28
-
sorry for the 6 thousand questions Gambee lol. But how did you like the caves? that is something we are considering this time around in Bermuda.
-
Very first ones around 6:30-7am
The docked ones at 8:30?
Thank You! I am going to try and wake up in time to see the boat come in like you did, I appreciate it. Must have been a pretty cool site to see.
-
Hey Gambee what time were you up to catch those awesome pictures of the ship entering Bermuda?
-
Thanks for the Advice on Teppanaki! Just out of curiosity how many people fit at one of those larger hibachi tables? We have a total of 18 people cruising with us. But i'm curious how we could split the party up.
-
Been up since 8am working on it, please be patient. I will post once I have more, I cant believe how much more there is to write when compared to the Silli review.
I suppose i can be patient lol. Can't wait for this next part!

No, i bought two bottles of vodka and I had some wine from my Cruise consultant and Shaun. Keep in mind that everyone in the room has to buy the package.
I decided i am not going to do the UBP mainly because when we went to Bermuda last year on the Star I was NEVER on the boat except to eat breakfast and dinner while docked. So that is 3 full days that i will not be on the boat to put the UBP to use.

I loved the escape. Had an aft facing on deck 13 and def had a little bit of soot each morning. Overall a great cruise we had 4 people and the longest we ever had to wait to be seated was 5 minutes. Only one day of poor service in one of the MDRs rest of the time it was great. Boat definitely feels rougher under rough sees than all the other ships I have been on. That is my only complaint. Had an awesome time!
