  1. Not sure if it counts the same but I got upgraded on the second week of a B2B on the Adventure last year. First week I had a Promenade cabin on deck 7. Second week I had booked a Oceanview at the front of deck 9. The last night of the first cruise I got a call that they had changed my cabin for the second week. Ended up with a Balcony on deck 7 just down the hall from my first cabin. Made the second week of my cruise even better. Spent every sail away with friends on the balcony drinking wine and enjoying the views.

  2. I just returned from the Freedom of the Sea cruise. Had a promenade room on deck 8 above the Bull and Bear pub. Never had a noise issue even with the music going on late into the night. I had friends on deck 6 and never heard them complain of noise from the promenade. I did not find the room small with the beds together but I believe if they are separated it would take up more space. Otherwise loved the cabin and would book one again when I get a chance.

  3. I stayed in 7592 on the opposite side. The balcony had a lounger and table and two chairs. I enjoyed the larger balcony. It is true you can't look straight down because of the lifeboat covers. But that didn't bother me since I was looking outward at the ocean. I didn't have a noise issue with 7592. I never heard the music very loud. In fact I missed one show because I slept through it. That may have been because on that side of the ship there is a wall between the hall and Centrum. Looks like 7092 dose not have that which may account for more noise on that side. I was happy with the location and would book it again. I am sailing the BOS next year but was able to score and Aft corner on deck 9 with a big balcony, otherwise I would have tried for 7092 or 7592 for the larger balcony.

  4. Anybody going on this cruise? I lost my girlfriend who was going and now faced with going solo or cancel (I would lose 25% ). I cruised solo by choice last November, and had always said after that I wouldn't go solo again, I am quite introverted.

Bob check out the roll call for your cruise. Introduce yourself online and get to know some of the people before hand. I am pretty introverted myself but found the rollcalls and the sail away parties at the beginning of the cruise a great way to meet people and get out of my comfort zone. I actually find it easier to talk to people on a cruise. You already have something in common cruising.

  5. I did a search on the board but can't seem to find an answer to my question. Is the drink package available on the 3 night cruise? I am booked on the Majesty of the Sea for May. They are offering it online under the precruise planner for my trip. But everything I read about it says 4 nights or longer. Just wondering if anyone has done a 3 nighter and gotten the package? Worst case I just wait till I board and see if they are offering it. I have bought the package on a 7 night cruise and liked it.

  6. Would anyone mind offering some tips on how to find/book last-minute deals? I'm going on only my second cruise next week but am also freelancing atm and in a position to take impromptu trips. That said, when I go to cruise line websites for pricing I feel a bit lost as to where to look for these deals y'all keep talking about :) Are they available online, or is calling the best option? Are there certain phrases that each cruise line uses for their last minute bookings? How common are such bookings at ports like Galveston and NOLA?

    Thanks!

Woollife, I am sure there are other ways to find them but I found my last solo by doing a online search for "single supplement " Some cruise lines post a list of cruises that they don't charge the supplement on. Other than that I just keep checking cruise line sites for any deals they are offering.

  7. well, i am getting nervous! Decided only yesterday to book my first ever solo cruise, booked Friday, sail on Sunday, and i live in Canada. The agent guaranteed me my flight, as it was impossible to get one from this island so short notice without paying a fortune.

I wake this morning knowing i have to pack today and likely be at the airport by 4am only problem is, my flight status still says pending

i called carnival and they explained they are showing no flight yet ( gulp, i will be in the air in less than 24 hours) but to call back when travel opens. Again, i booked only a day ago but she guaranteed the flight was available, in fact apparently they block out flights for the fly aweigh, and once gone gone. I tried to fly to miami, but no flights available, so am cruising out of Ft Lauderdale on different cruise but thats fine

will be my first solo, so im quite excited and nervous at the same time.

i find myself saying ok anytime and i can have me time, dine alone all that stuff, then i change to early seating saying ok carnival will put all us solo cruisers together and i will meet people quickly, then im thinking ok carnival doesnt have time to do that for me, considering i just booked ugh

think im changing back to early dining, at least i will be at same table and can always change IF i want, what to do...

anyway, guess i should start packing and i will get my flight info some time today haha

Hope they find you a flight and you have a great time on your cruise. Come back and let us know how it went. :D

  8. I booked 11 days out on the Fantasy out of Charleston. Did it in Feb when we kept getting snow storm after snow storm. Needed a quick tropical getaway. This was my first true solo cruise. I knew nobody till boarding the ship. I have cruised as a solo within a group of people in the past.

I really enjoyed the freedom this time. Have a great trip and come back and let us know how it went.

  9. I haven't been on a ship with the Alchemy Bar yet (coming this summer:D), but they have the spicy chipotle martini on the menu and I've had that several times, both as part of the martini sampler and on its own - and it's really good. It does give you crazy dreams, though.:p

I had the spicy chipotle pineapple martini at the Alchemy bar on the

Glory. They are great. I also liked the Perfect Storm. A rum martini with cinnamon on top. I don't usually drink rum but that was my favorite.

  10. I was wondering this myself. I sailed on the Glory and it had an Alchemy bar. My favorite place on the ship. I really enjoyed the Chipolte Pineapple martini and the Perfect Storm martini. Sailing on the Fantasy now in a few days and they don't have the Alchemy bar. Guess I will find out in a few days.

  11. Jamman , thanks for the review. I am leaving in a few days on the Fantasy. A last minute getaway. I was glad to see a picture of the pool bar. I haven't been able to find any till I saw yours.

I had to laugh when reading your review and you mentioned your M&G was going to be at the port side pool bar. We have a small roll call also I am suggested a M&G at the same pool bar. Looks like it will be the perfect place.

Looking forward to the rest of your review.

  12. I just booked a last minute cruise on the Carnival Fantasy for the end of Feb. 11 days and I will be enjoying sail away. Looking forward to getting away from the cold and also my job. My first solo cruise was a CTN(cruise to nowhere) for 2 days. Left on Friday back on Sunday. I really enjoyed the freedom of it. Now I am doing a 5 day.

I am usually kind of shy but I find cruise ships an easy place to meet people. Everyone is there for the same reason to relax and have fun. :D

I have made some great new friends on my past cruises. Looking forward to making more on this one.

  13. I just booked a 5 day cruise out of Charleston SC on the Fantasy for the 26th. I took the Pack and Go package where they pick my cabin for me. Never done this before. If I understand it correctly they don't assign those till checkin. Do I bother printing out luggage tags or not? Anyone got any information on this for me? Thanks ahead of time for the help.:D
