Pool area wasn't the greatest... maybe because it was cold and they knew no one would be there?

We were in Nassau on January 18 and we went to Balmoral Island through Carnival. It was actually $80 cheaper once we got on board so make sure you look at that.
We loved it. I was worried that it wouldn't be good because of the reviews I had seen. Of course I am sure Blue Lagoon would have been better just because it looks amazing. Prices at Balmoral Island were high. A chicken tender basket and fries was $15. It was enough for my 9 year old twins to share and have enough to eat though. A 20 oz coke was $5. The picture disc was $75 but they give you tons of pictures.
We had a group of 8 that went and they took us all together. When you arrive, you sign a waiver. Then you go and put on life jackets in the building. They aren't in the best shape at all and most are torn. After the do's and don'ts lesson they lead you out to a lagoon type area and there are 4 or 5 dolphins in there between the groups. Our dolphin was Margarita and our "guide" was Bryan. They were great and we really enjoyed it. The water was FREEZING though. The kids had a great time at the beach and found some shells and saw some fish. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will.
I really think it is what you make of it. It isn't 5 stars or anything but based on what we paid for the excursion, I was happy with it.

Awesome! Thanks so much for your quick replies!

I am trying to decide how much I need in small bills for tips, etc...If I run out of small bills can Guest Services make change for $100?

Hi Brandy,
I have put you on my calendar. Could you please clarify where you will be... Sports deck or balcony? If on the sports deck - aft or forward? If on the balcony, let me know the cabin number or vicinity so I can zoom in, if you want. I can only zoom in on the starboard side, as the ship is too far away when we can see port side.
Enjoy the final countdown to your cruise! :)
Let's just say that we will be at the waterworks. I will stand on the starboard side! He has the Penthouse and I'm not sure you can see the balcony. I think it looks over the Lido deck, maybe?
Thank you so much! I'm hoping there is no rain on Saturday!

APDMOM-We will be on the Fascination on Saturday. Could you take a picture for us? :)
We will be on the sports deck. Our friends were upgraded to the PH so we will be on their balcony.
Thanks so much,
Brandy

Thanks All!
We did purchase FTTF and my TA called and spoke to Carnival. They wouldn't allow her to reserve a fridge prior to boarding and like another posted, we would have to go directly to Guest Services to request one. I feel bad about using one since there is a limited number and there are others that obviously need their LIFE saving medication cold.
The dentist said it can be kept in ice so that is what we will do. If this does prove to be a problem I will just take it to the medical center or guest services.
thomarvin- Most antibiotics in that dosage are very large and I know there is no way she could swallow it.

You can also store it at guest services, they have a proper fridge for medications not just a cooler that you find in the cabins.
Really? I had no idea. I guess that would be safe. Surely no one will tamper with it. I just hate for Special Needs to make special arrangements for something that only has to be taken 2x day.
-
We are on the Fascination so no mini-fridges.
-
My daughter chipped her tooth this weekend. I took her to the dentist who gave her an antibiotic that has to be refrigerated. What can I do while onboard? Do you think it would be ok to be kept in a cooler bag with ice? I don't think this is something that warrants a special needs request for a fridge.

please take ear plugs--very noisy early am when they start dragging chairs and the joggers start pounding the deck
I figured it would be one of the noisier rooms on the ship with the Lido deck being directly below it.
You need an escort in order to find it!I wondered if you had to have a "special key" to access it. LOL!

We're sailing on the Fascination on the 30th and we also offered the upsell. Just FYI-to upgrade from a basic balcony it was approximately +350/night for a total of +$1750 for the upgrade.
We will be leaving on Saturday. I really hope to do a review so maybe I can post some pictures of the actual room he is in. Enjoy your trip! I'm hoping for calm seas and sunny weather, but it isn't looking good! :(

ME! 8 days and still so much to do!

Sounds like a wonderful itinerary!

We have decided to book Balmoral Island through Carnival. I'm not going to lie...I am nervous about it. We were going to book Blue Lagoon, but the fear of missing the ship and the price had us choose Balmoral Island instead. They have dolphins and sting rays...no sea lions though.
-
We went to Junkanoo Beach last April. It was only ok. I wouldn't do it again.

The Fascination doesn't have the Penthouse Owners Suites, they only have Grand Suites and I also would like to know the category your friend originally booked, I would have to say high category balcony?
The email and the YouTube videos I have seen say that you are incorrect.
-
He was upgraded from a Suite, not sure which type though. To my understanding only the Fantasy class ships have these types of rooms. I have seen pictures from the email carnival sent with his confirmation. According to the email it's 916 sq ft. It's not an option you can purchase but must be offered.
I will post pics when we get back. I hope to do a review.

We are cruising with 3 other families on the Fascination, leaving on the 16th. None have ever cruise before. They called my friend and offered him the Penthouse Owners Suite! I can't wait to see it! He didn't tell me how I have it cost him though!

I would have to say the KIDS! Leaving home without them would probably put a damper on their cruise!
:D You are right...although, they seem to be a little nervous about the whole thing. They've seen Titanic too many times.
-
I hadn't even thought about doing laundry! How much should I expect to bring in quarters for the washer/dryer??
-
This is only our second cruise and the first with our twin daughters. They are 9. I feel like I should be prepared for anything, but right now we have 4 suitcases and 4 carry-ons, plus backpacks!
What are somethings I can leave at home and somethings I just HAVE to take?

No to the lockers... They are more like cubbies. So no lock or door. I just stuffed everything down in the very bottom of our bag and hoped for the best. I wasn't concerned though. There is no one in the building after you leave and an attendant stands at the door.
