  1. I just checked my upcoming cruise's "Cruise Planner", and I can confirm it's no longer listed as an option.

Glad to hear this, it wasn't their style to have something run like that. I sent in a review directly to the excursions folk at Royal and I am still communicating with them, I think they are truly trying to make things better.

  2. Wildberry???? I've only tried mango and it's my fav!! Something new to try!!

Can any other NYC pizza snob (yes, it's the best!!) comment on how they find Sorrentos? I know it's not going to be the best ever, but is it passable?

YES :D I found myself there often, don't expect NYC pizza! It is tasty but no where's near our pizza! It makes for a good in between snack though!

  3. Same here, we paid $30pp. through our ship too.

When we arrived there wasn't anything more than an ipad propped on a stand, I guess that was supposed to be a DJ, a folding table with a few young men that appeared to be a tad tipsy handing out watered down rum swizzles, used metal skewars, marshmellows, pieces of chocolate & some crackers for smores. Nothing was sanitized, no gloves were worn, no food was available for purchase, the bonfire was a small fire pit and there wasn't anything to do. It wasn't even a nice location to watch the sunset!

There wasn't any historical walking tour on the way there, everyone was standing around bored, we asked if there was any entertainment or DJ or anything to do and they just looked, laughed and said no.

We ended up leaving, so sad we wasted a beautiful night on such a beautiful island. If I ever get the chance to go back, I would never visit Snorkel Park again. :(:(:(

  4. We were also on deck 2 in June on Liberty and we did have an odor for first couple of days but then it was ok. I've sailed on 2 other RCCL ships, same deck and didn't have any odor so I'm not sure what the issue was but there are several posts on CC regarding odors from different decks on different ships. We didn't have ideal weather (high winds, high swells) for the first 2 days, they closed all the upper decks, doors blocked to outside for 48 hours...maybe that had something to do with it? I don't really know.

We chose the deck 2 midship because we have friends and family that get motion sickness and this is the best location for them. We didn't consider the location "cheap" it was a standard outside cabin, our steward was wonderful & kept our room very clean.

Our dinner time was 5:30, we didn't rush and made every show afterwards.

Windjammer is a buffet, we didn't think it was horrible, just nothing more than a large cafeteria. We went to the dining room for breakfast, windjammer for salad lunches and it was fine. Then again, we didn't cruise for the food nor were we expecting 5 star quality.

RCCL did compensate us 50% per person for the Bonfire at Snorkel Park excursion that was just awful, and I believe they actually cancelled it for future cruisers. We received a credit on our account prior to disembarking without a problem. People at Guest Relations weren't what I would call rude but I wouldn't consider them overly friendly either but at the end of the day, they got the job done.

We may try another cruise line in the future just for something different, but will sail Royal again.

Hope you have a nice time & good weather! Happy Sailing!

  5. Hello, has anyone from liberty of the seas recently did the bonfire at snorkel beach? If so please share some details? About what time did it start, how long, how much $$$$, was it worth it. Etc. any info is appreciated. Tia.

We did it. Honestly I would tell you, don't bother. If they discontinued this excursion it would be a smart thing for Royal to do. We ended up getting 50% refund from Guest Services after we returned from this "excursion". It was awful. Make sure you visit Horseshoe Bay Beach if you don't have that in your plans. Also heard Tobacco Bay Beach now offers alot but it is quite small there, or look up Elbow Beach. Much nicer locations and worth spending time there. Snorkel Park not so much IMHO. Hope that helps. Happy Sailing!

  6. Have done this a few times. When you board and the photo studio opens, go to the manager and let him/her know. They will link the staterooms and give you the same folio. It is a great deal- We are sailing on the Quantum and they do not offer this package on this ship.

Same for us? Husband & I in one cabin, daughters 22 & 18 in another cabin. If we get the CD unlimited package will all their photos be able to be added to our package?

If the 22 year old takes photos with her 22 year old cousin from another cabin will that photo be able to be added? Same question for the 18 year old?

All our cabins are linked for dinner, etc.

  7. Keep in mind you'll only have about an hour in the water. Where they go we found to have very few fish and even less coral. Church Bay offered some excellent snorkeling along with a nice little beach.

True, but we loved the ride to the cove we felt it was plenty of time in the water, it was wonderful! We didn't see that many fish either actually but we had a blast trying to paddle board, kayak & explore the caves.

They gave us a nice tour around the island and the boat was huge!

They did email me back for anyone interested.

They don't have any excurusions directly thru Royal Caribbean at this time. (There is a booth where you can book with them directly in Dockyard)

They recommend waiting until closer to your time of arrival as there is always the possibility that they may be offering excursions through your cruise ship by that time.

  8. Do you remember what the name of your tour was? Royal Caribbean does not tell which tour operators/boat names they use in their descriptions

    Thanks much!

    Donna

Found it on RC page under Shore Excursions

Ultimate Catamaran Swim, Sail & Snorkel - BK18

Board the Rising Son II Catamaran for a day of fun and variety. Snorkel, Kayak, Paddleboard, swim or just lounge. One complimentary beverage included and a cash bar is available during your return cruise. Participants must be competent swimmers. :)

  9. I don't know if you are open to sailing but we left dockyard on a Catamaran Snorkel & Swim tour and it was fantastic! We (group of various ages 16-50) sailed on a huge, very stable boat had a tour guide talking about the island and cracking jokes the whole time, we got to a beautiful cove where they played some music, allowed us to jump off the boat if we wished to, they had a paddle board, noodles, kayaks, we brought our own snorkel gear but they had some I think. (the boat had a bathroom, snacks, etc) We did this on the short day in Bermuda, the whole trip was 3hrs and they served some Rum Swizzles on the return trip! Yum! :)

  10. I don't remember times but we had 6pm dinner each night and managed to make each show and fun thing without a hitch! They did change the ice skating show times, they assigned it to you instead of waiting for tickets. If you care to change your time just get there early snd they will do their best to get you in! Have fun! I wish I was back on board! Great ship and crew!

  11. Hello CC friends!

Question for recent cruisers on EOS. What time would you arrange for a group to be picked up at the port that morning?

We will not be carrying off our own luggage - if that helps. I have requested a 10am pick-up but after reading a few reviews, I am thinking that would be too early. Your thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

So glad you asked that, I was wondering the same thing! Hopefully someone chimes in!

  12. This is wonderful to hear! We have a party of 12 and our TA told us there was no way we could all sit together. We were hoping to request tables right next to each other. Did they sit you all at one table?

I was on Adventure with a party of 14, we had a table all together, no problem at all, we were on a lower level, close to the kitchen but we had so much attention & assistance from everyone that was running back and forth it actually made our nights alot of fun!

  13. May I suggest that anyone try the Bank of America Royal Caribbean Visa.

I have had it for a couple of years. I went on EOS in January & didn't have to spend a penny out of pocket because of on board credit from the points I earned using my Visa.

I will probably go on Quantum in 2014. I should have a good amount of points built up again by then for on board credit. Nothing like free on board credit!

Agreed there! We have earned a nice amount of OBC and we just used it to pay off our cruise! (double points for Royal purchases & caught a promotion a few months back! :D)

I would love to see what the Quantum is all about but our family cannot do a 12 nighter just yet maybe we will have to go back to Bermuda on a shorter cruise again! (twist my arm! ;))

  14. No dates but here are projected Quantum Itineraries.

12 Night--Labadee, San Juan, St. Maarten, St Kitts, Marrinique, Barbados, looks like six sea day's.

11 Night--Labadee, St. Thomas, San Juan, St. Maarten, St Kitts, Looks like six sea day's.

8 Night (Ugh) Labadee, San Juan, Samana DR

7/8 Night-- Port Canaveral, Cococay, Nassau

Lots of sea day's to spend ($$$) on ship.

It will not be cheap to cruise on the Quantum

There will be some 5 night Bermuda and 9 night Carb.

Oh wow, six sea days may be a little much for me! Thanks for the heads up, may need to re-think sailing Quantum...

  15. Made my final payment last night! :)

The rep at Royal expressed his enthusiasm for Quantum, saying she will be sailing some new itineraries/different than the normal Caribbean ports that Explorer sailed.

I am curious to see what the promenade will look like,

I really hope they don't do away with it, I will miss it very much!

He also said there could be some 8 night sailings added.

Sounds exciting, hopefully the prices aren't too high!

  16. Let's see if someone from Long Island posts. My area of expertise is driving from NE to Cape Liberty and I know that Google and Mapquest always try to send folks down I95 instead of on the cars only parkway route through Westchester County. I95 is horrible through NYC and none of my Westchester County relatives would ever choose that route to go to the GW Bridge.

But that doesn't help you. If you have a favorite route to Manhattan then you can cut across to one of the tunnels or the GW Bridge and take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 14A.

    Thanks so much!

  17. Where are you coming from on Long Island? It's a Saturday, right?

I'm not a big Long Island expert, but I know folks either come through the city and take the Holland Tunnel or they pony up for the Verrazano Bridge and come via Staten Island. I'll let others comment on the current status of construction projects that could affect your trip.

We are in Nassau County, I'm thinking Verrazano. Just reading different posts that people suggest going a certain way, the directions from online & GPS aren't as direct?
