posted taxi rate is $30 one way for 1-5 people from Amber Cove to teleferico (cable car)

 

We stopped there as part of our tour of the Puerto Plata area, arranged at the taxi stand at the port. That price was negotiable so you might get a better rate than what is posted.

I believe the cost for the cable car was about $8 pp round trip.

Upon reading your reply Am I to understand you went to the cable car yourself, not on a tour. How long is the trip from Amber Cove to teleferico? How long is the cable car ride? Thanks in advance.

Looking at doing the excursion Lifestyle VIP Resort. Has no reviews on the HAL website. Looking for anyone who has been on the excursion for some input.

We've done this excursion twice. The boat is small - if there is a head it's probably located below the deck. Gibbs Cay is a tiny rocky outcrop with nothing but sand and seagrass. There are no facilities at all.

 

If a washroom is something you must have this is probably not the excursion for you.

I am interested in booking the Snorkeling and Stingray excursion at Gibbs Cay on Turks and Caicos through HAL. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are washroom facilities on Gibbs Cay or if there is a facility on the boat to get to Gibbs Cay.

We booked one thru the ship and I was really disappointed. They took us to a reef, but we were rushed, and had to stay with the guide instead of taking our time. We went to the stingrays, and there was only one of them there. We are due to go back in November, and I booked a private snorkeling tour. I guess we will just have to wait and see if they are operating then. We are supposed to leave 2 months from today. Also had a ferry trip to St. Bart's and snorkeling there planned, since we've seen SXM 3 other times. I feel guilty that I know they are working to get the islands ready for tourists again instead of being able to fix their own homes first.

May I ask, was the boat on the ship excursion a catamaran and was there bathroom facilities?

Met her once on the Ryndam. Amazing lady with the dressed up walker. I remember her stuffed cat. She was always happy and smiling. Everyone said Hello and got one back from her. She knew all the staff on the ship and they did flock to her as she treated them with respect and friendship. God Bless her.

So excited booked our 3 week cruise for next year. Missed cruising for 2 years and as stated really excited to get back on a ship. Hal all the way.

Any others on this cruise, either the 10 day,11 day, or the 21 day cruise? ;)

Hello Everyone! :D Back from my 11 day Southern Caribbean Wayfarer on the MS Noordam (March 9 to 20, 2015)

 

I knew other CC's that were going to be on this cruise too so it was more like my first solo cruise with training wheels.

 

This is my 5th time on the Noordam << I love this ship! I have seen all the the islands and never get tired of them. The tours were great. Mostly beach & sailing and swimming. Did some shopping and enjoyed some really good pizza in St Thomas << way better than on the ship. Don't get me wrong overall HAL has made some really good improvements. Personally I still think the pizza needs work.

 

I have already got a reservation next year SOLO on the Oosterdam Its the only way to keep the addiction in check LOL Knowing that I have another cruise on the horizon :D

 

I was invited to the Mariner Society Reception :eek: I was in my cabin and the phone starts ringing ? So I answer it and this lady says bla bla this is the guest relations desk <<<when i heard this I thought OMG there going say something about my CC not enough funds or over extended LOL This lady goes on to say I have over 130 days bla bla we would like to invite you to attend the Mariner Society Reception to receive your Bronze Medallion. Honestly I did not think I had that many days and kept thinking that they made a mistake or error.

 

Next thing I knew I was getting my picture taken wearing my Medallion with Captain Robert Jan Kan and his Second in command << I did not get his name sorry.

 

It was kinda exciting!! I thought HAL phased the metal award out and were no longer giving them out. Glad I was wrong. :D They also gave the other color metals too and The Captain also took pictures with others that had over a 1000 days. There were quite a few.

 

I am back at work and saving/making plans/ for the next cruise.

How very wonderful. Congrats on receiving your Bronze Medallion. Well when I read your post I got all happy, we have booked the Oosterdam as well. 2 years away from cruising has been torture. We go February 19 to March 11. When are you booked? I am so excited and know you are as well.

Congrats on your Bronze Medallion Shandryl That is really nice. Had to laugh when I read your notice. We missed our cruising the last 2 years and are gladly going back. We are doing the Oosterdam as well February 19 to March11 . When are you going? I can hardly wait!!!
