  1. I sailed on the Oasis in 2012, it was only my second cruise and my first solo cruise and I loved it. It never felt crowded and I found lots of places to be alone if I wanted too. The only time I had to wait on anything was the elevator which is normal on most ships. That being said I have been on 2 Princess cruises and loved them too. I understand it is not for everyone, but there is so much to do or not do whatever you like.

  2. I was just on the Grand and when I booked the options were 5:30, 6 or 8:15, I requested 6 and was wait listed. A few days later I was confirmed for 6pm, it said that on my personalizer; however when I boarded it said 5:30 on my cruise card. I assumed it was a mistake so I went to customer service, I was told there is no 6 o'clock seating, they only had 5:30 or 7:45. I was told that it would be ok to go in a little late as long as I had finished before the next seating, i did and it was never a problem.

  3. I know this has been done to death, but I can't seem to find a thread with an answer to my question.

I understand that I can bring a bottle of wine onboard with no corkage fee, but for any other bottles there is a corkage fee, that's fine. However do I bring that into the dining room, and will they keep it for me in the dining room for the next night. I don't fancy having to carry a bottle around with me every night before dinner.

    Thanks in advance

  4. I will be on the Grand in 16 days, my first time on her and only my second cruise with princess. One thing I really enjoyed on my last princess (Sapphire) was the afternoon tea, is that offered on all princess ships.

  5. Wow thanks for all the info, very helpful. I going to take the train and bus from union station to Palm springs airport and my brother in law will pick me up there. The only thing I am not sure of, when you say the bus is "near the cruise terminal", how close is near when dragging a suitcase...

  6. I arrive in San Pedro on a 3 day cruise from Vancouver and I need to get to Indio Palm Springs, I don't want to fly or drive, so any suggestions. I did find out there is a bus from union station but how to get there? Also is that bus reliable, any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks

Maybe you could answer my question. I am arriving in San Pedro port and need to get to Indio in Palm Springs. Driving or flying is not an option. I found that I can get a bus from Union Station ,what is the best way to get there and how long will it take to get to union station.

  8. Thanks for the info but I think I left it too late, my cruise is in 25 days and the occasions option is not there now. Oh well I guess I can tell them on board, it will be my 65th birthday less than 2 weeks after and this will be my present to myself and I am going solo.... Can't wait
  9. I had the Central Park balcony on Oasis which is the sister ship to Allure. I loved it, it overlooked Central Park and especially at night it was very pretty. It is quite unique as it is inside the ship and yet open to the sky so you know what the weather is like.

  10. Although I have not sailed on the Regal, I did sail on the Oasis 2 years ago,(my first solo cruise). I adored it, I had a Central Park balcony and although I didn't use it as much as I thought I would, (too busy) I would still get one again, or maybe an inside promenade. The entertainment was great, food was amazing and the staff were exceptional. It is an amazing ship and never felt crowded although it was full. I would agree with others that a week is not really enough time to see everything, although I gave it a good try..

    Happy sailing whichever you choose

  11. I went solo for the first time on RC Oasis of the seas 2 years ago and I admit I was a little nervous going on my own. I had such a good time, I met so many people and I loved being able to chose what I did without having anyone else to consider. There was a singles get together at one of the bars on the second night and I met a lot of great people there. Just explore the ship and you will be surprised how much fun you will have, people are very friendly on board. I am going on a 3 day Vancouver to LA Solo in October, can't wait.

    Have a great cruise

  12. Hi everyone,

I am from England transplanted into BC Canada many years ago and I am also going solo for the first time on the Oasis on Sept 29th. (yes I have posted on my roll call) I am a young at heart 62 year old widow, DH died in 2003. Always wanted to cruise but took me a while to get up the nerve to go solo, however I am so excited I can't think of anything else, and I am on CC every day looking for tips. It would be great to hook up with other solos on my cruise, male or female, just to hang out with occasionally but not all the time.

    Happy Cruising everyone

  13. Lara,

I loved reading your review. Although I live in Canada I am originally from just outside of Manchester so I found it very refreshing to read this with an english flair to it. I looked at the Epic but then decided on the Oasis of the seas and I am going solo for the first time at the end of September. I am so excited but also a little nervous being on my own, I am a 62 year (young) widow so not sure what to expect. I am looking forward to doing what I want when I want to, but also want to meet new people.

I loved the fashion show every day, while it is really nice to see pictures of the ship and ports, I loved seeing all the pictures of you and your new friends. As a few others have already said you are very pretty. I am already planning what to wear each day and night on the ship.

    Cheers and happy cruising...
