  1. Like a car accident, or a moped accident? Do you remember vaguely when?

It was mopeds. We heard the screaming, and I watched "them" trying to get down into the trees to whomever was down there. We got off the ship and headed straight to the taxi stand, so this was early day. Maybe 11'ish? I don't really remember what time we docked.

  2. Speaking of incidents, do you happen to know what happened at Cozumel, as we were supposed to be leaving port? Apparently one of the tours got back to port very later, which caused us to delay leaving for Miami for about an hour or so. But there was also that ambulance that was driving very slowly down the pier towards us. Speculation abound as to what that's about. We didn't have the same captain when we returned to Miami as we left with, so some of my family were thinking that's what the ambulance was for. But then my mother heard some third hand account about a 10-year-old dying by moped accident in Cozumel?? But I can't seem to find anything to verify that story, so I don't know if that's even true. Maybe someone here heard something about it?

We were on this cruise, as well, and we passed a horrific accident in Cozumel on our way to Nachi Cocum. It had literally JUST happened, and we could hear the screams as we drove past. It will haunt me for the rest of my life. But I, also, cannot find any news story to tell me what happened.

There was also another accident just past the entrance to Nachi, but there was already an ambulance there.

  3. I'm one of the ones that didn't care for her. While I have no problem with a dry sense of humor (I am often quite dry, myself), I found her to be incredibly raunchy, even in "family friendly" settings. There were a few times I actually took my young son out of a show because of the "jokes" she was telling.

Now before I am jumped on, let me say that I am not talking about taking my son to an R rated comedy or something. I am talking about the nightly production shows, which up until that cruise, we have always enjoyed as a family, with no problems. But she made comments and jokes that were just down right disgusting, and, IMHO, completely inappropriate.

  4. I was just on the Vista, and you can definitely message multiple people in a group message, as well as message them one on one. When we signed into the app, everybody who was linked together was already there. (we had a group of 35 people, with all bookings linked.) If they didn't pay for the chat feature, you could see their name, but it was grayed out and you couldn't select it.

  5. I know that if you use the gift cards (cruise cash?), it applies to their account. My son was given $25 for Christmas, and that's what he used for our most recent cruise. It showed directly under his account, not mine. But you're right, it didn't cut off his spending when it was gone (he went 54 cents over).

  6. I am not a fan of it either. It didn't ask if I wanted to try it.....it just gave it to me. I ended up calling and booking it over the phone. It's funny but it didn't even show the staterooms I ended up booking as available online.

Per my PVP, online will always only show a certain number of cabins in each category, regardless of how many are actually available. I think she said 10 per category, but I may be remembering that incorrectly. So if you want to know full availability, you need to find a PVP you like and call them, as opposed to booking online. :)

  7. When we cruised on the Magic out of Galveston, we had to wait until we were boarded, then stand in line at Guest Services to put our cash on our account.

When we said on the Legend out of Seattle, they let us put our cash on our account during check in.

My question is - which way is it done in Miami? We are sailing on the Vista in March, and I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around all the differences.

  8. We are booked at Nachi Cocom. We are in port from 10 - 6, but it is (probably) elegant night, and we have early dining. If we decide that yes, we want to go to elegant night, does this seem like a reasonable timeline?

Off the ship and at Nachi Cocom about 11. Eat lunch between 12:30 - 1:00. Leave Nachi at 4 to return to ship. Shower, dress, and dinner at 6.

  9. Yeah, good way to describe the ship! And yes, Jen Baxter was her name. We didn't care for her at all. We just felt that she was always trying to be someone/something she wasn't. Hard to explain, just didn't care for her.

She's the one. I found her to be incredibly raunchy at "family friendly" shows. I don't mind some of that humor for myself, but had my son with me, and specifically only went to family friendly shows.

That being said, we certainly didn't let her ruin our cruise! Alaska was AMAZING, and I would go back tomorrow, if I could.

  10. It was a nice ship. A bit dated, but nice. The lines at all food venues were crazy. The "24-hour pizza" was usually closed by 7 pm. The service was perfectly adequate, but not the over-the-top service we had on the Magic. (Crew may have changed since we went.) We were cruising Alaska, so we didn't really partake in any of the outside activities. Strongly disliked the CD we had. The shows were excellent, never went to the comedy club.

  11. Currently available on Breeze, Conquest, Elation, Ecstasy, Fantasy, Freedom, Glory, Imagination, Inspiration, Magic, Miracle, Paradise, Pride, Sensation, Splendor, Sunshine, Triumph, Valor, Victory and Vista.

That list is from the app itself, but it doesn't say what the schedule of new ships is.

ETA: I just went into the actual app (info above was from the screen while I was downloading the app), and it said the Dream was "coming soon."

  12. We are in Jamaica (Ocho Rios) from 8 am - 4 pm, and I have already booked our private tour with Know Jamaica Tours (Marva Shaw).

Now I'm trying to plan a reasonable itinerary with plenty of time for traffic, unexpected stops, etc.

I know we want to go to the Blue Hole. What else should we ask to get in there? I'm thinking that for peace of mind, others in my party will want to be back at the ship by 2:30 or so.

  13. Thank you for the replies! Great advice.

Another question I had was: we are scheduled to get back in Galveston at 8am. How long does it usually take to get off the ship? We have a wedding (which we thought was going to be in the evening) at 2:30pm about 2.5 hours away the day we get back. So we would have to be on the road NLT 12pm. Is that possible?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Absolutely possible, IF your arrival isn't delayed by fog. That seems to happen relatively frequently in Galveston.

    Good luck, and have fun!

  14. Is it forum legal to ask for a PVP recommendation? Not sure the protocol on that but I'm desperate here and carnival is zero help. So if allowed can I ask for recommendations?

    Much obliged.

I don't post often, but I think I remember that we cannot share this type of information here. :( 'Tis a shame, because my PVP is amazing, and I would love to share their information with you.

  15. Do you mean your husband can't swim or he just doesn't like it much?

He can't swim, and water is not his favorite. My son can swim, but again, it isn't his choice of activity. It makes me sad, because I love the ocean, but I want us all to have fun.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

  16. We are sailing on the Vista in March. We can only afford to do one excursion, and I want to get the best bang for our buck!

With that being said, we will be stopping in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Ocho Rios. Which port is the best to take an excursion in? We have been to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, but went on our own in both of them. We have never been to Jamaica.

I’m looking for my husband, myself and our 9 (almost 10) year old son. My husband isn’t a swimmer, and my son is afraid of most creatures (i.e. a dolphin swim is not for us). I'm not against going outside of Carnival for an excursion, nor do I have a problem with using Carnival. I just want suggestions for which port to look in, I guess.
