We took my daughter on her firs cruise around 9 month old.  We tried to go in the pool and they made us get out of the pool area. Only potty trained kids are allowed. So maybe if you are just doing feet they may allow it, but it didn't work for us.  Cruising with a baby had a few challenges, but over all was pretty simple. Washing bottles was a challenge, but we made it work. You all including the baby will love it.

Thank you.  I am excited.  If I have to keep her during the time they get in the pool I don't have a problem with that. Yeah we are trying to figure out the bottle thing, we may buy the premade bottles already so we wont have to worry about washing any.  Plus its only a 3 day, so I think we will be ok..

also, you might want to contact carnival to check, but on my last cruise, I did see a family that had a small inflatable blow up bathtub. they had the baby on an upper deck, away from the pool area, but put water in the bathtub using a buck of water.  it wasn't full, just enough to sit and splash in.  I never saw anyone tell them they couldn't do this, so you might try it.  or if you have a balcony, you can put it out there.  just put it away when you aren't using it.

*note, I said inflatable bathtub, not a huge baby pool.  it was small, but the baby seemed to enjoy it.

Thank you. That is helpful.  We could do that.  Like I said my first cruise I was so busy being lost most of the time that I never made it into the pool, so we may not even have that big of an issue.

  3. Hey hey yall. I am taking my second cruise this December. It is for my sister's 30th birthday.  When we booked initially we did not know she was pregnant.  We now have a baby we added to the mix.  She will be about 8 months when we sail.  I was looking at FAQ last night and it said that babies are not allowed in the pool - is this correct?  Now when I cruised in April in 2013 I never got in the pools was busy doing other things, so if it came down to me having the baby I don't mind. But wanted to get some insight, as can we put her feet in the water, can we sit on the edge with her?

We are sailing on Victory.  This is everyone's first cruise and my second one. First time on this boat.  Any insight will be helpful.

    thank you.

  4. Being a beer drinker myself one of the ticks against cruising as a vacation is the limited varieties of beers available. Out of the 5,000+ brands of beer, cruise lines can only carry a limited number. Lime-a-rita's is not one that is chosen by the beverage managers. You can order a number of different maragritas from a bar so having the beer margarita would normally not be available.

Think of it like soda choices. Diet Mr. Pibb or Fresca may be your favorite soda but not enough people would order it to make it worthwhile.

So skip cheers and just enjoy the DOD's on occasion.

    Awesome. Thank you.

Yeah figured its not really one a lot of peoples taste buds, but figured I'd ask anyways. DOD's it is :)

  5. Does anybody know if the ships have these? (Conquest more specifically) and if so are they part of the Cheers program?

That is the only 'beer' I drink and can see the cheers program being beneficial in that aspect. Other wise the DOD's will be good with me and ill stay clear of the Cheers.

    thanks yall.

  6. We did an island tour of St. Kitts when we were there a few months ago. A review of the excursion can be found here

We really enjoyed our experiences on the island.

The trip included a tour of Romney Manor and Brimstone Hill Fortress-which is the fort I believe you are referencing.

The tour was about 45 pp, for four hours.

We were at the fort for about an hour and Romney Manor for 30 minutes. You can do a Brimstone Hill Fortress only tour, I believe, that maybe better suited for what you are looking to do while on the island.

The tour we did also included a drive through of the downtown highlights, including the Berkeley Memorial Clock and some of the historic churches.

Not sure if going through the hassle of renting a car and driving to the fort is worth it if you can get an excursion that includes that along with other notably stops.

    Happy planning!

Thank you. yeah I think I am leaning towards a tour with Carnival which is about $60 per person and goes to the Fortress. A little more pricey but a little more piece of mind for me since this will only be my second cruise and the first one, only excursion I did was the sting rays at HMC.

  7. 8 days are definitely better than 7... :)

And for the slide, I just take my towel up with me and leave it by the rail. I tend to do "multiple" trips down the slides :)

yeah everyone says 8 too. First cruise I got sick at dessert time so it sort of dictated my rest of the cruise hoping I wont get sick this time lol and I never made it to the slide on the first cruise either.

Yeah multiple times down the slide is most likely a given so ill take my towel then.

    thanks.

  8. Thanks the info is helpful - I didn't realize that people held changes for hours that's a little excessive. but putting my towel on it so I can go down the slide isn't consider hogging, so that is great news.

    thanks again yall.

  9. Yeah another CHOG thread... :)

To answer the question, yes, there is a towel shack. You just have to show them your S&S card. It is nice to see you offering to be considerate of not needing a chair.

thank you. yeah I'll get enough sun in the pool so wont need to hold one up knowing ill be in the pool, ill just find one later if I want to lounge. But was just concerned with all the CHOG threads that I have come across that no one really states a place to put your towel otherwise. But knowing there is a station then I wont even bother bring one with me.

    thanks again.

  10. I understand the issue of lounger holder-uppers.

and I have only been on one cruise and never made it to the pool anytime it was a 4 day cruise with 3 ports - so pool wasn't something that I managed. However this second cruise I am planning has 3 sea days - if I bring my towel with me I would put it on a lounger to get in the pool and I stay in pool longer - don't want to be a chair hog - but frankly not sure where else I would put my towel otherwise.

But is there like a towel station at the pools to get a towel when I get out, so I wouldn't have to bring one with me at all - and avoid hoging a lounger?

  11. Can I only get an OBC if the price of my cruise drops and I buy Early Saver? We did not buy Early Saver and have paid the cruise off when we booked it. Any chance of getting an OBC? We leave out of Miami on September 20th.

From my understanding you had to book Early Saver, I have only took one cruise last April. But you could always put in a request for OBC through the price reduction form that people who do book early saver use to get the credit and see if carnival gives it to you.

  12. All good info. all but KFC we have that here - do need to bring that back on the ship. Though when I was in Naussa I did see a sign for a Chicken Big Mac at their Mcd's lol but we ended up at Fish Fry - that was better.

I will make sure that we eat a breakfast before hand and pack our lance crackers. That's what I was more afraid of - was could we bring lance crackers from home in our carry on so we had them in the port - and it seems I can. So I am good. So that will hold me off until we get back to ship for some Guys burgers or whatever else they may have on the ships.

    Thanks yall :)

  13. I am planning my second cruise.

On my first cruise I think I spent most my money in ports on lunches - when I could have just gotten back on the boat, this time around hoping to spend less on food, when I already paid for food on the cruise.

So my question, well guess its a two part question: Can we bring snacks on the boat & if so could we bring snacks with us into ports?

Cruise I am looking at Ports in, St Kitts, St Marrten, PR, Grand Turk.

    Thanks for any input.

  14. Save your money for another port. Grand Turk is very small and a great beach day.

We love Jacks Shack its a short walk down the beach.Heres a website to print out a voucher for a free shot of rum :)

    www.jacksshack.tc

By the way if you look on the port of call boards you will find independent tour operators that we all use that are cheaper (and much better usually) than through the ship and rely on word of mouth (and getting cruisers back to the ship on time). We almost never use Carnival excursions and have never had an issue

Jack shack is defly on the list of things to do in Grand Turk - I read lots about that. I am originally from Key West so we are considered 'Conchs' so that's why I wanted to check out the conch grave yard.

I really am wanting to get to the lighthouse, so figured since carnival has an excursion that has that as a stop as well as seeing other things around the island and still have time to get to Jacks & the graveyard. But I will defly take a look at the Port board to see what everyone is saying. thank you.

  15. the pool is free to use anytime at margarittaville. The conch graveyard is very easy to find. When you get off the pier right after the welcome to Grand Turk sign turn to your right and follow the path, it will bring you to a rocky beach just walk along there and you will find it. I would have had pictures but forgot my camera on the Victory on my last visit ( never got it returned even though had my name and address on it) So that is why I am returning to the Victory on Monday :D :D

Awesome thank you. Sorry about your camera.

  16. If I buy a carnival excursion that says only takes 2 hours - we will be in Grand Turk about 6 hours - is there a cost to use the pool at Margaretville when we get back or just the drinks/food?

Also does anyone know if the conch graveyard is easy to get to from the beach at the port, any pictures?

This will be my second cruise so I am ok spending the extra money on a carnival based excursion so that I am for sure safe on them holding the boat if excursions run late.

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks.

  17. Does any one know if the forts are easy to get to - and if so what is the best way to get there?

I am planning my 2nd cruise and so far all I am seeing for this port is Beach & shopping - and though I love the beach, I live in Florida, I would really like to see other things.

  18. My first thought is to go with the 8 day for the extra day. St. Maarten is one of my favorite ports. But I'd prefer St. Thomas to St. Kitts, and I'd love to visit HMC. I really think it's 50/50 here, and you're going to have to choose based on what works best for you. But I still would prefer an 8 day to a 7 day. I love sea days. :D

yeah my first cruise only had 1 sea day - so I'd like to see what the cruise ship has to offer on more then 1 sea day. The 8 day cruise has 3 sea days. May be with that many sea days I will see more of what the ship has - my first cruise I stayed closely to the lido deck and casino though I don't gamble. Guess you can say I was a little overwhelmed:D I always seemed to get in the wrong elevators and would have to go to one floor and then switch elevators and back track. Was defiantly confused. Think I will bring the ship floor plan with me this time.

  19. I would take the 8 day for the obvious reason but also because it has ports you haven't been to before. Even though you love HMC you might fall in love with a different port too.

That is very true. The 8 day is also in a better date range for my close out that month, May is my year end close at work. So I am thinking the 8 day is the one to go for. Once I book I will come here to let yall know my decision. Thanks again for yalls opinions.

  20. I didn't have 4 people in my room, but when I booked July 2012 for my cruise in April 2013 it was only me. I was told I would be able to add someone to the room for the taxes & fees of the room as when I booked it was for only me so I only paid taxes. I added the 2nd person in Feb. But they did say if the boat sold out even though my room is based on 2 people that there would possibly be a chance that I wouldn't be able to add.

So I would for piece of mind - book when you for sure know weather the fourth will be able to go.
