  1. Traveling transatlantic in May on Island Princess by way of Iceland.  Been on many Princess cruises but not this smaller size ship.  Can anyone answer what the typical showtimes, these days are at night so can see what is available for private dining in main rooms each evening before the first show time scheduled?

It was announced after the safety briefing today that Royal will be visiting Skagway after all as space became available. Royal will be parking at Railroad dock aft and using the tender service .

Did u interpret that Royal will be there thru the end of the season.  If the rest of season, then 1 of the other three ships must have had to take a ship out of service or is changing port of call.

That was posted by The Skagway News on their FB page.  The only other public info is here and hasn't been updated since June 30th.  On your sailing it is likely that you'll either be at RRA (and tender) or move to the open ORE dock.  There's only 3 ships in port so they can do some maneuvering, as long as RRA remains viable!

Thanks, so much, for the new resource of docking news.  Hope Skagway News is correct info on BRD dock, but at least we are still going to Skagway in one form or the other

For 8/13, it looks like the Zuiderdam will need to move to another dock from RRF as there is only 3 ships in port that day so the Grand Princess will be able to tender in.

For 8/27 sailing, that may not work as there will be 4 ships in town.  The Grand may not be docking at Skagway that day.

Since the Broadway dock is open on 8/13 they could offer either the Zuiderdam or even Grand that dock, time will tell.

We are on the Grand a week before you and received this notification from our travel agent several days ago:

Please be advised that due to the closure of the forward berth at the Railroad Dock, Grand Princess will utilize the rear berth for the duration of the call to Skagway, Alaska on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Out of an abundance of caution, the path adjacent to the dock will be closed and a ship-to-shore water shuttle service will be available to enable you to go ashore. As a result of this change, wheelchair access may be limited.

I haven’t checked to see what other ships are scheduled to be in Skagway that day. We were certainly relieved though, as we were really looking forward to the White Pass Rail trip.

From day one of the season Grand was to be at Aft RR dock on 8/13 but of course now will tender.

We're on the Grand, B2B starting Aug 17. Scheduled at RRF on Aug 21 and Aug 27- 3 ships and 4 ships respectively. So what are our chances? Website stills shows Skagway.

We r with u on 8/17 trip and we should be good, will know for sure when the Grand is due on 8/7 at Skagway with the same 3 ships.  We could even walk off on Ore dock verses tender from Aft RR dock.  My opinion, will not stop on return of your B2B, will stop elsewhere..

Thanks for the information.  We are on the Discovery sailing on 8/14 and anxiously awaiting news of our Skagway port visit.  Guess we will have to wait until the weekend to see if we get any news.

    Have a great cruise.

Your Skagway should be good to go as only 3 total ships visit during your day there.  Worst case scenario is tender only from Aft railroad dock.  Handicapped passengers only an issue for them in this scenario.

  9. Next week will be my first Elite status free laundry privileges.  How does it work out, as have not used Princess laundry since 30 years ago long before self service machines?  Then we put our cabin # somewhere on each piece, how do they do it today and tips on making the experience positive?  Can you even select cold or hot water washes, are shirts returned on hangers, wash/dry your laundry separately from anybody else, etc?

  10. Just returned 7/14 on Caribbean Princess, 7 day cruise, there were 2 production shows only. BRAVO with live musicians and one company review production with pre-recorded musical accompaniment with 4 live singers and dancers with pretty dazzling stage changes behind them. The Princess house band was the best have ever seen, be sure to watch for special Jazz music from 6 members in venues and Piazza.

  11. When purchasing a future cruise credit, while on board, will one always get a reward of onboard credit? Can't quite remember but think I always have.

The OBC reward will be put on the next future cruise you book. If say you fill out form on early days of cruise, have always gotten e-mail couple days later and could take those credit confirmation numbers down to future cruise desk before return of even a weeks cruise and book onboard a FUTURE cruise and get the reward applied in that NEW booking confirmation.

  12. Spoke this week with someone, who claimed special knowledge, who stated they had Ocean Medallian updated status and future plans that have not been released to general public. She confirmed, what I saw, that my Regal Princess 8/28 25 day cruise was no longer noted as the last preview verses full Medallian cruises thereafter. Had been hopeful that maybe 80 to 90% would be ready when we sailed soon.

She said that total focus is now shifted to the Caribbean Princess to be the very first total ship rollout AFTER it goes into its next dry dock in a few months. Regal will only have cabins within Muster B until it goes into it's 2020 dry dock, then and only then, additional service ship-wide. Hoping for continual progress on Regal is gone until 2020.

On side note she confirmed, when I stated how great the internet service was on my Caribbean Princess trip 3 weeks ago, that yes that internet I experienced was the upgraded often call Medallian internet. She said that internet is active on the Regal as well. Internet was super with strong signals everywhere, dependable and very fast download speeds than any Princess ship sailed.

  13. Very interesting reading in regards to the use of Private Tour Groups. I guess I am bit of "old-school," we do realize that we are in a foreign country, and we do like the security of the ship, especially Princess Tours, noting that if we are delayed for any reason, the ship will wait for us. Maybe it is a little bit extra to tour with Princess, but then again, we are spending a rather large sum of money to be there and to cruise in the first place.

We have always be quite satisfied with the quality of the tours by both Princess and Celebrity.

Agree, and if you had a bad experience with say a tour guide with limited English idiot in Spain, Princess will refund the shore excursion total price when you share the experience with them.

  14. I just got off the Caribbean Princess yesterday. I thought the WiFi was great - I was able to post pics on Facebook and Instagram, send/receive emails and iMessages. Coverage was strong all over the ship - in my cabin, on the open decks and in the public rooms. I did see a handful of staff in ***** polos, so I think they are still working on Ocean Medallion.

Thanks for the report, upgraded WIFI seems to be happening as this is required as first step necessary for complete rollout of ***** later this year on Caribbean Princess. WIFI will always have a cost, old or new.

  15. We like to arrive around 10:30 and board around Noon so we can have lunch in the DR. ;)

DR open till 1:30pm even if the dining info sheet given to you inside the terminal does not show any DR to be open at all. Just happened by DR and noticed people in there and staff confirmed their open till 1:30.

  16. We recently came back from Western Carribbean and got to the pier about 1:30 pm, had a Princess transfer from the airport. It didn't look like they had been boarding for very long, I suspect the ship might have gotten in late, so we were aboard by 2 pm and we were elite, so no lines, by the way this was the cruise that sat at the Houston harbor for 3 days, due to the oil spill in the channel. We stayed on the ship and sailed on Tuesday afternoon. We could see a lot of people disembarking in the two previous days. The captain and crew were wonderful. We made the best of it, and had only one stop, to Cozumel. A cruise is what you make of it!:)

Has anyone on the 3/22 cruise gotten their refunds from Princess yet? They tell me to look after 4/18 on my credit card.
