  1. Sailing on the Vista in September and the first night we are going to eat at the steakhouse. However, the MDR dessert that night is tiramisu (which I love and rarely get to eat except on special occasions). Sooooo... I'm wondering if I ask really nicely if I could possibly get the MDR dessert instead as nothing on the steakhouse menu really appeals to me? Major first world problem! I guess I could always go down the MDR and request it to take to my room.

The MDR included lobster tail is that if a warm water lobster (the same type offered in those Florida all-you-can-eat lobster buffets).  It may no longer be the case (thanks to cutbacks) but the Steakhouse upcharge lobster tail used to be that of Maine lobster, IIRC.  Warm water lobster is very different in taste and texture from Maine lobster.

Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE fresh-caught, fresh cooked Abaco lobster.  But that is not the quality of warm water lobster we're getting in the Carnival MDR.

I had no idea they were different lobster species. Interesting.

Hi everyone --  I am planning out our evenings and which evening to book at the steakhouse ahead of time but I am also wanting to book the chef's dinner... however, I am not sure what night it is (and the day is not included in the planner).  Based on experience, does anyone know?

Log on to your booking on the Carnival website then choose Cruise Manger / Specialty Dining / Chef's Table. You can then pick the day of your choice on the dropdown menu on the right. We are cruising on Sept. 3rd on the Vista and have booked our Chef's Table. Looking forward to it!

The buckets were like $52 (or there about) and went down to around $46, I guess it could have been some kind of taxes that I missed.

$52 for 4 beers or is it 6 now?

I prefer the bottles because you can close the lid. It’s rare that the beer is cold enough when it’s served. With the bottles I can put the lid back on and put it in the cooler. Usually once we get to know the bartenders they would not open them and I’d put it straight into the cooler.

Me too! I bring a long a small soft side cooler with me and kindly ask the bartenders fill it with ice. I typically put my beer in the freezer for an hour or so before I drink them to get them cold enough for my liking.

  6. On the first day of our last Carnival cruise in 2016 out of Galveston, they could only sell 12 oz beers until they got into international waters or something of that nature. Does anyone know if that is still the case? I also heard they have switched from 16 oz aluminum bottles to 16 oz cans if anyone can comment on that.

  7. The last time we cruised with Carnival we got our Sail and Sign cards at the terminal check in location. I've heard that now you don't get your S&S Card until you get to your room. Is that true? I've also heard that it won't work until you attend the muster drill. Anyone experience this recently? We are leaving the 3rd of Sept. and can't wait!

    Thanks!!

  8. Personally, I take my organizer AND my bottled pills in a zip lock bag in my carry on. I also have a list of my scripts written on paper and in my wallet so if anyone needs to know fast what I am taking then I have it at hand. At the very least, take extra meds in case you are delayed for whatever reason.

  9. I wouldn't even consider the hurricane issue as other posters have said and for reasons stated. IMHO just book your cruise, BUY trip insurance (we use Travel Guard) and have a good time. Technically, hurricane season lasts until Nov. but most come in Aug. and Sept.

  10. Personally, I would just book your 2 person room and when and if the other party joins you then you can go from there. There are just many variables to make an easy call on this one. That said, I think I would at least call a Carnival PVP to book your room and tell them the story. They could be really helpful in this case.
