  1. Cruising with you on the 29th and also the following week. Doing a B2b. Anyway we sailed out of Nola on the same weeks 4 times. Temperature was always 60ish at night and close to 80 during the day. I sweated on my walk from the Embassy Suites. It was a bit cool going down the river. Looking at the weather for Sunday 29th, it looks like it will be a high of around 70 when we leave. Once we get out to the gulf, the temperature will be in the high 70's. I looked at the sea tracker today because this week they have the same ports as our cruise. The ship was located in the middle of the Caribbean and it was 80. All ports will be warm and the water will be warm. See you onboard.

  2. We're booked on the Glory also for B2B 01/29/23. We left out NOA numerous times and stay at the embassy suites 2 blocks up from the port. We walk to the terminal (5 minutes). Prices are reasonable depending on when you go. We're booked @ $179/night. Good luck. What date are you sailing?

DH and I booked this cruise last February because of the different route. Then in June Carnival changed up the itinerary for our sail date of 1/24/2021: San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua, Dominica, Barbados, San Juan. I only see this route offered on 4 different dates. I'm really pleased with the change as only port I've been to on the new itinerary is St. Thomas.  So very happy to be cruising on Fascination, or any ship, out of San Juan before the change in 2022.

We are also booked on this cruise of 1/24/2021. Sailed out of San Juan 3 times on the Victory and the Valor twice. Found this cruise and can't wait to experience this smaller ship as well as Tortola & Antigua. Luckily there was a balcony available (M263). Aft Stern Cabin.

  4. Noticed a change in dining from February  2019 to February 2nd 2020. Supposedly the change happened about a month ago. The servers take the complete order including desert at the very start when you arrive (they didn't wait for your diner mates to get there) . I noticed that this cut down our dining time from 2 hours down to 1 1/2 hours.

  5. Sailed twice on SBS. First was on the Victory, 2013 when the power went out at the stadium with the 20 minute delay. We sailed out of San Juan and this was the Repo cruise ending up in Miami and waste last night of the cruise. Second was this past one on the Dream My Pats against Sea-Hawks..... Sailed out of NOLA so the signal was strong all the way to the gulf. Should have seen the crowd deflate when Carol blew that play :p:p:D. Had a blast and will be staying this year SSB night in FLL instead of flying back during the game. Finger foods are abundant as well as other snacks. It's funny how this past year everyone saved seats prior to the Muster Drill and when they went back, everything was re-Arranged and saving seat material was everywhere .

  6. When we cruised out of San Juan we were told there was a liquor store after you checked in and before you got on the boat. We hardly could believe it - but it was true! Right there in the cruise terminal between check in and going to the boat. Naturally we loaded up on Jack Daniels and Rum and all kinds of things and carried them right onto the boat - there was a huge line (obviously) but we were very well stocked for the cruise. Might want to check with others who have cruised out of there and see if that is still going on... It was a Princess Ship, but I think all the cruise ships use the same terminal...

There are 2 different piers in SJ. I know the Carnival port has the same liquor store as you walk into the terminal on the right. Another up the escalator/elevator also on the right. RC docks at the pier across the Bay. Not sure what they have there.

  7. For us the ship was crowded but not overly so. Hennie and other crew said almost every three and four person room was at max occupancy. In fact the ship had 4,000 guests and 1,500 crew is what I heard a few times. But it's so big that you don't see everyone. Getting decent seats to shows wasn't hard, getting a spot for the dive in movie was nearly impossible. Also the towel bandits were out in force. People that lay their towel down for the entire family and then go get the buffet or walk around. I would grab two chairs for the four of us, as the kids never sat for more than two minutes.

I slowed down on the review because I was still going through pictures.

Also, Carnival did away with the comment cards in the room, I really need to single out two employees.

Gede from the MDR - Scarlet was the best waiter I have ever had, on or off ship. Very attentive, knew the kids names when seeing them around the ship (he worked as a bus boy for the lido deck as well). He knew what we liked, and would combine dishes and present them to us. I had two lobster tails and a steak on cruise elegant, and it was because he combined three dishes to do it. No $20 charge. He knew what drinks we liked and even had special requests honored. We had the option of tomato soup every night after one girl requested it. He was above and beyond. The kids miss him almost more than the ship itself.

The next was Ms. Janice in the Camp Carnival, the girls loved her and begged constantly to go to camp to be with her. She also would great the girls around the ship and would tell us which times that camp wasn't doing much and which times were 'can't miss'. The girls loved camp so much, which allowed us to have more QT time.

Great employees. So many others I didn't catch their name. Like the Bulgarian waiter on the sunset pool deck. He simply wanted to be called "Hey". "When you want a drink, say HEY and I show up" He was very good and his drink recommendations were great as well, and he would also point ouch which bartenders had the heavier hand. lol

I saw complaints of the food and service in our FB group but I had no problems with service anywhere. I felt bad I couldn't give out more envelopes on the last day.

Next time I'll make better notes of the names.

We cruised on the Dream Feb. 1 thru 8 and also had Gede in the MDR. Very Nice person. Had a wonderful cruise that started off right with the Patriots winning.:D:D:D:D

  8. We were on the Dream in room 2285 2 weeks ago and I could say that the room was wonderful. Not so if you enjoy the Sun. Early Morning or late afternoon is all you get. Our cruise had awful sea days weather wise but we made the best of it. Better than the weather in NH that's for sure. The room was quiet as could be and the location was by the forward elevators so the walk to the Lido was short. All in all I was pleased.

  9. Loved the Chacchoben Ruins tour we took 2 weeks ago. Luis our tour guide was great. He's was there when they were excavating the first ruin at that site in 1991. He's full of knowledge about the Mayans.

  10. From the first paragraph mentioned under the Jones Act:

"The Jones Act (also known as the Passenger Services Act) prohibits ships of Non-U.S registry from embarking and debarking guests at two different U.S ports. Such travel would constitute point-to-point transportation between two U.S ports, which is prohibited on foreign flagged ships. Note: Puerto Rico and the U.S Virgin Islands (St. Thomas; St. Croix; St. John) are not in the category of U.S ports under this act.

Don't know much about this subject, but from the reading above it sounds like you would be all set.

Call carnival so they can confirm and that you folks would not be in SJ on embarkation.

Hope all goes good for your party and enjoy your cruise. Great cruise to take. We loved it last Feb.

  11. I would have to suggest next time you take couples cruise, don't bring the kids. It sounds like you didn't want a family vacation this time, so perhaps leave the kids at grandma's

My thoughts exactly!!!!!! We always went on vacation with the Kids.:D:D Never counted on other people to babysit. Now we have our couple cruises since we are empty nester's. Just the way we are.:)

  12. I would highly recommend renting a wheelchair - there will be a LOT of walking that he probably won't be able to do. My mom is in a wheelchair, and from my experience, Carnival is really good about dealing with wheelchair guests.

I will say, if you rent one, as tempting as it will be, don't rent an electric scooter. Yes, they are really convenient, but unless you have a handicapped room (and I doubt if you do), the electric scooter won't fit through the cabin door. So a manual (push) fold up wheelchair is what you'll need.

Good luck talking your dad into it - if you are successful, he'll thank you for doing it sooner or later!

    Have a great cruise!!

Not true about the scooter not fitting thru the cabin door. My wifes scooter fit thru all doors, even the cabin door on all of our cruises.

  13. My Mom worked at a shoe shop that employed over 600 people back in the 60's when I was a child. She played the pool, 1$ per week for herself and my Dad who also worked there. Anyway after many years she finally won and the Jackpot was a little over $600. Lot of money back the when my dad only made $60/Week. Well luck was on her side when she proceeded to pull her name 3 more weeks in a row. Talk about some pissed off coworkers.....:)
