  1. you are exactly right Bob, we always book MTD and I always prebook 630 - which is a perfect time for us. Also if someone books the same time every night, they try and sit them in the same place with the same waiters etc., which we also really like :)

I did not realise they would try to keep us with the same waiters, which would be great. We found the biggest downside of MTD versus fixed time was not getting to know the waiters. We also like 6.30 so I will book that for each night provisionally for our October cruise and see what happens.

  2. I still don't have a grasp on the whole traditional vs MTD vs making reservations for specific times.

On our last cruise ....... We always had a table for 2.

I think I read recently where MTD is where they put you in with whomever to fill a table? We never had that issue - was that because we always set a reservation? We are taking our 3 boys this time and would rather not be seated with strangers, so should I get off the MTD wait list?

    Hi Mattg

You are missing one of the joys of cruising if you think we are all "strangers"! We are just friends you haven't yet met, and might not have the pleasure of meeting if you sit by yourselves. With MTD you get to meet many different people - try it. I higly recommend it.

  3. Hello there.

If you're wishing to bring personal wine or champagne onboard with you on embarkation day, you may do so. The limit is two (2) bottles (no boxes) of 750ml each per stateroom.

    We hope this info helps!

Uh-oh, the police are cruising the boards. Please sir, I will only bring 2 bottles for our stateroom, just enough for embarkation day.

  4. Maybe it's just me but when I read posts from people about to embark on their first ever voyage aboard a Cunard ship I find myself smiling as I anticipate that moment they step onboard. The first tour of the ship, the first meal, the first enrichment lecture, etc, etc.

I love the reaction I get when I tell people we are sailing on the QM2; the look of 'Wow' gets me every time. DH would say that 'small things amuse small minds' but not in this case :D

So to all you First Timers, savour every minute, enjoy every moment and be prepared to be hooked. Because I know I am :D:D

I made a reservation this week for the QM2 cruise Cape Town to Sydney 29 nights from January 27th to celebrate my wife's birthday on the 31st. My difficulty is that I am trying to keep it a secret from her, but having been reading the Cunard boards, watching videos and reading reports of the remastered ship, I am bursting with excitement. The elegance will be something completely different from the ships we've been on before.

Between now and then we have a TA on Brilliance of the Seas - I'm trying to keep it quiet until then.

  5. Hello guys, I have seen your questions bus as I'm celebrating my 30 years birthday today I don't have the time to look at your requests but I will do it tomorrow depending on my hangovers :D

My birthday is really first on Tuesday and that is kind of cool because its the day we celebrate that ze Germans pulled out of our country in the second world war so there is flags on busses and public buildings but I'm just thinking that they celebrate me and my brothers birthday.

Then let me be the first to wish you a very happy birthday - as I'm sure many others on this site will do. Your assistance has been wonderful.

  6. Hi Danish Viking

I have read this entire useful thread, where you have already answered most of my questions.

We are staying at the Park Inn Radisson for 3 nights before our cruise, which they say is right next to Fermoren station (we got it free with our airmiles). So we will take the metro from the airport to get there, but I presume we would have to change somewhere (Norreport?) to get to Osterport for our ship, which is the Eurodam on May 20th?

    Thanks

  7. We just booked a guarantee outside cabin yesterday for the May 20th Baltic 12 night on Eurodam at a real steal - $949 each! We were planning to go next year, but the price then is showing as $2499, so the saving pays for our airfare, excursions and all else - a no-brainer.

Wondering if we'll get an upgrade too, which would really be the cherry on top.
