  1. I just recevied my cruise documents yesterday for our cruise on Sirena which departs on January 11.  I last spoke to my travel agent (who is located in Miami) on D.ecember 22, 2022.  Oceania told him that our documents were mailed to us in November.  I thought they had been lost in the mail.  Fed Ex delivered them to my door.  Better late than never....

You will of course form your own opinions, but if you had not seen this, here are a few from someone who was in a similar position to yours. Hopefully you'll benefit from my observations on the ShoreEx - check the in-cabin brochure! 🍺🥌

Thanks for the information CurlerRob.  Really looking forward to trying Oceania.  We were supposed to do a Med cruise on Oceania in April 2021 but it was cancelled due to Covid.

  3. Thanks so much for taking the time to give us all this information and pictures.  We sail on Sirena on January 11, 2023 with another couple.  It is our first Oceania cruise and we can't wait!  We have sailed 3 times on Viking and it will be interesting to see how Oceania compares to Viking.

  4. Well after 8 months you can log into your account again on the PG website.  The only thing missing is the countdown.  I really liked logging in and seeing how many days until the cruise....

  5. We arrive on April 5 at approximately noon into Amsterdam to go on the Viking Rhine Getaway cruise.  We will then be shuttled by Viking to our river cruise ship.  Does anyone know if it is possible to do a tour of Kuekenhof Gardens that afternoon on our own?  Is there any company in Amsterdam that would take us there and back?

  6. We are also taking our first Viking river cruise on April 5.  We took our first Viking Ocean cruise to the Western Med last October.  I really wanted to do the optional excursion to Marksburg Castle but it shows as sold out.  I wonder if we could do it on our own?   Does anyone have any info on this?

  7. We are taking the Rhine Getaway cruise with Viking departing Amsterdam April 5 and arriving in Basel April 12, 2022.  We are going to take the included shore excursions in each stop.  It appears that none of the included excursions include a visit to a castle.  Does anyone know if it is possible to visit castles on our own when we stop at each city? If so, which ones can we visit?

  8. I read on a different forum yesterday that there is covid onboard the latest sailing among the guests and crew.  I also read that the cruise starting Jan 15 has been cancelled.  We are scheduled to go on the Feb 19 cruise.  I am now nervous about going.  What are other people doing?  Has any one cancelled their upcoming cruise?

Thanks for the pictures.  We are supposed to be going Feb 19/22.  Fingers crossed that Omicrom does not stop us from getting to Tahiti.  Do you have any pictures of the renovations done to the ship?

    Thanks...

Since reservations are now closed for my Viking Ocean cruise, how can I make additional reservations at Manfredi's, the Chef's Table, and The Restaurant upon embarkation?  Where do I go to do this?  Thanks!

We were on the Viking Jupiter in October to the Western Med.  The easiest way to book specialty restaurants on board is to use the Viking app.  I downloaded it on my phone.  It works great and the wifi on the ship works very well.  We made reservations through the app and had no problem getting a table on the day that we wanted.  It helped that there were only 165 people on the ship.  It was like having our own private yacht:)

    Hi tdl60!

Thanks for your incredibly helpful post about the free time on the included Monte Carlo tour.

One more question.. for the 45 minutes of free time did they drop you off near the Casino or was the free time near the palace up on the hill?

Also.. if we decided to forgo the tour and just do our own thing where did the bus pick you up to take you back to the ship?

I'm a shopper and have my sights set on something that I want to buy during our Monaco visit.  I thought originally that the ship would dock in Monaco which would make it very easy but now I have to do a little more planning.

    Thanks for your help!

We were left at the palace up on the hill.  The bus picked us up in a parking garage beside the aquarium.

  12. We also just returned from the Western Med cruise on October 12.  We did the included shore excursion to Monte Carlo.  The bus took us from Villefranche sur mer to Monaco.  The bus ride was very enjoyable because you see a lot of the beautiful coastline along the way.  We did have some free time to wander around on our own.  It was not very long though.  I think it was only about 45 minutes.  On another interesting note when we were leaving the parking lot on our bus the tour guide pointed to a number of buses sitting there.  She told us they were still waiting for over an hour for the police to come on the buses to check their documents.  The tour guide said it was a good thing that we were on a Viking excursion because the Monaco officials know that Viking has already taken care of the entry requirements.  No police checked our bus.  The driver also took a different road back to Villefranche sur mer so that we got to see another perspective of the coastline on the way back.

  13. We booked the Oct 10, 2022 Italy Intensive cruise with the 60% off second passenger sale.  The next day (September 1) the sale ended and the new sale of 20% off plus $1000 OBC started.  With the new sale the price of our cruise went up around $1000 but the OBC of $1000 made it basically the same price.  I just checked the price of our cruise again yesterday and it seems the price is now less than the sale price with 60% off. It is actually $760 less and on top of that I would get $1000 OBC.  Do the prices change often?  Should I have my travel agent rebook our cruise with the new price?  Thanks for you advice.

  14. We are really hoping that our cruise goes ahead on February 19, 2022.  It will be our first cruise to the South Pacific and first time on Paul Gaugin.  I have read online that the weather can be rainy in February but it will still be much better than snow!  We live near Ottawa Ontario.

  15. I just saw on the Paul Gauguin website that they have updated the pictures of the staterooms to show the new décor. It looks good.  We are scheduled to go on February 19, 2022.  Coming from Canada.  Hopefully by our departure date it will be easier to get there.
