  1. We do not as it does not have the coverage we need, like pre-existing conditions.

I usually buy Carnival, but recently found out I have to have a pacemaker before our next cruise. I'm on the hunt for a coverage that includes pre-existing conditions. Any recommendations?

  2. How dedicated to running/walking is the track on deck 5? On a few other ships, I tried the track but constantly having to dodge people standing there for pictures, walking 5 deep, or just pausing to take on the scene made it not worth the hassle. I just prefer to run outside than on a treadmill :)

  3. I've never been to the spa on board before but think I'm gonna splurge this time :) does anybody know if they ever offer specials on couples massages on port days? And do you tip after your service (I'm assuming in cash) or at the end of the cruise?

  4. Thanks for posting! I've heard mixed reviews about this port area - some say if you're not doing an excursion, to not even bother getting off the ship as it's just a joke in the guarded area.

Do you happen to recall what types of restaurants they were? Like...little shacks to buy a snack, or were there actual bar/restaurants? We're looking for a place to try some of the local beers and maybe grab a bite to eat since our excursion we wanted was cancelled.

  5. Ugh! I just went to Carnival's website to book this excursion for our upcoming sailing, and it's gone :(....looks like it's been removed. I'll check back in a couple days to be safe, but such a bummer, I was really looking forward to this excursion.

  6. This will be our first time in Costa Maya, and we are trying to decide if we want to book a Carnival Excursion or just get off and hang around port.

Can any of you that have been here before describe to me what the port is like? Shopping? Bars? Pool? Beach? How far do we need to walk to do or see something? Any suggestions on what to visit? Where to eat? What to drink?

Basically...any info you're willing to share would very much be appreciated!!

  7. Interesting. I'm on the Carnival Dream in February and this excursion was recently added a few weeks ago. It's still showing up as an option, so I think we're going to book it. I was also trying to find information from anybody who's attempted to do this one on their own and/or with a cruise line but wasn't able to get information.

I posted a question on this forum a few weeks ago, and one person responded that they had tried to receive more information, but so far as they could tell, this brewery does not offer showings to the public anymore, the only way to go is via a cruise line. I'm not sure where he/she received that information to confirm it, however.

  8. You might get a better/faster response if you post your question in the Family Cruises section. I used the baby sitting service in July onboard the Dream in July for my 18 month old, though we never got off the ship without her. It was something like $6/hr and they gave you a phone you had to keep with you at all times. I do remember there being a rule for the kids under 2, we had to pick her up by a certain time and it was early, like we had 2 hours of alone time as they only let the little ones come when there are no scheduled activities in the kids area. I am not sure if that's the case in Port days or not as I mentioned we did not use the service those days. I also didn't use the service at night, just in the mornings.

  9. On our last cruise, we booked two adjoining rooms, my DH and I were in one, and my three DD's were in the other, ages 10, 7 and 18 months at the time. We just propped the doors open in the middle and enjoyed all that extra space and the extra bathroom. We didn't have to use the baby monitor we brought with because we were able to leave those doors open.

  10. I was on the Victory in July and loved it. This ship, though older, is gorgeous. Yes, it has a little wear and tear, but only if you're looking for it. The cruise will be what you make of it, and The Victory will just help it be that much more awesome :)

  11. I loved this ship. The Atrium was beautiful and one of our favorite places to hang out. The decor was beautiful, ornate but not over the top. When the main pool area got too crowded, I always went and grabbed a slice of pizza and hung out by the quieter pool. In July she still had the old souvenir glasses for the DOD. Wonderful ship!

  12. Don't panic, if you need a crib, you will have a crib. We travelled with our daughter in July who was 18 months and when we arrived in the room, no crib. We asked our room steward and he brought it right away...then we discovered the crib was too small for her so we moved on to plan B. Our steward turned the couch around so it was like a bed/crib she couldn't fall out of and actually was much better and safer for her. But, whatever you need, they will help you with for sure. I don't know that I've ever heard of a crib shortage on board, they just can't "guarantee" one.

  13. If you are in the Ionian Cigar bar, obviously there is a "bar" there, but it does not feel like one at all, that area is actually quite gorgeous.

We were married in the Adriatic Sea Lounge which is one of the smaller show lounges, like where the comedians perform, so when I walked down the aisle I had to step up one or two stairs to be on a stage. I think there were 20 of is total and even though it's a big room, it was arranged to feel intimate and it was kind of cool being on a stage.

  14. I was married on this ship this year and will happily answer any of your questions. Just let me know! We loved every single moment of it, start to finish. We were supposed to be married in the cigar lounge but that day found out they moved us to one of the lounges, which was fine with me, I was just happy to be there, lol. We did the 1.5 hour reception with Dj in the night club - just the right amount of time for our couple non-sailing guests to enjoy themselves. The food was amazing, the cake was outstanding, the drinks were flowing.

We didn't rent tuxes on the ship. We traveled with his suit, my dress, and three little girl dresses. My dress was a tiny bit wrinkled but nobody noticed except me. His suit was perfect and it was nice to have as he just wore it again on Elegant night with a different shirt.

You can bring some of your own decorations if you wish, I opted not to because I didn't want the hassle. What they provided in the ceremony was just fine to me, and honestly the rest of the ship provides the back drop for your pictures and theme. But, that option is totally there of you want it!

  15. Hi there - we will be visiting Belize on our upcoming cruise - my DH and his friend both love visiting breweries and sampling different beers, so I thought this might be right up there alley for one of our excursions. Has anybody done this one recently?? Wondering if it is worth it...I know that the beers are available draft in port...it's more so the experience I guess. Thanks!

  16. We were married on the Victory in July this year and absolutely LOVED this ship. It never really seemed crowded to me, except maybe the first day, but that's to be expected as folks are still trying to figure out the flow. I loved the layout of the chairs by the main pool, always plenty of room and action. I never made it to Serenity as we had our young kids with us, but I peeked in and it was calling my name, lol. We didn't like our dining room staff, but everyone else we ran into loved theirs so ours was just bad luck. The food was always good, room service was timely and efficient, and the staff we encountered always, always had a smile and hello for us. By far one of my most favorite vacations! I just really enjoyed this ship and the Sea theme...very beautiful even if it is showing it's age a little bit here and there. I am still in awe at how hard the staff worked day and night keeping this ship gleaming. It's a beauty!

If you have any questions let me know, I researched the heck out of her before we left, and took a billion and one pictures while we were on her. :)

  17. Thank you so much for your informative review! Can't wait to read the rest. I agree with you- there is no info out there for us cruise brides! You and your daughter looked beautiful btw!! :)

Thanks for the feedback! Writing a review takes a TON of work and now I appreciate the ones I have read in the past a lot more. I am still working on the wedding part and have a ton more pictures to post....I've just kind of lost my thunder with the lack of interest in what I've wrote so far :( this board isn't like the others when you post a review and get a ton of questions and encouragement, that's for sure. Just a bummer...but I will get there!
