Seville is a VERY long day from Cadiz with minimal sightseeing time in a city which merits a stay of a few days.  You don't give the ages of your kids, but would they be able to cope with that?

There have been multiple past threads where visitors have debated whether to stay in Cadiz or make a long day of it visiting Seville. Cadiz itself has much to offer and ships dock in the centre making it easy to sightsee independently. Visitors are often surprised at how much they enjoyed their time there.Read some past threads to help you decide. Choose from these:

Thank you for the info, the kids can handle. We travel a lot and they are used to long days on trains in Europe. Ideally I was thinking a private tour guide with transportion. That would be ideal. Kids will be 10, 7 and 3 at the time of the trip. We spent a month in Europe last year traveling around.

We have 11 hours in port from 8 am to 7 pm.

  2. Before the advent of the key card/sea pass system, how did you get into your room? Were keys issued at check in? Also how did the on board charging work? Did you use cash or some other system?

See attached image. I remember my first cruise had a key like that. Also remember a few cruises with a rectangular key with a bunch of small holes in different patterns for different cabins.

As far as charges, all paper receipts. You'd come back to your cabin with a bunch of paper.

  3. Thanks for the feedback! Our cruise arrived at 7 am and departed at 9pm. We were back on the boat by 6. I didn't worry very much because my backup plan was worse case scenario we pay for a taxi to take us directly back to the ship if we had any issues. Issues like missing a train or a cancelled train or something unexpected. The back up plan would have been expensive but it was my option for a worse case scenario.

If you plan, buy tickets in advance and depending on how much time you have in port you should be fine! We didn't feel rushed but buying tickets in advance was a much. The line to get in to the Colosseum was hours for day of and we got in within 15 minutes with our tickets.

Let me know if you have any questions. Have fun! ;)

Love the video! We'll be in Rome next April on the Horizon and we want to see the Vatican (St. Peter's Square) & the Coliseum (we'll also buy tickets in advance). How long did it take you guys to do all this? We also want to see Trevi fountain before we head back and need to make sure we allot enough time. Did you worry at all about not having enough time to make it back on the train? We're stuck with doing this on our own or doing the Rome on you own excursion.
  4. Sorry for late reply, it was on the Carnival Miracle a few months ago.

Could be Carnival or it could be RCCL as the decor varies a bit but looks like Carnival. You are right the layout is essentially the same although the balcony is slightly larger than the inside or ocean view cabins. I have visited the suites when people stayed in them more room inside and have seen one with a walk in closet and the bathrooms have a bath and shower. Balcony at least via Carnival has the sitting couch area and a bigger vanity area that you don't get with the inside cabins and I have done both inside and balcony but its just myself usually in the cabin as opposed to 3 people so it makes a difference.

My final guess will be Carnival if not its RCCL

  5. I finally got around to editing our day in Rome a few years ago.

Doing Rome on your own is definitely possible as long as you plan ahead. We purchased our Colosseum and Vatican tickets in advance. There's no way we could have done this in one day without planning ahead.

Here's our video, happy to answer any questions if you have them. :)

  6. We love cruising! On our last cruise I asked our cabin steward if I could walk in to a couple of the vacated suites on the last morning of our cruise. As you will see at the end of this video I went in and viewed a couple corner suites with very nice balconies.

Is a suite worth it? Personally I think a regular balcony cabin is all you need. I have had a suite and don't think it is worth the premium but it's personal preference and if you have the $$$ then go for it.

Also it's interesting that the old ships (SS France / Norway ship) had regular cabins that were like having a small suite on a new ship today. :)

  7. We did a partial transit Panama Canal cruise from Ft Lauderdale through the Gatun Locks a couple years ago. I never edited the video until recently.

I posted the last video incorrectly but now figured out how to do it correctly. :)

Wanted to share our experience. We really enjoyed the cruise.

Other stops on our cruise included the following. Also made a couple videos of those stops as well.

    Aruba

    Cartagena

    Panama Canal - Gatun

    Colon (not very exciting)

Limon Really enjoyed our tour, we went zip lining

    Grand Cayman

  8. Appreciate this nice and creative video. Really liked the time-elapse video technique that was used on the beach. Made that segment very interesting.

Starting to plan and prepare for an early 2017, 15-day cruise doing the Panama Canal, Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco sailing. This would be our first time BOTH for using Princess and to be visiting Columbia, Panama Canal, Central America, Mexico, etc. Liking to be soaking up all of the many options for Cabo.

    THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

  9. Posting this again because my YouTube video was showing an error and I could not edit that post.

We just completed a Mexican Riviera Cruise with a stop in Cabo San Lucas. We love Cabo and have been a few times.

Our day consisted of some amazing local Seafood at a restaurant. Super cheap, you usually only see locals there. Then we spent the afternoon at Mango Deck Beach club. We have a 2 year old and always have fun there. They'll give you a lounge chair for spending $20 per chair. With a few drinks that's pretty easy to do. Not this video but another one from our trip in May we took a glass bottom boat to the Arch for $7 a person. After our day at the beach we took a water taxi back to the pier to catch the tender back to the ship. Great day and Mango Deck is so much fun! :-D

  10. Had a hard time finding this thread for the Jubilee, I don't know why I find the history of old ships so interesting. When I see them beach and being scrapped on some beach in India I can't help but think of all the history.

The Jubilee was my 3rd cruise ship and at the time was one of the nicest ships in the ocean. Just saw that this ship is up for sale. :(

  12. Just wondering if any of you have been to Mango Deck, likely the wildest bar on the beach but super fun. We were there a month ago on a regular vacation in Cabo and will be heading back in September on a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise. I really like it and we were there with our 2 year old. Also The Office is right next door and they will take you on a tour of Los Arcos for about $7 a person but those tour boats are everywhere. My only suggestion on those boats is to deal directly with the driver. Those guys will pay a few bucks to the guys on the beach selling their services.

This was our day at Mango Deck, sorry for the poor video title but later on I talk about my wife being pregnant with our 2nd video.

    Anyways, happy cruising. :D

  13. Glad that you cancelled but I am going to live this post up anyway.

What are you guys thinking of. I am sure that your wife is doing all the things that women do today to ensure that their child is born healthy. They you are thinking of this.

Sure the chances of her getting sick are slim but they are not zero. Will you be able to live with knowing that you made a really dumb mistake for the rest of your life and also the rest of your child's life.

Cancel. Your proposed destination will always be there.

    DON

Totally agree, we just had not heard much until our visit to the doctor on Wednesday. I was following Zika in the news and had heard about Brazil, etc but when we mentioned our Caribbean cruise to our Doctor with a stop in St Maarten and San Juan our Doctor was quick to say wait wait wait one second!

We have cancelled and will work on something else. :)
