I'm doing the math of what you described and I don't understand how you got to $160pp. Is that with drinks and food? The trip itself sounds like it's $82pp r/t.
Thanks for explaining how to do it.
My mistake, it was just over $160 total to get there and back.

By happenstance, there was 10-12 of us from our cruise that did this. We did not meet each other until either sharing a taxi or getting on the ferry. Once there we kinda kept an eye out for each other so nobody got left behind. We all did our own thing.
To be honest, while planning this I was stressing about getting back to ship on time (we packed a change of clothes/passports and port agent’s phone number, etc…). But after the fact, I am so glad we did it this way. It was cheaper, longer and had more freedom.

We just booked Viva in December and I see nothing to JVD on the NCL excursions. I was hoping to hear of something more contained than 2 taxis and a ferry each way. But, may be looking for your experiences after you get back in October if you actually do this.
WE DID IT!!!

This is EXACTLY what we did and had time to spare.
We arrived in Tortola at 11:40 am (scheduled 12:00 to 8:00). We headed straight to the taxi stand and got a taxi to West End for $16pp. The ride was about 25 minutes. Bought ferry tickets for $40pp R/T for the 1:00 pm ferry. We got to JVD in less than 15 minutes. Depends on the waves. After that, we got on an open air truck to get to Soggy Dollar Bar for $5pp one way. About a 7 minute ride.
We were on the beach until 4:45pm when we got back on the open air truck to get back in time for the 5:00pm ferry and taxi from West End back to the ship. We were back on the ship by 6:15pm.
$160pp for 3 3/4hrs on the beach at White Bay/Soggy. It was a good day!

My wife and I are on the AOS next Saturday. We’d really appreciate it if you would share the prices of the independent tour operators (especially to JVD). Our shore excursion to JVD we booked through RCI was cancelled.
I’m stressing about taking a taxi to the West End, ferry and taxi to Soggy Dollar and then the opposite to get back to the ship.
Cheers and Thank You in advance.

Whatever happened to Muzik Xpress? We saw them on the Allure and Symphony and really enjoyed them. Haven’t heard anyone mentioning them since the startup after Covid.

I've gone to JVD twice but only one time from Tortola. I booked the excursion offered by the ship.

My wife and I are on the Indy in October and looking for any suggestions to getting to JVD and maximizing our time there. We are docked in Tortola from noon-8pm.
Looking forward to seeing where Chesney shot some of his videos.

My wife and I are on the AOS the last week of October. I know it’s an older ship and not on RCI priority list. We’re looking for recent passenger’s reviews and cruise compass/entertainment schedules. We picked this cruise because of the ports ( Tortola, taking a ferry to Jost Van Dyke and St. Croix), not the usual Eastern Caribbean route.

Does Port Everglades enforce check in times?

We’re planning for our 5 night cruise and was wondering how many formal nights?

My DW and I sailing on the Brilliance in February. Approximately what time does the ship sail under the Skyway Bridge?

Harmony is due there tomorrow.
I googled this and learned that this is a “test” to see where they are at on supporting ships.

We are going on 5-night cruise on the Jewel of the Seas, originally calling on Key West and Labadee.
I received an email from RCCL today informing us that they have substituted Nassau for Key West. Labadee is still on the itinerary This makes no sense whatsoever. I realize that they can change itineraries at will and I fully expected a change, but not this. Key West is open and safe. Last I heard Labadee was taken over by local gangs.

On the Mariner last month, after watching a crew member demonstrate how to put a life preserver on they gave us green sticker to put on our sea pass card.

My wife and I are going on our second NCL cruise in August and are wondering how fast the the embarkation process is. On our last RCI cruise last year, it took 20 minutes from dropping off our luggage, parking and checking in to boarding the ship. Is NCL comparable? Thanks in advance.

Just got off of Symphony today and according to the tv, the last number is called at 9:15. FYI, they tell you that your luggage won’t be ready for pick up until your number is a lie. We walked off with our luggage around 8am and saw every numbered area was full.

Is it possible to visit JVD when docked at St. Thomas?

Thank you for the info. Will definitely hire a guide.

What is the current price for four adults to get to and from Coconuts compared to an all day guide? We are on the Rhapsody of the Seas.

My wife and I are doing this cruise in a October. Regarding the drink package, is it still good for drinks up to $12.00 or did rccl change their policy? Thanks in advance.

We stayed at that Homewood Suites as well. Very nice, new hotel. Booked a pre-cruise room for our June Oasis cruise as well.
Does this hotel offer parking while you are on your cruise and if so, how much?
-
Is the boarding process similar to getting on a plane...empty your pockets, take off your belt and walking through a metal detector?
-
How does the servers/bartenders know you have the drink package? By a sticker on your card (Carnival soda package) or do they swipe your card and it comes up on the screen?
Sorry if this has been asked 100's of times.
Looking for ANY tips or suggestions. Tortola to Jost Van Dyke.
