  1. I feel like I have looked through everything, but I must be missing it ... Is there a way to see what type of fare/promotion you booked your cruise with (Early Saver, Casino promo, etc)? I honestly don’t remember what I chose when I booked it, as it was late at night... 😂🤓🤪😴

(Possibly needed details... Booked cruise on my own via Carnival.com, use the app and online browser, less than 90 days til cruise, Family Harbor cabin)

    Thank you!

  2. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

As much fun as another 1-2h on a bus sounds.... LOL I think we will Uber it! I have a travel (inflatable booster) that we take on trips like this, so I can just throw that on my backpack.

Since it's a super short trip (and we're minimalists), I will only have a carry-on size backpack for us. His clothes are small and I'm just packing dresses for me (pregnant! haha) I'm not an overpacker by any means. He'd be fine on the bus, as he's pretty experienced with traveling by various means, but... I just don't want to spend that much time on a bus after being on the train.

  3. Since it's just my 5 y/o son and me going on this trip, I decided that it would be 'fun' for him to experience the AMTRAK train (plus, I am pregnant and it means instead of driving from AZ, I can get up and move/use the restroom as needed).

We arrive to Union Station in LA around 830-900'ish on Monday morning, which is the day of our departure. I am planning on having minimal luggage -- hopefully, just a backpack for each of us since it's only a 4 day cruise.

I know I could Uber it to Long Beach. Are there any other "fun" options for him to experience from there to LB?

    Thank you!!

  4. I have a 5 year old who travels frequently with me. For the past couple of years, whenever we've cruised and/or taken short trips that didn't involve many long car rides, I've taken his BubbleBum Inflatable Booster ($28 on Amazon). It's GREAT!! I can deflate and roll it up to fit into my backpack, so that any time we may need it, it's there. He's used it in Taxis in Mexico/Central America, shuttles, etc. Definitely beats hauling a hard booster or car seat.

  5. Thanks for the advice.

I agree -- the drink or dinner packages is REALLY nice, IF I were traveling with a sig ot or friends.

As, much as my little guy does eat (and he's not happy with a kid's menu...he wants "real" food), I think I might just take him to the teppenyaki for din one night. Not too mention, half my insides have been removed and I can't even eat much (essentially, life in hell, for a foodie such as myself).

I was super excited for the cheap fare and equally cheap last min airfare. :)

  6. This is my first NCL cruise. I'm traveling with my 3.5 y/o son (so just the two of us). Today I booked us on the Norwegian Jewel for the 7 day on Feb 28 out of Houston. I did the Inside Guarantee IX for $239pp, with the total after taxes and everything was $779.28. I received $25 OBC. (so 22d out from the sailing)

It was a last minute cruise decision and, honestly, I enjoy the dark of an interior. However, I'd be willing to upgrade up to something else if the price was right.

What should I do? Keep the cheapie fare and enjoy it? Call (when??) to see about an upgrade?

    I appreciate the help.

  7. Thanks for the quick response! I'm not concerned about being guaranteed catching something -- I'm a GA girl and know all about spending days out in the sun and never even getting a bite :D Although, to catch out in the ocean is a thrill.... so that would be nice!

Also, thanks for the advice about not booking on the pier... Although that's not my style (I like to research and book ahead of time), it's great and sound advice!! Could be a bit of a hairy situation...

I'll hit the TA forums, as well!

  8. Wow this is too funny. I have a cousin that plays football for the North Augusta Yellow Jackets and his dad was telling me how well he played in their playoff game against Laurens. Now I find your post and wow...weird. I've seen my cousin play and I wish you a safe and happy cruise because you'll be going in 8 days.:D Gooooo yellow Jackets.

Small world... I'm a former NA Yellow Jacket! ;) GO NAHS!

  9. If he's good with the carrier, I would bring that. They can flip over the high chair and rest the carrier on it. I used a seat that attached at a table, but only after he was sitting on his own (like this: http://www.target.com/p/inglesina-fast-table-chair-ibisco-red/-/A-13960175?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=|13960175&CPNG=Baby&kpid=13960175&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=13960175&gclid=CIeVgPqk3boCFU7ZQgod52kA1g)

If you can, you might try a SpaceSaver high chair. They actually attach to the dining room chair and can recline a bit. I would try it out with him first at home to make sure he can sit well in it, though. http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Space-Saver-Chair-Scatterbug/dp/B002OOWAK8
