I do not like paying for two whole people to travel solo but what is worse is when they charge you more than two people for the trip. Was told they think they are losing on the second persons upcharges such as spas and excursions but I do not do any of that. Paying for two whole people keeps me from spending that money on those type things.

Losing your table when you go get a refill in the buffet. Left hats, bags and much of the time come back to find them sitting on floor with other cruisers taking my table.
For those saying eating alone, realize no one is looking at you while eating, drinking, sunning, etc. Just do your thing and enjoy your trip.

That's what I assumed but you know never to assume. Thanks.

Someone please explain in slow English but if I am Emerald on RCCL, I get the benefits of Select on CCL. But if I book a CCL cruise it does not add to my points to move up to Diamond on RCCL. Even though they are the same group. So if I am getting close to Diamond, I should just stay with RCCL. That sound right? Thanks in advance.

Was on Explorer last. Ship held 4000 passengers and had 5 coke machines I think? Only two were located outside the Windjammer, best of my memory. Was surprised how available the machines were, never had to wait for more than two people. Having said that, I dont see why there arent a few more of these machines around. Didnt use it much but as I sat across from them at the pub, there were often long lines waiting to get access to them.

16 is not an adult. The minimum age in the solarium should be 18, preferably 21. Those under 18 have their own pool area which adults are not allowed in. Families want to hang together, there is a main pool area for them.

They were 2012 and 2013. So maybe I missed the double point date start. I gave the dates on the posts to RCCL so guess they should have known they may not apply? But thanks for the response, now if they say no I wont be upset/surprised. Thanks.

Have tried RCCL CAS website and facebook. At least Cheyenne on RCCL FB said she would get back to me. So was hoping I could get some feedback for those that have been through this. I didnt know I could get double points for cruising solo when I paid for double occupancy. Never applied for this and my cruises were years ago. But since points do not expire, shouldnt they give me my points? Does anyone know who I should contact that can actually make a decision on this? Thanks in advance.

I usually do not make it any farther than the Schooner Bar.

@anthony, hate that we pay double for solo trips too but it is still a good deal. At my age I stay at better hotels and eat better food so per day I think I still come out ahead than some land based trip. And no changing hotels. Norwegian has solo cabins with no double supplement prices but have not tried them yet.

My last cruise was for 10 days so an older crowd. I cannot remember more than 6 or 8 in the champagne bar even when the rest were full. Think the champagne bars are on their way out.

Overall, Carnival is too young (partying) a crowd. Cunard is too old a crowd.
Norwegian will be an option but just like the feeling of the other cruisers on Royal.

Inside is good if you sleep in. When I want to see water I leave the room.

Was nice using the lounge but I always seemed more at home in the Schooner bar. The other bar flies just seem to be more laid back and friendly.

Thanks everyone.
Nothing stays the same but will go back to cruising soon. I agree its still the way to go.

Had to stop cruising for a while due to work changes. Came to read and catch up on RCCL and some of the posts and comments are not painting a great picture of Royal. Sure some are sour grapes but has the quality dropped that much in two years?

Even when I had someone with me, I often did things alone. They want to sleep or tan instead of go walkabout. So used to doing things on my own. You would be surprised how little people notice you so dont be concerned others are watching what you are doing. Just enjoy.

The freedom of solo cruises is great. Wake, sleep, eat, excursions, etc on your schedule and your wants is so nice. If you go to a bar, a trivia game and just say hi to your neighbor, most times you will get a response and possibly a lot of new info or insight.
