  1. We will be docking in Kahului … I just booked a helicopter tour so need options to get us from the port to Kahului Heliport and back

How common are lyft/uber in the area?  What about taxis at the port?  Should we schedule ahead with someone or just wing it?

appreciate your insights as I figure this out

  2. Booked on HAL Volendam for their 42 day Atlantic adventure in 2024.  Researching Italy and options for shore excursions…. Not yet thrilled with options by HAL but those just getting loaded… so researching on our own….

i found lots of recommendations for Rome in Limo in the port forum… researching I found Sage Travel who specializes in disabled travel but searching here on cruise critic I can’t find much….

trying to get thoughts on Sage primarily but any comments on either or Italy is appreciated.  Depending on the day hubby uses a cane, walker, scooter.  He can do stairs just can’t walk

And yes I know about the cobblestones

    appreciate your inputs and experiences

If I remember correctly, I gave each one $50.00 for the 7 days. I never left the ship while in port so I was at the Retreat usually from 10AM to 3:30PM  every day.  They took our lunch orders and would get you anything you wanted from any open food place including the Grand Dutch Cafe (Konigsdam).

Ohhhh nice to know as I adore my espresso and doing a cabana in January!  And k tip a bit extra to those helpful

  4. Have a couple of cruises booked in 2023.  Just added the have it all to them….

so I’m curious do you have a fav drink onboard?  Looking for both boozie ones and not….

it’s been a bit since I’ve been back on HAL… as a example I adore the virgin blended mojitos on RCCL….

first up is our cruise to hawaii…. Then later in the year a sort of B2B (different ships separated by a day) first thru the Panama Canal… the Alaska!  I’m excited for what 2023 has in store for me!

NB: The 'Art Museum" they describe in this tour is specific to the Mission collection only, and not the downtown Santa Barbara Art Museum -which is currently running the very popular Van Gogh exhibit (online reservations necessary - for crowd control)

Thanks for commenting on that…. Be back in the area post cruise.   Hubby might like to see that if tickets available during our visit

  6. We will be there April 5th via the koningsdam… hubby and I decided to book The Old Mission & A Ride through Santa Barbara History… here is the HAL description…

    Top 3 Reasons To Book

    • A drive through Santa Barbara; oceanfront wine tasting
    • The Old Mission with special skip-the-line priority access
    • An on-site Museum of Art & Artifacts; touring the grounds

Your guide for this insider's tour comes from a family of civic leaders and is the recipient of a Community Hero Award. (S)he has in-depth knowledge of the local culture, history and events -- ideal for your Santa Barbara ride through history. Enjoy a dockside greeting by a Spanish-costumed guide while songs of early California play in the background.

As you travel, you’ll learn why Santa Barbara is called the American Riviera, where its architecture hails from, and which hot spots are in the Funk Zone.

You will visit the Old Mission with special skip-the-line priority access. Tour the interior and grounds with a friendly and very knowledgeable Mission docent. Note the magnificent architecture of the church façade and convent and step inside to take in the breathtaking church interior. Colonial-era art and sculptures are on display, and this is the only California mission church with a crypt under the sanctuary. Franciscan friars and early settlers are interred here.

The on-site Museum of Art & Artifacts includes a nine-room museum of historical artwork and artifacts, multiple lush gardens, and an acclaimed exhibit of the Lone Woman of San Nicolas Island, the inspiration for the very popular book Island of the Blue Dolphins.

Your very special visit includes the Della Robbia glazed terracotta tableau Madonna & Saints shrine and the opportunity to meet a Franciscan friar.

On the grounds, check out the cemetery and mausoleum. A downloadable Mission Santa Barbara Exterior Walk app allows you to take home a digital tour, now available in 5 languages. You’ll also receive a gift of other Santa Barbara virtual tours to enjoy on your cruise or at home while you plan your return visit.

As you return to the ship by way of a panoramic drive, watch for some landmarks of Santa Barbara -- the Court House, the Presidio and the historic Theatre District.

NOTE: While description says wine tasting HAL sent us a note that it’s not being offered on our excursion… no reason given…
