  1. We were on the Dream in November and in a similar location . We did notice some noise from the casino and bar below .However it must not have been that bad as were in cabin 6322 just down the hall from you on the Liberty in February . Just grab some foam ear plugs just in case . My guess is you'll hear more noise from the corridors than the deck below . :)

  2. First you need to make sure you are matching the exact cabin category. Not just the type. So for example if you have a 8B cabin, you need to see if there are still open and unbooked 8Bs left on your sailing. And also remember the capacity must match. So if you have a double 8B booked and you go online and see another double 8B open and the price is lower, you are entitled to that difference. You can price match any rate other than a guarantee. Are you sure you booked ES? Is it still before final payment date?

It was the cabin right next door the one i have booked but final payment has passed and the rep confirmed I booked ES . I guess it has something to do with the fact final payment had passed ? But if thats the case why did she tell me i could rebook a GRTY and i would get 179 onboard credit?

  3. I think im missing something here . I understand the part about you cant price match to a GRTY rate but what Carnival is doing ( just did to me ) is a different issue . So I booked at ES rate . I went online and did a mock booking where I selected my own cabin and it was 100 bucks cheaper . I was denied by email AND a call in because the rate online was not ES . I have no idea what any of this means so to say some people dont understand is a bit of an understatement .

  4. I would have gone over and congratulated them for choosing a habit that is neither bad for their health or mine . Seriously though , sure its still against Carnival rules but I don't work for Carnival so not my place to remind people of that fact unless it affects me in some way . Your on a cruise why sweat the little stuff ?

  5. I am not saying there are not inconsiderate peeps out there for LETTING the door slam continuously , but the doors are not being "slammed " . Its the door closer that does this without any help .

I know I for one have allowed the door to slam on accident . I cringe when this happens because i remembered just a tad bit to late .

Anyone else ever "pucker up " when you know its going to happen and you cant catch it in time ?

  6. Not sure why some are making up this shared tips lie. Tips designated for your dining room and steward staff go 100% to those individuals. That's $5.80 daily per person to the dinning team, and $3.70 daily per person to your steward. Augmenting or simply paying cash also goes 100% to said individuals.

Again, tipping is intended to reward individuals that are assigned to you, and have direct contact with.

Your completely missing the point of this post . Auto tips were not even part of the original discussion . The OP was curious about the extra money they gave directly to the staff and why they turned it over to the head waiter .

And John may have addressed it "many" times before but I bet all the answers were kinda sorta maybe dancing just like the one posted in an earlier quote .

Im just as curious as the OP if the EXTRA tip I handed to a staff member isgoing to THAT staff member ?

  7. If some table guest have removed auto Grats or other guests the same team serves has removed auto Grats then "all additional tips" are pooled until auto grat amount has been reached for the entire ship!

If auto Grats are reached the extra money is distributed to each staff member who received the extra. and that extra is officially documented by team leaders.

If auto Grats are not reached any extra given just stays in the pool to be distributed by an auto Grat %.

This is a fair system as although extra tippers may well be compensating the stiffers it would be unfair that some staff and teams receive less than others just because some people decide not to tip at all!

The service expected by the company from waitstaff is excellent so Auto Grat stiffers are rewarding excellence with penalising all staff!

This is why the cruise lines introduced Auto Grats, to make it fair to all staff.

Over exceptional individual staff and teams are rewarded by the cruiseline on comments and scores left by customers.

With YTD MYD ATD many cruise lines have non removable Auto Grats that must be added at time of booking for the same fair distribution reasons, same as the Grats are added in the price of speciality dinning!

It is a "code of conduct" issue if extra tips are not declared because the company needs to achieve maximum Auto grats for correct fair distribution!

Auto Grats are Grats Auto tips are Tips cash tips are Tips, all one and the same thing to staff and cruiseline.:)

This is where I just dont agree . I am not responsible nor can I do anything about "stiffers" . If I had good service and wish to tip someone extra its because they gave me good service , not to help make up for other passengers who choose not to tip for whatever reason . Dont tell me how my money should be spent !

  8. It must be in your carry on luggage.

    Bob

This is a bit misleading . You dont have to actually have the sodas and water IN a carry on . We put ours on top of our rolling carry on's and just roll it in .

P.S. Not to say it might easier for you to have it in a carry on . :)
