IMHO there should be lines with stantions and rope that can accommodate scooters, and scooter/wheelchair users should wait their turn like everyone else for elevators, buses, etc. If there is no room for the scooter and it is next in line, no one gets on at that stop. They should not automatically get priority boarding. The only exception is children on Wish trips.
Seriously? The reason we are loaded first is it is easier for the bus drivers They need the space for us to get situated. I sure hope you are not a troll. I would MUCH rather have the ability to walk on my own then have ti use my wheelchair.I sure hoe you are never in the position to have to use a wheelchair or scooter!!!!

Alot of these tips seem outdated. I am traveling on November. Can anyone give me some updated tips???

Hi all! I have been perusing this thread for awhile. I am 290 and permanently in a wheelchair due to being hit by a car 4.5 years ago. I will be traveling with my caregiver and my power chair as well as wheel chair. Disney offers an accessible tor in St. Thomas but I might not want to do that. Has anyone found any accessible tours on their own in St. Thomas? Thanks!

Wow-this has been an interesting read. I am in a power chair, sailing on the Disney Fantasy in November. I will have to be aware of the crazies, and make sure I am kind and courteous. I have dealt with scooters at Disneyland and it's so not fun to deal with crowds. We are out of people's aiteline and many times people just don't see us. I need to get a Megahorn, like Ty uses on EMHE. That will make me be heard! LOL

I am interested in anything you can tell me accessibiity-wise for tours and visiting the towns of San Juan, Puerto Rico; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.
Thank-you very much in advance.:)
I am going on Bernard's tours in St. Maarten. I am using a manual wheelchair though. http://www.bernardstours.com/

I didn't realize you had bought the seat and brought it aboard with you.
That is so childish!

As someone that must have an accessible cabin to cruise ( I am an amputee) Miss Rabbit has as much right to one as I do...anyone that really 'needs' an accessible cabin for whatever reason should have one if the itinerary, ship and cost meets their needs. They will have to book as early as I do for the cruse because there are so few cabins that meet our needs. I often find that the cruise I want has no accessilbe cabins even one year in advance.
Who are we to judge.
Exactly! :D:D:D

thereby possibly preventing someone with a real disability from using the hc cabin. Seriously....only book a cruise that has a cabin with a toilet you're capable of using. Don't book a hc cabin just because you can't find another one you can fit into. Find another cruise. Seriously!
wrong on so many levels!!!

Just a note, if you aren't disabled please don't book an accessible cabin as they are the only cabins that those passengers in wheelchairs can use....and believe me they are hard to get! :)
As a person who is obese AND in a wheelchair, I will highly disagree with you on this. There are many types of disabilities that require a hca room. Let the cruiselines do their job to screen who asks for a Hca room!

I hate the seats being tipped back on planes also! I am a large person, but even if I wasn't, I don't think airline seats should be able to recline. There is so little space as it is, that the recline position should no longer be an option on planes. It does not go back far enough to really make any difference in someone's comfort who is in the reclining seat, and really makes those behind it so uncomfortable!
I had this happen on an 11 hour flight to Amsterdam. I needed to get up to to to the bathroom and the jerk wouldn't move. I don't like to be confrontational but I also don't want to have an "accident", so I just shoved his seat up and to get up and before I could even stand, he jumped up and went whining to the flight attendants. Obviously they were on my side and made him sit back down. My friends sitting next to me moved to different seats so I would not have to deal with him, thank goodness!
How do you deal with rude people?

Well said!! We do have to face these challenged every day and we try to stay positive but sometimes the pain, discomfort and illness gets us down and we become grouchy. Have a wonderful cruise! Where are you going and which line? I leave on November 30th on Disney Fantasy, So excited!!!
