  1. I would like to know this as well? Does anyone know or know where I could find the answer? I've tried google and came up short. I've tried the search feature on this board and came up short.

    Anyone???

  2. Was on the Gem last month and spa hours were 8AM to 10PM, except for the last night of the cruise - they closed at 8PM (thought I was going to cry when they told me they were closing early - lol).

I was there every morning from 8 to 9:30 and there were maybe 3 or 4 people there. Those heated tile loungers are to die for!!!!!

  3. Who cares about the Rangers. Go Bruins!!! We saw two finals games Bruins vs Canucks in 2011 on the way back from Bermuda on the Dawn.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Forums mobile app

Who cares about the Rangers????????? Really? Really! Is that comment really necessary?

By the way....... Bruins LOST last night.

  4. Very little or no motion!!!! It rained one day for a few hours, and we were at the Spa in the front of the ship and could feel the waves, so we went back to our cabin (to take a nap) and we could barely feel anything. And that's another thing, if you can possible manage the fee for the Spa - DO IT!!!! We paid $338 for the 2 of us for 9 days. It was worth every penny! Never crowded and soooo relaxing.

The bathroom is small, but manageable.

This cabin is great for the sail away, perfect view of the Manhattan skyline and as soon as you pass by the World Trade Center - go right up top to pass by Lady Liberty and right under the Verrazano-Narrows bridge.

  5. Question for recent Gem cruisers: has piano bar entertainer Laurie Anne Gardner been on board? She used to play the Gem quite frequently. She's really fantastic, and if you ever have a chance to catch her act, don't miss it.

Just stepped off the Gem on Monday. Yes, Laurie Anne did play and she was good. But I have to say that LEO was outstanding!

  6. I too was on this cruise and unfortunately went to lay down to take a nap on Sunday at about 10AM and slept to 12:30! Thus missing the meet and greet at the Bliss Lounge. Oh well.

I also had the Spa Pass, and if anyone is on the fence about getting one - DO IT!!!! It was worth every penny. I agree with the above poster about the robes, but it really didn't bother me that much. I was at the spa every morning at 8AM to 10AM and I pretty much had the place to myself. Those heated tile loungers are to die for! I had such a hard time getting out of them as my whole body was in such a state of relaxation. In the afternoons I would stop by again and there were usually about a dozen people in there. Some nights we went from 9PM to closing and again we had the place to ourselves. And the views from the co-ed and women's side were gorgeous!

My second favorite thing to do was to go see LEO! Loved him! Very talented and very personable! NCL struck gold when they contracted him. By the end of the cruise, every time he played it was standing room only. They need to have him in a larger venue than Magnum.

  7. Another vote for Port Imperial! If you don't want to walk the 1/2 mile to Pier 88, they have FREE ferry shuttles that go up the West Side Highway (you can take the BLUE shuttle) and ask the driver to drop you off as close to the pier as possible.

  8. Let me guess, you will be at the reception desk removing your service charges because you believe it is best to tip only the people that truly interacted with you and you will do said tipping face to face?

    SMH!!

No I will not! If you re-read my post I use to work in an industry where tips are the standard.

And if I decide to go to the reception desk to have the services charges removed (which I won't) - that's must personal decision. And I don't need you to CYBER BULLY me or anyone else if that is what they desire is to do with their money.

  9. Cyber bullying? Really? Why do you feel the need to cheapen the term?

These are just differing opinions about removing service charges or not removing them. I don't believe anyone would contemplate suicide over someone telling them should not remove the service charges on their next cruise.

Do you want to modify your term? :(

Gotta love the anonymity of the internet.

Suicide????? Who said anything about suicide?

Exactly how did I cheapen the term?

And I do not want to "MODIFY YOUR TERM".

We all have our own opinions on Tipping, but to put another human being down simply because their opinion simply doesn't comply to yours is Cyber Bullying.

  10. Tip is you want - Don't tip if you want. It's your money!

People who enter into the workforce where tips are standard - know that some people tip big, some people tip small, and some people don't tip at all. No one forced them to sign the contract to work on a cruise ship, it was their choice.

I've worked in an industry were tips were my livelihood, so I know all too well what it's like to work your butt off and not receive a tip.

What I don't understand is all the cyber-bullying that goes on in these message boards if someone removes their Service Charges or decreases them. It's their money - why can't they do what they want with it?

  11. If someone decides to enter into an industry that accepts tips - they need to realize that not everyone tips or tips the amount they want them to.

To the OP: Tip whatever you want or don't tip if you don't want to. It's your money.

And before some of you get your panties in a wade - I worked as a Black jack dealer for over 20 years and depended on tips for my livelihood. So I know it can be disappointing and hurtful not to get a tip.

No one is forcing anyone into working in the service industry, it's their CHOICE!
