You're in the UK, right? Have you checked out Saga? For age 50 and above. All-balcony cabins, and 20% are for solos. The solo cabins are almost as large as the double cabins, and as you can imagine are not simply half price. But Saga really cater to solos. And even couples are very welcoming.

I'm guessing you already know about Fred Olsen as well.

    Good call!

My sister is a solo traveler (65) & has just returned from her first cruise with Saga & absolutely loved it!  So much so that she has booked another one for Oct this year, 2023, with one of the many ladies she hit it off on her recent one & planning one for April 24..

Saga arranged a solo meet & greet every night I believe, along with hosted solo lunches/dinners.  Other guests were so welcoming that they had a Whatsapp group set up to arrange bars, restaurants & tours with each other.  By far the best "Solo" experience she has had on a cruise.  She has cruised solo with NCL, Celebrity & Princess.

Prices are quite high but taking into account the inclusions: return transfers from home to the ship, food, specialty dinning, all drinks, gratuities, great entertainment & some tours, it worked out very good value.

Paul and Carole Love to Travel site has listed a list of drink prices, admittedly on the Queen Elizabeth, which they posted a month ago.  They thought prices were expensive, but no more so than cost of drinks in London.  Hope thats helpful.

Great thank you for the information, perfect!

  3. Can anyone post some drinks menu samples please?  We wanted to know what type of wine and drinks are priced up to $9 and so covered by the Classic Drinks Package and whethere we need to upgrade to the Premium one.

    Thank you

  4. As the new Ultimate Drinks Package doesn't come in to force on Ventura until April 2019, does anyone know if the Commodore & Captains Wine Packages will be available to purchase for my upcoming cruise in March 19?

We have purchased these on previous Ventura Cruises, however they were temporarily suspended pending the decision announced on Thursday.  Will they be re-introduced prior to introduction of the new Packages?

    Many thanks

Billy, this trial finished early in September and at the moment there are no plans to do anything similar. A few rumours but no definites as of yet.

Hello, we are travelling on Ventura in March so hoping things are sorted by then, personally I would be happy with the old arrangement of purchasing a Wine Package and then buy drinks as and when required as they P&O are fairly reasonable by cruising standards.

The trialed drinks package seemed very expensive, £39.99 per day or £960 for our forthcoming 12 nighter!  The four of us travelling would struggle every day to spend anywhere near that amount!

It says "only one drink at a time can be ordered" surely that doesn't mean my husband can't buy me a drink or vice versa? That's ridiculous!! I've just worked how much £39.95 a day for 2 of us works out for a 12 night cruise and we didn't spend anywhere near that and that includes some meals in Glasshouse and a couple of items from the shops!

I am sure that if you present 2 cards when ordering you will be able to order 2 drinks at a time.
