  1. I'm loving these ideas! We are taking our son for his birthday next month and he does not know. We aren't going to tell him till he sees the ship. I've been trying to figure out how to make the road trip exciting too.

I've made him his own personal "Kevin Fun Times" so that every port and excursions will be a surprise when his fun times are delivered nightly with the regular ones. He is going to be so happy I can't wait to see his little face!

  2. It sounds terrible but I kind of blocked the exact number out of my mind, so I don't remember exactly. Lol but I do remember it was on the right side, one of the last regular balcony cabins on 6. The cinnabar was pretty big (couldn't miss it whenever going to and from the punchliner haha as they are right next to each other on promenade 5) so it probably bled noise into quite a few cabins above. I would say if you are a light sleeper you will have problems but I can sleep through pretty much anything other than a thunderstorm so I didn't but my sister was driven crazy by the noise. Just be mindful that it could be an issue but it's also only open at night so during the day you won't hear anything as the bar is closed up tight and no events seem to go on there other than late night sing alongs with Mark. I will talk about how they tried to resolve our issues as we go day by day as each evening presented a new challenge lol. Thanks for reading along with me and hopefully the rest of the review will be helpful with preparing for your cruise.

I'm joyfully cruising with a broken ankle, a little noise won't ruin it for me! I do think we are in the same area tho and my husband is a light sleeper. Thank you for the tip!

  3. Hello all. We will be on the Breeze in December stopping in Cozumel, Falmouth and Grand Cayman. We want to have 2 Beach days and one other day for something a little different. I have already reserved a beach day in Cozumel but was wondering which of the other ports has the best beach experience?? Both Falmouth and Grand Cayman are new ports for us.

Thanks in advance for your input!

  4. Ocean donation! LOL oopsie :) We usually stay in interior when we take the whole family as its much cheaper. This time we are just a group of 6 and 3 have never had a balcony room so the price is good for me so they can experience it. I just don't know how I feel about the room, it seems off.... Im sure I will enjoy just as well though. I love coffee on the balcony and the youngest is 6 so I will probably have to be in early with him sometimes and we will enjoy it then :)

  5. Hello all! I have a question, is anyone familiar with category 8C and the rooms that say they have non converting twin beds? I just got an offer to upgrade our two 6A ocean view rooms in the aft of the ship on Riviera deck to the 8C balcony mid ship Empress deck for $200 apiece. These two balconies are noted with two dots and say beds are non converting but I am getting mixed answers in my searches. There are only 3 people in each room. Any thoughts? TIA

  6. The best places to see on the Alaska cruises limit how many ships get to go there, and other cruiselines get in while Carnival has to find other spots to go to. A few years ago, when I was looking, Carnival only got to go to Glacier Bay on 2 of their sailings, while Princess got to go there plenty.

Oh that makes sense and good reason not to choose Carnival to me as well. Thank you!

  7. I personally feel tipping isn't out of line in this situation, just because in the hour and a half you spent on the phone she could have gotten 3 other calls and booked people on a cruise, but instead was patient with you and went over every little detail to give you the best experience. I understand its supposed to be their job but its also their job to book cruises to make money. I would look at it like tipping with carryout at a chilli's or a place like that. It's a server who brings you the food, bags it up, takes the payment, and while they're doing all of that they could have been refilling and running food to the tables inside that they know are going to tip and not just hoping. I wouldn't do like 20% but a nice thank you card with a panera gift card or something would show your appreciation and possibly help you not have to look for your own price breaks. Little things go long ways. I always bring the nurses at my doctors office $5 mcdonalds giftcards and guess who always gets to skip infront of all the other people waiting....THIS GUY!

See you get where I am coming from :) Thank you

  8. Thank you all for the many kind suggestions. I also agree that tipping can be out of control however this is a situation where I feel she has went above and beyond just doing her job. We sat on the phone for an hour and a half as she helped me get every detail figured out. Then she is sure to get right on any price drops I find and casino credits she can muster. She has went above and beyond the salaried job of booking the cruise, and has done so with a joyful voice every time. Ive heard many a story where the PVP was no where near this kind and I want her to know I appreciate it.

  9. I have used the same PVP since 2004, and he bends over backwards to do whatever he can to help you. One time he told me when his anniversary with Carnival was and I always send him a "Happy Anniversary" email on that day. He told me they are not allowed to expect tips or gift. I do send him a thank you email or card when we get back and I send him business.

I never thought about them being unable to accept. That was very kind of you!

  10. If you want to do something for your pvp then don't tip them. I have a better idea. I have a pvp that took over for my old pvp. I was concerned that I wouldn't get the same level of service with someone new. So after a few years and europe and transatlantic cruises I found he was a gem. I asked him for his supervisors address and forwarded a letter to them. I received an email from the supervisor asking me if they could read my letter in a corporate meeting. Pvp was rewarded, letter put into his personnel file. He was grateful for the recognition.

That is wonderful advice!! Thank you so much for the great idea, I will be sure to do that! I have referred several people to her already :)

  11. I think tipping has gotten out of hand. A nice thank you card would be sufficient. You should tip for server's, salon services, etc. But for someone just doing their job, that isn't in an industry where tipping is required / the norm, I don't think you should do it. That's what makes stuff like tipping get out of control. Soon we'll be tipping everyone. I think it's ok to just do the job.

In this situation tipping is as it should be... A thank you to someone who has went above and beyond. She is not expecting it or anticipating it nor is she only working her butt off to get a tip. I do agree tipping is out of hand sometimes and expected whether service is good or bad. This is no that scenario. I truly appreciate all she has done and wish to show her that.
