My favorite English food has to be Sunday Roast. Here's a photo from June 19th Sunday Roast ( Pork in the foreground, beef in the background) at Black Dog Pub in London. This was a post cruise stay after 31 days on the Carnival Pride. Yum Yum!

A Sunday roast in a dish? It should be on a plate with the added challenge of not spilling any gravy!

Meanwhile Canada is still in Covid World December 2021, with cruise rules that can make no difference to the spread of the virus at a practical level and no hint of any changes coming along anytime soon.  So frustrating as we look forward to our September cruise.

You took the words right out of my mouth. But I think one of the conditions of sailing again from Canada this year was that testing would last for all of the cruise season.

  3. Also on the Jade right now. It does not feel anywhere near full. Not that you can tell though. There's a group of 8 at the Great Outdoors making enough noise of 1000. They have their own speaker to play their own music and none of the staff will say a word to them. Not going with NCL again and the tips will be cancelled in the morning.

  4. Bit of a rant I'm afraid. Just looked at my booking so I could sort out the Airport parking and, shock horror, it's not the ports that I booked.

If you're on Thomson Dream, Pride Of Panama, Dec 13th you probably chose it because of the advertised itinerary. Montego Bay >At Sea >Puerto Limon >Panama >Cartagena >Santa Maria >At Sea >Montego Bay. Yes, it's advertised as that on the web but I think you'll find that's NOT where it's going!

My booking confirmation, you know, that long email that we don't read because we trust Thomsons and it's only confirming what we just spent an hour working through on the web, well anyway, my booking says that I'm not going to Columbia. Apparently I'm going to Montego Bay >At Sea >Panama >Puerto Limon >At Sea >Grand Caymen >Falmouth (Jamaica) >Montego Bay.

As it happens, I've been to Grand Caymen and have no ambition to go again. I also liked the 2 Columbia stops and I've paid extra to select my cabin based on the advertised route. And why on Earth would I want to go to Falmouth which is a 30 mile taxi ride from Montego Bay!

I've had a long chat with Thomson who say that they can change an itinerary for operational reasons. Now, I fully agree that ships do have to make a change sometimes and I've experienced a boiler shutdown while at sea so of course it can happen. What makes me cross is that Thomson are advertising and selling one holiday but delivering something so different.

It's not a change to the itinerary, it's a different one. I just checked the web site again and they are still taking bookings based on the wrong ports of call.

I'm so very, very dissapointed that such trickery can be allowed. I wonder how many people are in for a shock when they get on board. Until now, I've always trusted Thompson but this just smells like a con.

    Hi Mick.

I'm on this cruise on the 13th.

We booked a year ago. It was advertised as Costa Rica, Grand Caymen and Falmouth. Not Colombia.

But I have seen it a couple of times in the last couple of months advertised as going to Colombia but didn't think anything of it.

  5. Sometimes it is not ignorance. I wash thoroughly with soap and water before every meal and touch nothing until I eat because it does a better job than sanitizer, and I am allergic to hand sanitizer. Allergies to sanitizer is quite common. Ease up on the judgement and assumption of ignorance. It may be the case for some but not all. As a mild germaphobe, I would never eat after just using sanitizer. Its not nearly effective enough for me!

Well, not one for them gave that reason for not wanting to sanitize.

After hearing some of them just say 'No thanks' when offered the hand sanitizer, I would say that it was ignorance.

  6. I was on the Solstice for the cruise that ended before this one.

I lost count of the number of people trying to go into the Oceanview Cafe without sanitizing their hands.

Luckily the staff who were standing outside the Cafe did tell them that they must sanitize before going in.

It's these ignorant people who don't sanitize who are to blame when this happens.

  7. I was on the Solstice last week, but I don't drink wine so I can't answer the wine question.

What I can is that some of the bars had drinks menus and some didn't, but there was no information about what drink qualified for the classic package and what wasn't.

I did ask one of the bar servers about what was the limits for drinks. Such as the limit for beer, wine and cocktails. But he wasn't very helpful and didn't answer the question.

All he was interested in was getting us to upgrade to the premium package.

All I can say is find one of the few staff on the ship who are actually helpful and ask them any questions you have.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

  8. This.

Which is why so many of us do the Upgrade to Premium for just $ 10 US + 15% Grats = $ 11.50 per night

Then the world of options opens up substantially !!

Great value when you look at the scenario you have put forward.

To upgrade... Call Celebrity and ask for the 123Go Classic to Premium Alcohol Upgrade (so as to get the correct charge added to your account). Book by phone you will have to pay now. Book on the ship it will be added to your SeaPass Account.

With the Upgrade you are not required to do it for both in the cabin.

    Cheers!

    Do you work for Celebrity?

  9. I understood the poster was asking about any wine, not just Australian.

As you say, those are the Australian ones only, within the classic package. (There are normally 2 AU reds but there may have been availability issues with the other.)

You can also choose from the regular wines that are available within the classic package, as available on all Celebrity sailings.

From your post it sounds like you weren't able to get _any_ of the international ones, within the limit. I can only say that's definitely not standard Celebrity policy, and I've never had any waiting experiences like that. Sometimes, a certain brand on their list is not available, but most should be. And even with those that aren't available for whatever reason, the sommelier has always in my experience offered an alternative as a substitute. And this also happened on my Century cruise.

I don't know what happened with your situation, but it just doesn't sound right at all. And I'm certain it's not a Celebrity policy, including here in AU.

    Thanks, The Big M.

You are correct. I was asking if any wine was available, not just Australian ones.

  10. There were three options to pick from-

Morgans Bay sauvignon blanc or chardonnay

    or

    Rawsons Retreat Cabernet Merlot

So there was three wines (two whites, one red) but in my eyes that's basically the same as not having any wines available.

They are local Australian wines for anyone wandering and if you knew what they retailed for here would understand how they managed to find their way under the spirits/cocktails limits :p

    Ok, thanks for the reply.

I'm a bit confused why, if there was three wines available, you are saying that's basically none.
