  1. Hi guys,

We are back and scheduled on a Sept 30th cruise on Carnival Horizon out of Miami. We booked with our PVP the other day, and she said that FTTF was not available. She didn't know if it was due to not being released yet or if they had already sold out, but that she would keep checking and told me to do the same.

Since then, I have heard through the grapevine that Carnival will not be doing FTTF on Horizon until 2019 due to a large number of Platinum and Diamond guests in the first year. Can anyone here confirm or heard the same thing?

  2. Hi,

I booked my NCL Escape Cruise the day after Christmas. Within just days of a paying in full I got the upgrade e-mail where I could bid on an ocean view or balcony room (originally booked in interior), I bid $150 per person for a balcony.

It says I would receive an e-mail atleast 2 days before sailing, while many on here report that they find out 3 days prior. I am two days away from my March 4th sailing and my offer still states pending... When should I expect to hear? Will I be notified or the offer changed to declined if they do not accept my offer?

  3. So... we will be in Tortola on NCL Escape leaving next Saturday.

We will only be in port from 7:00am to 3:00pm and my wife really wants to see the Baths. We plan to take the 7:45am Ferry and Return in the 12:40pm Ferry.

Most people say the Baths take about 2hr to explore. Are their any beaches near this area where we can spend the rest of our 2hrs on the island, before heading back to shop a bit and get back aboard?

  4. Hi,

My wife and I set sail on NCL Escape in March. Before our cruise, we will spend a night before and two nights following in Miami.

Through my Hyatt Gold Passport I have three free night awards at any Hyatt hotel saved up. Searching for the BEST Hyatt hotel near Miami area.

    Any recommendations?

  5. Hi,

We are planning to sail on NCL Escape on March 4th. We are ready to book, however being the time of year I wanted to check to see if there were any rumored or known NCL sales that I should wait to check out?

  6. After extensive reading on here, we decided to go on the Escape in March instead in Carnival Vista.

However, the casino is very important to me. The casino on Ecape looks a little different than most cruise ships that have a huge casino floor with multiple sides and a bar in the middle.

Can anyone offer insight to Escapes casino? The floor seems to be very spread out, does it still feel like a casino?

  7. Hi all,

My wife and I are planning our next cruise for Early March. We have been 4 Carnival, 1 Disney and 1 Royal Caribbean cruises. Royal's Allure of the Seas was our most recent cruise in July 2016 and we loved it. However, it was awfully big and a little pricey.

This go around we had planned to try Carnival Vista, however the current promotions for NCL Escape with the "Free at Sea" means that NCL would actually be cheaper but these two cruises have completely different itineraries.

With that said.. I am posting in both Carnival and NCL in hopes of finding those who have sailed both of the itineraries (below) and possibly both of the ships to offer insight of the pros and cons.

NCL Escape - 7 Day Cruise

St. Thomas, USVI -- We have never been here

Tortula, BVI -- We have never been here

Nassua, Bahamas -- Been here 4 times

Carnival Vista - 6 Day Cruise (Sailed Same Itinerary on Breeze Jan 2016)

    Ocho Rios, Jamaica

    Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

    Cozumel, Mexico

Would love to hear opinions and insights, as we try to make our decision!

  9. We have never sailed Royal Caribbean, but have sailed Disney, and Carnival twice.

This trip is special for us as it is our honeymoon trip! We have decided to take a 7 Day Cruise aboard Allure of the Seas as we have always wanted to try one of the big boats!

However, we have a slight dilemma. We are still planning the wedding and wedding budget and finding the places to splurge and the places to save. I have shown my fiancé all the different staterooms options on the Allure and she really only has two she would consider. Of course, her first choice is an Ocean View Balcony Room but the fare for two is over $3k. She was not at all interested in a Central Park or Boardwalk Balcony. Her other thoughts were if the wedding budget didn't allow for us to spend $3k on just the fare, we would just drop down to an interior stateroom on deck 9 or above (she gets seasick quite easily with rocking and shaking, so she prefers a higher deck) to save money, as the fare is just a hair over $2k. Which allows for us a larger amount of spending money for the trip.

This leads me our question... We want to go ahead and book a room now to get things underway. There are more balcony rooms above deck 9 than there are interior rooms, but I would imagine the balcony rooms are more in demand. Which of the rooms would you book now? Our goal is a balcony room, but willing to drop down to an interior room if need be. Would we be better off booking our first choice, a balcony or booking the interior since the are in shorter supply?

    Thank you in advance!

  10. I don't think it is morally or ethically right but these large corporations only seem to care what is "legally right" and that is why I am a nervous wreck when signing any kind of contract. For instance....we purchased trip insurance this past week after making a deposit for a cruise in 2016. I wanted to make sure I purchased it within 14 days of the deposit so any preexisting conditions would be waived. However, when reading the fine print I discovered that the insurance company could possibly still deny your claim by looking at the 60 plus days prior to the purchase date of the policy too. So I'm guessing if you got your heart or diabetes medication changed during that time period before you even purchased the policy ( not the travel date) then they could still pull the pre-existing condition thing on you to deny a claim.

That is my exact problem with this case... Legally could Carnival offer $50 in "compensation", absolutely. However, to expect any guest to contain a value of $50 or less in personal belongings is nearly impossible. I can not think of an instance where I could take a 6 Day with less than that. My tennis shoes cost more than that alone, and they are just a pair of Nike Frees.

I can't demand them do anything more than their contract, but can't imagine who a company can say they pledge for customer satisfaction and not take care of a customer in an instance such as this one. If I played any part of this accident, sure pass the blame on me.. But this is an example of negligence and any reputable company would take care of negligence.

At this point, this is up to the ethics, morality, and customer service of a company with much competition.

  11. This is also in the contract "© Cruise Fare does not include Cruise Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses. “Cruise Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses” may include any and all fees, charges, tolls and taxes imposed on Carnival, by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, as well as third party fees and charges arising from a vessel’s presence in a harbor or port. Cruise Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses may include U.S. Customs fees, head taxes, Panama Canal tolls, dockage fees, wharfage fees, inspection fees, pilotage, air taxes, hotel or VAT taxes incurred as part of a land tour, immigration and naturalization fees, and Internal Revenue Service fees, as well as fees associated with navigation, berthing, stevedoring, baggage handling/storage, and security services. Cruise Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses may be assessed per passenger, per berth, per ton or per vessel. Assessments calculated on a per ton or per vessel basis will be spread over the number of passengers on the Vessel. Cruise Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses are subject to change and Carnival reserves the right to collect any increases in effect at the time of sailing even if the fare has already been paid in full"

Correct me if I am confused and wrong but it seems here that baggage handling/storage is not considered a part of your Cruise Fare with Carnival so here again it seems that if something happens to your luggage then it is the port's fault and liability.

What you are missing is that the passenger pays Carnival directly for these port, taxes, and expenses... From this point, they pay the third party service to perform these services. That is exactly what a contractor is.. A third party service that contractually performs a service for the company. I pay Carnival, who contracts this third party service and uses these funds to pay for their service.

I seriously question, how anyone can possibly believe this is ethical in any shape or form... If the limit was $500, I would not be upset, as one could possibly cruise with less than $500 in personal belongings. However $50 is nearly impossible to cruise with, especially with the dress codes imposed by the cruise line. FOR THE LAST TIME, I UNDERSTAND THE CONTRACT. HOWEVER, AS AGREED BY MANY IT A COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC AND UNETHICAL LIMITATION.

I understand they can lawfully impose and enforce this limitation... I will pay to have the items replaced, BUT it shows to me the type of company Carnival is and have zero concern in customer satisfaction. I loved every minute of my cruise, and wouldn't even be upset that this accident happened, if they company made it right to their customers who are faced by this problem. Carnival profits a billion dollar (+) each year, taking care of a customer to the tune of $1,000 for items damaged after the customer gave the cruise line employee their luggage would not affect their profitability and lifestyle.. I make no where near a billion dollars a year (as I assume every other person on this forum does not either) $1,000 can change my lifestyle. I am not poor by any means, but I also don't appreciate throwing around $1,000 due to someone else negligence. If that is what has to happen, then so be it... However, I will not due business with a company that operates this way and will make sure others know of their morals.

  12. The port workers are not Carnival employees so Carnival is not the one responsible for the damage to your property. Your property was under the care of the port workers so they should be the ones compensating you for the damages.

That is not true, I did not give my luggage to port workers.. I gave my luggage to a Carnival employee who was responsible for taking the steps to get the luggage off of the ship and to the baggage claim. The fact that they contract someone do this work for them is not my call. I can promise these employees do not work for free, and there is a contract in which Carnival pays them to do the work. Therefore, Carnival (who I paid and left my bag in care for) should take care of me, and take their problem up with the contractor, in this case the port workers.

I work in the home improvement industry, if you hired my company to install new windows in your home and the contractor in which I pay to install these windows does not properly seal the window causing rain to warp the wood trim and ruin the carpet directly below window. Do I get to blame it on my contractor and tell you that I don't liability? No, because you paid ME for the service. The fact that my contractor did not properly do his job, its not up to you. It up to me to make it right, and work with my contractor directly for compensation for the expenses that he caused my company. You would not be satisfied if I told you that even though I was responsible for performing the services, I hired someone else to do it and because they didn't do it properly I would not accept liability....

  13. So did you have travelers insurance? Or did you take the gamble and go without it?

I did not have insurance, and in cases like this I don't believe I should have had to.. if something stopped me from being able to go, or I missed the boat/flight delays.. etc Then I should have insurance.

Negligence to personal property while under Carnival's care... I shouldn't need added services, Carnival should do what is right. If they can't, I would not dare purchase insurance through their company and give them another penny of my money.

  14. Just got back from Mr. Sanchos this past week, and HAD A BLAST! Defiantly recommend it, their service from Teo was some of the best service I have ever had. I bought the all-inclusive pass for $55 P/P, great food, strong and good drinks, clean facilities... A+ in my book!

  15. I understand the contract. $50 is less than the cheap suitcase at Wal-Mart alone. Not to mention the fact of the clothes needed just to take the trip. A 6-Day cruise has two formal nights. You can't buy two shirts, two ties, and a pair of slacks for less than $50. Not counting shoes, jackets, belts..etc

We will see what Carnival Guest Solutions says in the morning, they by all means can stick with their contract. However, they know that there is not a single person who can cruise with less $50 worth of items. By enforcing this for negligence is terrible business morals and ethics. While under their care (regardless of who actually moves the bag, because I directly gave their room steward my bag) they destroyed my personal belongings at a value which is more than the entire cruise fare for two. Not to mention cost me $100 extra just to be able to get my bag home with soaking wet clothes.

If they want to stick by their contract, they have every right by law. However, it goes to show their ethics and morals as a company. If they refuse to accept liability for the value of the goods destroyed while the bagagge was under their care, it shows me that I would never do business with them again, and got out of my way to let any potential customers of theirs now about their shady business contracts and ethics. If they have any decent customer service, they will accept liability. If not, it shows me a company with little to no ethics and one I would not want to do business with again. Simple as that. I don't need told a million times their policy, or that my valueable such as iPad shouldn't be in there. Even without the iPad, the goods are still worth over $1000 in just a couple of items (luggage it self, suit, dress shoes)

All in all, we will wait and see what they say!

  16. Yes, I understand their contract. However, like posters above have mentioned.. My suitcase alone was worth more than that and the overweight fee paid was 2X this cost. They can certainly play this "game" with me leaving me to purchase all these items out of pocket.

However, there is no way in my right mind I will sail with them again after four cruises and will make sure it is escalated to the highest power I can possibly get ahold of.

I am not looking to do that however, I am just hoping they will take care of was damaged during their care as its not just a broken wheel or something. This is a much larger issues and with a lot more damages. So, I am seeking advice from others who have had issues similar.

  17. The iPad was placed in their by accident by someone in our party, I understand that one.. But please explain where else glass bottles of tequila should be placed? They can't be in any carry on item, therefore checked luggage is the only placed allowed for it remain. If the tequila was the only things busted and ruined the item that is on me.. The fact that well over $1,500 of my belongings were ruined by the mishandling of my luggage, is not my fault. Passing the blame to someone else that is contracted through them is just an excuse.

I am looking for assistance in how to handle my issue, not be ridiculed for how the bags were packed which played NO PART in how all items were destroyed.

  18. We were on the Breeze on the Jan 25th sailing. We had a great cruise and loved the ship! However, as we leaving the ship we went to baggage claim to get our four bags. Three of them were found right away, but we stood there for 30 minutes looking for the fourth when we were treated by a gentleman in a sport coat and slacks asking if we were looking for something. We told him, we couldn't find our last bag and told him our name. He brought us in to an office, where my bag was and told me their was an issue getting it from the boat to the port. It fell off the forklift into the ocean and had to be "rescued" by divers.

He gave us a claim form and told us to call when we got home with what was damaged, knowing that the bag itself was destroyed. So, that is what we did but had to pay an overweight charge for our airline ($100) because of all the soaking wet clothes. After we got home I found hell... The dye of the suitcase thread, had ruined over half the clothes, a pair of orthotic leather dress shoes, suit pants and jacket, both bottles of tequila was shattered, nearly all of our souvenirs was broken or destroyed by the water, and most important my iPad was not broken but now infuncational due to the water damage.

I called last night to talk about what had happened and what we needed to do from here... I was told that department was closed for the weekend, but the maximum compensation they would even offer was $50. Thats not even enough to cover the overweight baggage fee from the airline due to wet clothes, littleless the $250 Samsonite Spinner Luggage, $500 iPad, $500 in shoes and clothes, $400 suit, $100 in liquor, and priceless souvenirs I can't just walk down and buy at Walmart.

So, I am seeking others this might have happened to and how this was taken care of. I am not searching for free things or cruise, I am solely searching for compensation for the belongings that were destroyed/ruined by the cruise line.
