I was on Royal Caribbean for my honeymoon.  Using the flowrider, I fell off as happens to just about everyone eventually.  The water pushed me back to the top.  I waited up there for the board to come shooting up and get it for my wife who was going next.  It whacked me on my toe pretty hard but I didn't think anything of it.  I stood behind and watched her go.  Glanced down at my foot and saw a decent amount of blood. 

Went to the little guard station they had next door.  Asked for some paper towels and a band aid.  She saw the blood and gave me a towel.  The moment that I put the towel on my foot I knew something was missing... My big toenail had been ripped clean off.  Haha.  They immediately ran me down to the Med Center.  Doctor grabbed a huge syringe I thought he was gonna inject me with, before I realized it was just to spray antiseptic around the area. Then made sure it wasn't broken and wrapped it up nice and professionally.  Told me to come back the next day and they'd rewrap it.  No charges whatsoever to me. 

Had some kind of guest services manager stop by the room and make sure everything went fine and wrote down my version of what happened for the incident.  Probably to cover themselves if I was to sue.  Honestly the worst part is that we still had 2 1/2 days on vacation and I was told I couldn't get it wet.  That meant the excursion we had booked for speedboats in Mexcio was out.  Swapped it to ATV's in the jungle instead.  Worst idea ever!  It meant my foot was squished into a sneaker.  It also meant I had to shift the ATV with the foot that of course was affected.  Even worse was that it had rained a bunch the prior day in Mexico, so it was very wet and muddy. Probably got just as wet if I had done the boats 😄

My favorite part was going to the buffet and asking for some saran wrap on the last sea day because I was so jealous of everyone going in the pools and stuff.  Got some odd looks when I explained what I'd be using it for...

Going on Carnival Sunshine next month stopping at Princess Cay.  Don't see parasailing listed as an excursion.  Also going to Nassau where it is offered, but we're doing an all day excursion that will not allow time to do this too. Anyone know if it's offered there?

My general rule of thumb is I need to have at least 2 days "at sea" where I'll be able to really enjoy the balcony.  I wouldn't think I'd get my true money's worth if I was i a port every day, not being able to really take advantage of the open air nothingness.  Just my opinion though.  I'm sure there's some folks who love a balcony for people watching in ports 😋

Yeah, money isn't the issue.  Right now I'm actually wait listed for traditional dining.  If we end up stuck with your time dining, I may take the advice here and book two nights in specialty restaurants.  Travel agent said since I want the 8:15pm time, my request will most likely go thru, as that's the less popular choice and more people would take your time dining.  We'll see.  

Taking my girlfriend on her first cruise.  Only planning to do one specialty restaurant night, so she can have the traditional main dining room experience with the sing along's, and familiar wait staff, etc.  I haven't been on Carnival in a while and never tried any of their offerings.  Was leaning towards Ji Ji as it seemed different than what would most likely be served in the main dining room.  But I'm open to advice and being swayed... 

Cool, I'm the "turn the phone off and toss it in the safe for the cruise" kind of guy.  But my girlfriend has kids that won't be with us.  So she understandably wants to stay in touch just in case.  Figure I'll just start with the lowest tier plan and if it doesn't work, can always upgrade.

Forgive my ignorance, but would the social plan allow you to use regular text messaging if your phone supports wifi texting?

$299/pp for 7 nights Valentine's Day week on Rhapsody, Western Caribbean. Also got $25 credit from Royal, and $25 from TA. Sure it was an interior room, but I'm not that picky.

Rhapsody did a a little recognition and presentation during the upper tier C&A event. A bunch of the cruiser's friends were on with them and they all hooped and hollered for them. I believe they were gifted with some wine bottles as well.

Went for lunch on Anthem last year. Basically the same menu with smaller portions and lower pricing. Loved the meat and cheese plank. Great thing to share with the table. The pasta was good too. Actually had a lot and they asked if we'd like more, but we were stuffed.

Look into South Shore Zip Line. We used them in February and they were fantastic. They provide transportation from the pier and back, and sent 2 guides along with us. We only had 6 people in our tour, so they really let us enjoy ourselves and take it at a nice pace. There's about 12 lines, and the course should take less than 2 hours. They held our cameras/phones and took pictures for us, rather than trying to sell overpriced souvenir ones. They had us do some "tricks" while on the lines as well. I posted some headcam videos on youtube if you want me to link them.

We did the 5 night to Bermuda last September, and there were less than the average number of kids on board. Most were under 5.

When we did the dynamic dining classic, it ran smooth as butter! Same wait staff, easy to find tables. Really it was the best of both worlds. I'll miss the different styles of menus. But I could see it being an issue doing it for all the passengers, as there clearly isn't enough room for everyone. Maybe they'll figure out a way to carve more space out for the dining rooms come dry dock time.

We did it thru South Shore Zip Line and had a great time. We booked ahead of time, just to be safe. But yeah, they do have a counter and can take walk ups, so long as it's not too busy.

Sorry, but what on earth is an American girl doll cruise?

I'd rather be on a Gremlins cruise (and I mean actual Gremlins, like no feeding after midnight, don't get them wet, etc) than an American Girl Doll Cruise...

Just wondering if things have changed at Maya Chan because when we were there they had wooden slat chairs too. The only thing they had padding on was if you had one of the huts that had the bed in it (which usually meant you had to have a "bigger" party of more than 2 people).

Hey, we had that area last month, and the Hammock was tan. Must've had an accident...haha.

Man, I forgot the Harmony had no Solarium Pool! I'm researching next years cruise and am leaning towards Harmony or Allure. Hmmm, Water slides or Adult pool area. We did spend a large amount of time in the Solarium on Allure a few years back...

Independence 2014. There was a decent sized group of "Bear" cruisers. Large friendly fellas. They were awesome. Made the street parties on the promenade much more fun. Only issue we had is my wife's nickname for me is "Bear". Told her it'd probably be a good idea to refrain on it for the week...

Was there lots of trivia?

There was at least one trivia a day. I think on the 2 sea days there were two.

Food was extra but we just waited till we got back on our ship.

We did the zip and dip. They take you to a specific resort. Can't remember the name. It's a nice easy going place on the West Bay. The driver dropped us off and set a time for us to meet him. We had a little over 2 hours. They give us one free drink ticket and an attendant set up some loungers for us.

We did the regular zip lines last month. I saw the Zuperman zip, but it's only 2 (admittedly long) lines, versus the 11-12 on the traditional course. Plus the harness is much more restrictive, whereas they help you do some fun tricks on the regular lines. If you've never done the regular course, I'd suggest that first.
