  1. I'm 7 days out from sailing and was offered an up grade I bidded on the yacht club grand deluxe. I am in an aurea suite. Looks like the YC  is fully booked. I was wondering how that was possible. I guess I wont get my hopes up then after reading your post, thanks.

  2. Thanks for sharing your personal experiences. Your not the only one that has complained about some of the things you touched on. I know there are keyboard warriors out there that react negatively instead of just scrolling down. I go in mid November I guess I'll be posting on my experiences. Trying to keep an open mind on this cruise and learning from folks reviews so thanks again.

  3. Hi there fellow cruisers, has anyone on here had to email the MSC Voyagers Club Department to add a suffix to there last name for the Voyagers Club so that the name is matching passport for the booking. They make you go through the Voyagers club first. I would like to know how long it takes for them to get back to you. I emailed 4 days ago, I got a email confirmation immediately stating they recieved my request and I was told by a nice booking agent to call back in 2 days if it wasn't resolved. My travel Agent has been calling its useless trying to get anything done.  I called back, only to hear email again its the only way to communicate with the coyagers club department. If anyone has any info to make the process faster please let me know. 🙂l

  5. Hi Larry, we stayed at the Crowne about 6 years ago 2  night pre cruise and had all the transfers. It was a nice hotel, great swimming pool. The hotel food wasnt the best, we walked to a restaurant next door that was decent..There was a shuttle that took us into Rome. We had a great time. Going on another cruise out of Rome in Nov 2019.  We booked with CruiseOnly and some how the NCL flight and hotel package got dropped off our booking. So CO had to re book us with another hotel which we will be staying at the Rome Hilton Airport hotel. I think it will be decent with the shuttle. Im trying to figure out how to get from the baggage claim to the hotel with all of our luggage. Im hoping there is a shuttle. Most people say its a 10 min walk.

  6. Way too soon to tell, assessments of full.extent of damage haven't even been completed yet. However, don't be surprised at how resilient we are here in the islands, and how quickly we get back to business. By the time Princess starts her Caribbean routes again this fall, the island will be functioning. It may not look exactly like it did before, but roads will have bypasses, bridges will be back (or at least temporary ones) and so on. We spring back very quickly down here.

And they will absolutely need the tourism visits for capital to male necessary repairs....

So sorry for what you guys are going through on your beautiful island aND the many lIves that were lost. Dominica is our favorite island and has the politest islanders..you islanders take pride and are very resilient. Praying for you folks to stay strong and get your island back in shape for us travelers. We will be coming through in November on Princess. We are scheduled to go on an excursion to the sulfur springs.. so we will be looking forward to supporting the tourism in your country with an open mind of all the damage that occured.. good luck Dominica.

  7. Hello all,

We are booked on the Caribbean Princess for the August 1st departure. This will be our first cruise, and the recent Caribbean Princess reviews have me nervous ; if I had seen them before booking, I would have chosen a different ship. I really hope Princess realizes how bad this looks for them.

I have noticed that most of the complaints seem to be around the dining options (and the smell), with particularly bad reviews of the Horizon buffet. We are doing any-time dining, and I was wondering what you experienced cruisers think are the best options for where to eat? We generally like to eat later (after 7:30) if that makes a difference.

From the reviews, it seems like depending on where you go, either the food is really bad, or the place is too crowded to get a seat, or both (Horizon). Should I pack a case of energy bars so that I don't starve? :) Does the AIBP help with the food (you are too drunk to notice how bad it is :D)?

    Thanks!

I'm so sorry to hear that you have read bad reviews about the CP horizon. We have been on the CP several times. The food was very good in all the complimentary venues.. Once I think a steak wasn't the best in the mdr, late seating, but you can always get a different entrée.. we did the ultimate ship tour on the CP it was very nice and the galley was very clean no odd smells... honestly you can get food anywhere on that ship and by the last couple of days I'm so full I'm getting tired of food...I always come back home gaining a minimum of 5 pounds. Unless you are just very very picky or need a special diet you shouldn't need any energy bars on the ship. I read reviews complaining about the food being horrible, I just laugh, the international cafe has amazing salads, desserts. I always grab a few things at the horizon throughout the day.. afternoon tea, room service, mdr meals.. The only negative I had on this ship was it traveled a lil slow and we got to the port later than expected, but this is probably fixed.. you will have a fantastic cruise...

  8. Can anyone tell me what ship they were on and when they ordered the Volcano? I asked about it on the Pacific Princess and they did not know what it was but tried to tell me that it was a "drink" and I should talk to the bar staff.

There is a volcano drink.... In Hawaii it is very popular.

  9. I have been on royal princess three times. Two transatlantic crossings and a 7 day Caribbean. On the 18 day crossing I had c417 a mini suite, on the 7 day Caribbean I had c320 a mini suite, and my favorite was on a14 day crossing I just did l216 a mini suite

Sent from my iPad using Forums

how did you like l216, I will be in l220 in november..

  10. I agree with Bill. Unless you accepted an upsell, your price wouldn't change. Insurance is based on the amount you paid, not the price you would have paid if you'd booked the more expensive cabin. Something doesn't sound right. I'd double check with the TA and find out exactly why the cost of insurance went up.

This was 6 or more years ago. I paid like $35 more per person for the 2 of us. Mini suite to a full suite I definitely was gonna take the suite and listen to there reasoning for the insurance and keep my mouth shut. However, on the ncl trip I took in May. I was asked to upgrade to the haven. For $$$$ plus an extra amount for the insurance..

  11. My husband and I are booked on the Ruby Princess for an Alaskan cruise. At the time of booking we very specifically choose cabin L227 because we like the location, but we said would be open to an upgrade if available. We made final payment and we still had cabin L227.

Shortly after final payment, we went to Europe and, while there, our travel agent received an attachment for an "Upsale" offer from Princess to upgrade to a mini-suite for $129.00 per person. Unfortunately our agent was on vacation at the time and another agent forwarded the document to us, unaware that Princess had moved us to an undesirable cabin which is right under the Lido deck. Anyone who cruises and has been stuck on the deck right below the Lido deck, knows it is very noisy. We very specifically avoid this deck. I was unable to open the attachment, so e-mailed the agent and was told it is for an "Upsale". We declined the offer.

After returning from our Europe, while printing our boarding passes for this cruise, I discover that we are no longer in the cabin we originally choose (L227) and have been moved to R605. I immediately call our agent as we did not see anything from Princess offering the switch in cabins. The new cabin just appeared in small letters on the "Upsale" document. We believe they made the cabin change to force us to take the "Upsale". After several discussions with Princess, we are now stuck because they consider the room change to be an upgrade. They have offered to move us to a different room for and additional $300!!

Bottom line people, if you are offered an "Upsale", check to see if they have moved you to a very undesirable location and then try to squeeze more money from you by offering an upgrade.

We have 84 days cruising with Princess and we are extremely unhappy.

Thanks for posting, I normally call princess book with them so I have heard them ask me if I wanted an upgrade. I have always commented no. I did book a couple of weeks ago on line for the red, white and blue sale a mini suiye on the lido deck. I used my cellphone to do this. I did not see the no upgrade selection. Perhaps using the cell im probably on a mobile site and not there full site as on other websites. So thanks for the reminder i will definitely give them a call. However, one cruise I booked a mini suite and very close to the elevators since my 82 year old Mom was with us. Anyway, I recieved an email that we got an upgrade to another room.. At first I panicked was like oh no I need the room we got. I looked it up ended up we got a full suite, the St Thomas on the Caribbean Princess. No upcharge. This was awesome. I did call princess right away to make sure this was correct and not to miss out on the deal..I was given a supervisor because there was a small charge because we had the insurance plan and I needed to pay the amount of the new room insurance charge. I suppose she wanted a supervisor to explain this to me. I did not have a problem with extra amount I was still very excited. I did ask however, how was I considered. She stated one of the considerations for us getting the bigger room was because my mom was handicapped and very old and the electric scooter we rented was from their company.. This happened about 6 years ago. However, there will probably be lots of folks stating that is not how this procedure is done. Haha I don't really care. But it was the best and last trip we had together. As my Mom passed away 4 months later. So Princess made my Mom's last cruise a very special memory to us. I book so many cruises on princess and other lines I cannot Remer if we stated no upgrades and they still asked. But I did have time to accept or deny the room change. But I have seen on other post threads that people have had your same issue...

  12. Are you assuming or have you experienced this yourself?

We could not on the Regal last Nov.

Milk shakes on ships that are not noted have been available for a few years.

I experienced it on the Regal. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET ONE AT THE SWIRLS. I WAS TOLD AT SWIRLS THERE WERE NO MILKSHAKES AVAILABL by the staff and a senior officer. I recently enquired about it to princess relations for our Royal booking. I got back an email this morning stating that milkshakes were only available in the respectively Scoops and Sundaes venues and not available on the Ocean and the Pacific. The Royal and Regal were not included in my email and the gelato area was not included in the package. This is where you can actually get a milkshake for an additional price. I then replied back that I felt that it was false advertising since these two ships were not included and if they could rectify it by adding the other two ships. They have not sent me another email. But possibly since folks have seen 4 ships on the list. They may have fixed it..

  13. Wow. Interesting information and I understand the OP's consternation about being misled. I was considering purchasing the Soda "Plus" package for my 14-day med cruise on the Emerald next week, mostly so I could get in on the milkshakes and hot chocolates. If those aren't available I may as well pick up a liter of Diet Coke before I board in Barcelona and be done with it.

Proactively going forward however, for those of you who do feel the milkshake info is "common knowledge," would you be able to post the shorter list of which Princess ships DO have the milkshakes or which DON'T? That would be helpful to a lot of people I'm sure. If I don't see it I suppose I can simply ask onboard the Emerald before I purchase it whether or not they have them and if they are included w/out strings attached.

I think the older ships have Scoops and Sundaes ice cream venues. If those places are not on the ship I definitely would ask. I got milkshakes on the Caribbean princess years ago..

  14. Just wanted to let everyone know that if you purchase the unlimited soda and more package until the pretenses of having unlimited malts and thick milkshakes. It won't happen on the Regal princess and the Royal Princess. I purchased this package so that I could have a milkshake on the Regal. Come to find out there ice cream place is called "Swirls" only serves soft ice cream and cannot make them.. In order to get a sundae or milkshake you will need to pay for it at Gellato. I did email Princess they stated in the respectively ice cream venues "Scoops" and "Sundaes " you can get unlimited milkshakes and malts. It also has an asterisk by the Ocean and Pacific Princess that you cannot get a milkshake on those two ships. Well the Regal and Royal are not on that list. So I feel very strongly that this is false advertising.

  15. I booked yesterday got a spa mini suite. I to wondered if I got 3 choices.I got a great agent when I called nc she stated just one. She suggested the beverage or dinning packages... But actually the adult beverage package is a great perk. So I opted for that. good luck in getting things changed.

  16. The Crab Shack is not a buffet. It is held in an area of the Horizon Court that is roped off for restaurant dining for the evenings the Crab Shack is held.

You are served at your table. I would never compare it to a Chinese buffet. ;)

Oh I know the Crab Shack is not a buffet. Just saying being from the gulf Coast for the $25.00 extra charge for the Crab Shack is a pit pricey for me. We can get all u can eat crab legs at our chineese buffets for alot cheaper.....so for $25.00 I better be getting a Maine lobster and all u can eat seafood. So if ur from the panhandle and southern states the extra charge may not be worth it.
