  1. Definitely worth the money. The BFF and I did it last year and we have it in our plans for February 2018 as well. The service is top notch and very personable. When we were there last year, the wind was a bit crazy and the surf was rough. We didn't even touch the ocean or the pool that day. We did focus on food and the bar though, and that was awesome. Best fish tacos I've ever had! I may or may not have fallen from the bar swing a couple of times. LOL

  2. I haven't had this happen with gratuities, but I have seen it happen with travel insurance. I've logged in and had the insurance added to my balance due. I've unchecked the option and updated to take it off and logged back in later to see it back on again. I finally just paid the balance due without the insurance and it didn't happen again after that.

I pay gratuities in advance too, so it just becomes a part of my balance due.

  3. Two other things to mention, one you no longer can wait until day two to purchase the program like it was in the past. You have to purchase it for the entire cruise. The only exceptions are those cruises that emanate from NY or Texas. These cruises do not allow you to purchase it on day one. If you do prepay to save the five dollars per day, you will only be charged for 6 days, assuming your cruise is a 7 day one.

Also, if you're cruising on the Sunshine, Vista or under construction Horizon, they all have The Shake Spot, which has alcohol infused shakes that are included in the program, but of course they do count as one of your fifteen.

That is the major difference between my two Carnival cruises. My first cruise I did not get The Cheers Program and I obsessed about every single dime I spent. My second cruise I bought The Cheers Program and had a very relaxing week. I drank what I wanted and enjoyed my trip so much more for it.

I didn't know you could purchase it before the cruise last time, so I purchased Carnival Cash to cover the expense of The Cheers Program. It was nice knowing it was already paid for and my bill at the end of the cruise was just the little purchases I made throughout the week and what little I spent in the casino.

  4. We had a balcony cabin on Freedom last year, and although we enjoyed it immensely each morning and night, we decided to go without a balcony for our February 2018 sailing. It's not that we didn't like it. It's just that we weren't in our cabin enough to really invest in one again. We had so much fun meeting new people and people watching.

After a pretty short discussion, we booked an interior cabin this time....and we're both okay with it.

  5. I think it's a really neat cabin, but I'm not sure I'm willing to make that kind of an investment (I imagine) for a space I will rarely spend time in.

My first cruise I had an interior cabin on Deck 10 and it was great. I slept there, dressed, and that's about it. My upcoming cruise I got a great deal on a balcony cabin on Deck 10, and although I'm excited about the balcony, I still don't think I will spend much time there.

I'm guessing my future cruises will be an interior space for that very reason...unless I get a sweet deal on a balcony again.

  6. It's been two years, but there are a few things I can think of that I had no idea would be so amazing.

First, the atmosphere of boarding the ship. From the moment we stepped out of our cab to the moment I crossed the threshold of the ship, I loved the positive vibe of the people waiting in anticipation to begin their vacations.

How beautiful the ship was. I was on Glory, and she is wonderful. I had zero complaints about her or the staff.

I was in an interior cabin, and I coveted my friends' cabin with the balcony. I spent a bit of time on their balcony before I went to bed thinking I wouldn't be able to sleep without it. Then I woke up the following morning and realized I slept so very well in the interior cabin.

My first sea day morning on the ship was my favorite memory. It's silly because we had an amazing week, but that first sea day morning was the epitome of what I seek in a vacation. I wake up early while on vacation, earlier than I do for work even, because I don't want to miss a moment. I ordered coffee to drink while I got around for the day and then I went to lido, picked out a few items to snack on, and found a seat right by the window. There was lots of action going on around me, but I lost myself in the sea. It took me away to serenity and I was there for a long while. I wasn't brought out of it until my friends joined me at my table. I bet it was a good 45 minutes.

I've always loved boating and being on the water, but I had no idea how mesmerizing the sea would be. It was an amazing surprise, for sure. I look forward to experiencing those moments again next month.

  7. I think something to settle mom's nerves is appropriate. I feel much better about this situation knowing you'll be with her.

I think if you talk to her about all the details of a cruise, it will ease her mind. Walk her through everything, and before you know it, she will be fine.

I have a feeling once you're out on the open sea, she may find solace in the sounds of the ocean.

  8. We are staying at:

    Comfort Suites

    3606 89th Street,

    Galveston, TX, US, 77554

    +1 (409) 741-9977

The room was under $80 with free parking for the week and a shuttle that will take us to the port the morning of the cruise.

There is a side of the hotel that I think will have a view of the ocean. I'm not 100% sure though. I figure I will be tired from the 10 hour drive anyway, so I won't care at all.

  9. Yea, you're definitely not alone.

My second Carnival cruise is coming up in February. MY BFF has never even left the country before and she's joining me. You would think she'd be obsessing with me, but she's not. She told me I'm obsessed enough for the both of us.

I love the anticipation of cruising almost as much as cruising itself. When the waiting game is up and the cruise is over, I will go into a depression until I've booked my next one, which I will within a month or two, I'm guessing.

I've actually planned out every payday until the cruise with a little something I'm purchasing for myself or the BFF. It will be an incredible trip and she WILL become obsessed eventually.

  10. Can you prepay AFTER you paid for the cruise?

I paid my cruise off and my PVP called me and asked me if I wanted to go ahead and take care of the gratuities ahead of time. I absolutely did and was very excited to find out I could do it.

Now if there are any price drops (there has been one thus far) they will go towards OBC. Yay!
